Description: Every morning in the city, Morning Training takes place to prepare the guests of the city for the war. It's handwaved most days, but approximately once a month this gets played out in a log. This log takes place on February 16th.

[See all those official, cool looking types? Cool.

If you turn your head a little to the left you can see a dark-skinned demon who wears a white cowboy attire and is currently using a practice sword to doodle what seems like random figures and formulas into the dirt. Then he yawns.

Ladies and gentlemen: Aion, leader of the Sinners, big bad demon and the Watch's liaisons officer. Don't give him any reason to use you as a cushion because right now he just might, stupid bed-stealing partners and puppies be blamed.]

[tauborn]

[And here comes the bed-stealing, puppy-cuddling partner himself. Looking hesitant, but... determined to be here. He crouches down next to the scratches in the dirt and then peers up at Aion.]

What do you actually do for the Watch?

[He raises an eyebrow and then promptly breaks into the best sunny boy grin that he is capable of.]

Why, I'm the guy who tries to organize all the internal and external battles of it! My most important weapons are my irresistible smile and my equally undeniable charm that works even through the network!

[tauborn]

[It's a good thing the effects from that chocolate from the other day wore off. He swallows and stands.]

... I don't get it. What do you do?

[He makes a sweeping gesture, dropping the silly act.]

I'm going on patrol and also work as liaisons officer. Without partner so far.

[tauborn]

[He takes a deep breath.]

I could patrol with you? I don't know what a liasons officer does, but I know what patrolling is.

[It's sheer force of will that's making him say these things. He's forcing himself into the kind of person he wants to be--the kind of person that he used to be, when he was up for anything and out for adventure. But it's still a facade for now, just a hard shell hiding the scarred inside. Aion can probably see right through it, but he hopes the demon just won't call him out on it.]

[He stops and gives Takuto a little surprised glance because he hadn't thought that patrol duty was something that would interest the human boy past being a passing fancy. Mostly it was just running around and being bored, although Aion had used the nocturnal hours for his own purposes before.]

Sure, that'd be nice. Do you want to talk to the leader of the Watch about this or should I just take you along?

[tauborn]

Am I supposed to talk to the leader? That's... Roy Mustang, right?

[Actually, Mustang has always seemed to be a very nice person. He probably wouldn't mind talking to him.]

[tuned_wrong]

Right. He's the man with the formal attire and the short black hair over there. [He points in the direction where he just spotted the man.]

It's up to you if you want to talk to him or not. Do you want to just come along or to make it formal?

[tauborn]

[He considers the question, and then shrugs. Being official means he'd go every morning with Aion, and he'd probably get paid to do it, right? But he has no idea what the patrols are really like so maybe he should test it out first...?]

Do you need someone to patrol with?

[tuned_wrong]

Right now I'm on the same shift with Miss Hinata, but we rarely see each other since I prefer to stay up in the air. [He shrugs, giving him a weak smirk.] Do you think you can keep up with that?

[tauborn]

You know I can't fly.

[Though he does have doubts about being able to keep up. He's spent about a week moping and unable to eat or sleep properly. He still doesn't have the kind of strength necessary for running around in the middle of the night. His uncertainty easily shows on his face.]

[tuned_wrong]

[Noticing his partner's troubled air, he tones down on his cockiness.]

I don't do it all the time either. But I like to move over the roofs a lot, you would have to put up with that. [He smiles gently.] That and that my shift goes from midnight to six am. Are you sure that you want to do it?

[tauborn]

[He hesitates a moment longer, and then forces himself to say yes. Even if he doesn't feel quite like his old self (at all), he can still do his best to pretend.]

There's no harm in trying it at least once, right? I'll do it!

[tuned_wrong]

[He laughs and pats him on the back. Aion is still not sure if having Takuto along is a good thing or not, but he does appreciate the willingness of the redhead to take the initiative and be active again. Pretending to be a bit more happy than he is is the least thing that he can do or that.]

That's what I want to hear! Gotta get active and hold your nose in the wind again, right?

[tauborn]

Gotta sing out my youth and reach for the stars!

[Even the slightest bit of encouragement from Aion is helpful. His smile becomes a little more relaxed, and then he bites his lip.]

But can it wait until... [--he does some mental calculations--] Friday? I've... got plans Wednesday night and I won't be any good patrolling unless I get some sleep.

[It would also give him some extra time to try to get his eating and sleeping back on track.]

[tuned_wrong]

[Aion thinks that Takuto'd better watch out that nothing from the stars catches him, but he laughs good-naturedly and goes along with it.]

Sure! What are you planning to do?

[tauborn]

Oh, someone's coming over to the apartment. [He should probably make sure Aion is okay with that, seeing as it's half the demon's apartment, too.]

Do you know someone named Kanji?

[tuned_wrong]

I don't. Is he one of your friends?

[tauborn]

[There's a pause. Before, he would have just said yes. Now... he shakes his head.]

I just met him last night.

[tuned_wrong]

..are you sure this is a good idea?

[tauborn]

The alternative is me trying to change my hair color all by myself.

[The truth is that no, now that Aion mentions it, Takuto isn't sure if it's a good idea. Although Kanji seemed very helpful and very nice--the other boy had an adorable kitten, for crying out loud--it's possible that Kanji isn't really like that at all. And Takuto is inviting him into his home--Aion's home, too.

He's still sure he wants to turn his hair a different color, though.]

[tuned_wrong]

[He lets out a short amused chuckle at the threat.]

Oh the horror! I can leave my communicator on if you'd like.

[tauborn]

[He flushes a little at that, and then shakes his head. He should be able to handle himself, right?]

You'll be at work. I.. I can manage.

[tuned_wrong]

Alright. You can always call me or ask me for anything, no matter what time or how silly you feel it is. You know that, right?

[His voice lowers a bit as he says this - he's not used to having to express this kind of sentiment anymore and has even grown to expect the others of his group to know that already by now, but ..Takuto is new and Chrono has proved how bad that 'just expecting' can end.]
