[Open] Morning Training! - February 16th

Description: Every morning in the city, Morning Training takes place to prepare the guests of the city for the war. It's handwaved most days, but approximately once a month this gets played out in a log. This log takes place on February 16th.

[His lips twitch lightly as he returns the smile, obviously awkward with how things are turning.]

Just don't mention it. I have a big bad demon image that I'm trying to maintain.

[Takuto couldn't help a small smile at that, despite the tiny voice in the back of his head reminding him that perhaps there was a reason why he hadn't suspected the Valentine's Day chocolate right away.]

Right. I wouldn't want to ruin your reputation.

I hope you wouldn't! I'd have to quit our partnership right away if that were the case!

[and escape in audaciousness we seek! Takuto might have some work to do to get him back to discussing things seriously.]

N-no you wouldn't!! [He aims a light punch towards the demon's shoulder, because that would be entirely unacceptable! But even though it's all a joke, there's a tiny edge of fear in his voice, because Aion leaving him--for any reason--would be a crushing blow.]

Oh, was that a dare? [He laughs and dodges the playful hit by shoving one of his wings in the way of it, catching it with the soft skin between the bones.]

Not only did my Meister beat me into working with him and regularly abuses me as a pillow, he is even trying to hit me now. I'm going to fill a complaint if you go on like this~. [His teasing complaint would be a whole lot more convincing if he wouldn't be trying to poke Takuto with his tail at the same time.]

No, that was not a dare, stupid!

[He swats at the tail, flushing a bright red at the accusations. He voice turns a little pouty against his will.] And I wouldn't try to hit you if you didn't deserve it!

[He pouts right back at him, red eyes glinting as he leans just a bit too much in for comfort.]

I wouldn't be a very good demon if I didn't deserve it, now would I?

[Ah, too close.... He takes a tiny step back. He shivers, and he's not even sure why.]

You could be a... bad demon? [Two negatives make a positive, right?]

[Huh? Well, that's an interesting reaction. So far Takuto has never particularly minded them getting close before.

The suggestion makes him laugh.]

But I am already! I am! Did you forget that I got kicked out from Pandaemonium? [That's not quite how it went, but close enough.]

[Huffing, he turns to the side.]

No. But now I'm not sure if you're supposed to be a good demon or a....

[He frowns suddenly, dropping the lightened mood and looking at Aion very seriously.]

You should be both good and bad.

[He gives him a perplexed look at the sudden change of mood before smiling gently.]

Takuto..

Thanks. I am trying to be.

[If he has ever wondered why he keeps bothering to keep the human around then Takuto has just answered the question for him once more. Somehow he ends up looking at him and seeing more about Aion than even his siblings often do.]

The same counts for you as well, though, you know? You don't have to be always good because otherwise it'll make you bad.

[He nods. He's still striving to be good, though only partially out of habit. There's a lot of things from the Grand Canyon that he still has to try to balance out.]

Er, I'm not sure I follow how that works, but I get it that... no one can be perfectly good. [As much as that confession comes out of him like a pulled tooth, he knows it's true.]

Oh, I meant that as the way of logic you seemed to be going by. You know, blaming yourself for all the things you did and didn't do during the Grand Canyon attack... [He trails off and shrugs his shoulders. What happened happened and doesn't matter anymore as far as he is concerned.]

You aren't suddenly a villain just because you are not the hero right now. Does that make more sense?

[It did make sense. Though it was a little hard to hear Aion talking about the Grand Canyon, because it wasn't like he was choosing to blame himself. He finds himself nodding again.]

Yeah. But I think it's hard to get used to.

[He gives him a silent look that sports a hidden edge of surprise and the barest hint of understanding and a sad sort of empathy.

After a moment he reaches out and places a hand on Takuto's shoulder.]

I know. The best is to stop thinking about it until you feel that you are ready.

[He looks up at the demon with the unexpected physical contact.]

Well... yeah. I mean, wait... really? [He's always felt like he's just running away from his problems when he doesn't focus on them. Like he's some kind of failure for not standing up and facing his guilt head on. He's only just begun to be able to face all the things that happened in the Grand Canyon, and he still prefers to sidle up to the issue rather than confront it.

It's... bizarrely refreshing to hear Aion tell him he shouldn't be worrying about it until he feels ready.]

Really. [He gives him the kind of laugh that is typical for a person who had figured that something they had said was obvious. Shrugging his shoulders, he makes a wide-spreading gesture with his hands.]

It's like all those times when you try to figure out something complicated. Once you hit a certain point you just keep going in circles and confusing yourself the longer you try to make it work. ..Those are the times when you have to stop and take a break.

I always thought that it's the same with emotions.

[He digests this information, and feels a lot more relieved.]

That... actually makes sense. [He's always known that study breaks worked wonders during those horrible weeks leading up to end-of-year exams. But he's never thought to apply the same logic to things like emotional problems or trauma.]

I don't know about taking a break from emotions, though. [Not that he doesn't think it'd be helpful, just that he has no idea how a person would accomplish the feat. He's a boy in the prime of youth, after all, so emotions are a pretty big deal.]

Well, you could try to do it by going to sleep. [He shrugs his shoulders since a night of rest is obviously not enough to recover from the sort of problems that Takuto has to deal with.] Or you can try and focus on something else, a task or a problem that you can do something about. You know, work on things one step after another. Nobody says that you have to walk in a straight line with that kind of thing.

[At the mention of sleep he can't help but give his partner a somewhat pointed stare. Aion, of all people, should know how he is when he sleeps (though he has been getting better).... But at least the demon suggests something else.

And that last line... seems to take a weight off his shoulders.]

Just because I'm not a hero doesn't mean I'm a villain, huh. [He looks carefully at the demon.] You mean I don't have to do it all at once.

[He gives him a look that is first mild surprise before it turns into a beaming smile.]

Well, of course it it means that! You'd have to be a monster with twenty heads and ten-thousand arms to do everything all at once at the same time!

[He smiles back, finally feeling just a little silly. It did sound ridiculous when Aion put it that way. He sends another punch towards the demon.]

Well I'm not a monster. [He might sound like he's pouting about it, but he's terribly terribly relieved that Aion is joking about it with him. Because it means it's nowhere near the truth.]

[He laughs and takes the punch.]

Well I am and I still can't do stuff like that! So quit strangling yourself over it!
