Description: Every morning in the city, Morning Training takes place to prepare the guests of the city for the war. It's handwaved most days, but approximately once a month this gets played out in a log. This log takes place on February 16th.

[Gai gets there at 5 am to set up and make sure everything's clean from the day before. He winds up peeking his head into most areas to give a hand or a word of advice, and after things wind down at 9 he spends another hour cleaning up and putting things away. He's available for anyone to poke at any time!]

[ The amount of free food in this city is nothing short of splendid, really!

Lau's already had some tea and food before coming, but he's never been one to turn down a free meal. He'll just be sampling one of everything, munching politely as he watches people come and go. ]

Clare's looking around, but not exactly making an effort to approach anyone. She probably should have come back a week ago but... she didn't have the guts for it yet. She had too many unanswered questions on her mind she couldn't leap back into the schedule of training. She'd rather sleep in nice and cozy, with a good book and make herself breakfast at home.

Now that some of those questions were no longer at issue, she could return with something approaching where she was before. Even if the time away, her trip home, and Selendis's disappearance all meant Clare had sufficiently backslid. But, important thing on the agenda, she needed a partner for a lot of what she needed to figure out. Best to start there. No pressure.

*In her spirit of not failing quite so much at everything involved in training, Clare came to breakfast! ...Okay she overslept and didn't have time to make her own breakfast, but the point is she is here and sitting quietly trying to have breakfast and make new friends. Taking steps toward having more friends.*

*By taking her food and sitting by herself away from the others.*

*...Okay, baby steps.*

Clare decided to spend a little while watching some of the instructors and students in the batch she would join... if she weren't afraid she'd fall on her face in the middle of doing anything more complicated than basic fisticuffs and mid combat partial transformations. She was getting better at controlling her form, moving her shield face to whatever part of her body she was blocking with, and decreasing the time to block with any given strike.

But her hand to hand skills were still very amateur because she stopped working on them as regularly as before her trip home. Clare wasn't the most athletic at home, and she wasn't the most coordinated. So her slight loss of training was a big backslide. Her biggest problems were steady footwork, mixing it up with her hands didn't suck, and Clare gave that extra focus given her form, but she couldn't kick very well, or block with her legs (even if she could shift her shield to either leg with ease).

She'll join the beginners... tomorrow, yes. Just watching today is better, ease into things.

[Naoto isn't shooting so much today, but overseeing overall progress of those who come to shoot. That was the point of being an instructor of course. She had a small limp to deal with and had to sit occasionally when the strain became too much, but she's available to help or talk to at a moment's notice.]
