Description: Every morning in the city, Morning Training takes place to prepare the guests of the city for the war. It's handwaved most days, but approximately once a month this gets played out in a log. This log takes place on February 16th.

*Chika grins, just looking around all all the people here who still needed partners. Maybe she'd get lucky and actually find someone she could work with well together again.

She didn't want to be on the sidelines forever, which meant that she needed a permanent partner. So, time to go find a weapon!

Hey, wasn't that person there one.*

Hi there, you want to try resonating?

[trageteas]

Just like that?

[He'd only drifted to the area out of boredom, really; as nice as having a partner sounded, working with strangers was simply not appealing. Apparently Chika didn't feel the same way.]

[scatterflower]

Sure? Why not? I mean, we need to find people that we can resonate with before we can even think about finding a partner, right?

[trageteas]

And if we resonate, then realize we can't stand each other?

[scatterflower]

Then we look for someone else. I mean, just because you can resonate with someone doesn't make them someone you can work with as a partner.

[trageteas]

You seem to have it all figured out. [Is he impressed or annoyed?] If you're really so enthusiastic, I'm willing to try.

[scatterflower]

Great! My name's Chika. What's yours? And what's your weapon form?

[trageteas]

It's Jules de Ferrier, and I'm able to turn into a switch -- the sort that's similar to a cane, before you get confused. [Because he has definitely said that and had people think of light switches.] Have you ever used something like that as a weapon?

[scatterflower]

Nice to meet you Jules-san.

And oh. No, I haven't.

*Hmm... a cane would be pretty weird to use. But she could learn how to use them if the could get on well enough and actually resonate after all.*

Though before coming here I've never used any weapons at all so...

[trageteas]

You're not alone among people in Death City. [In his time, it would be somewhat more unusual.]

But it's difficult to adjust from never fighting to having to figure out what kind of a weapon you might be able to use, isn't it?

[scatterflower]

Yeah, it is. I know how to fight though.

Just more used to punching things the few times I've done it.

[trageteas]

That doesn't seem very effective.

[scatterflower]

... Well, I kinda used to have super-strength, so that made things a bit easier there. You know, being able to hit harder than most people.

[trageteas]

I see, it would make a difference. It might help you with the use of a switch as well.

[That's lip service, mostly; in truth it seems doubtful that she'll be any good at using him if she's defeated people with only inborn skill in the past.]

[scatterflower]

Really? I don't exactly have that strength here though and using weapons are a lot different than fists.

[trageteas]

It means you're good with your hands, doesn't it? That you don't need a large or intimidating weapon to attack.

[scatterflower]

... Hmm, I never thought about it that way.

Anyway, we should get started on trying it, shouldn't we?

[trageteas]

Yes, of course. Is there any particular technique that you prefer?

[Her enthusiasm suggests that she's already worked with more people than himself, and looking inexperienced in front of her is the last thing he wants.]

Technique? I usually just have the person turn into the weapon form and start trying to resonate with them.

*Hasn't failed her yet.*

[trageteas]

Then we'll hold hands first, if you don't mind. I prefer not to be dropped.

*Chika giggles at that.*

Okay, that's fine with me.

*She holds out her hand, grasping his firmly as she keeps smiling over at him.*

[trageteas]

[His grip is far less firm, more resembling a reassuring touch than a battle-ready stance, and his smile seems polite above anything else.

Nothing of note happens for a long moment, during which his eyelashes flutter closed and face scrunches in concentration. It's difficult, even now, to concentrate fully on resonation when there's no bond and no immediate danger to either of them.]

[scatterflower]

*Chika smiles, closing her eyes as well as she concentrates and reaches out towards him with her soul, trying to be as welcome as possible... which isn't really all that hard. Her soul was apparently one of those weird really welcoming ones, if how easily she had been able to resonate with everyone she's tried it with already is any indication.

She tries to do what she imagines the soul equivalent of giving a hug would be, trying to see if that would make it even more welcoming.*

[trageteas]

[He finally clears his mind enough to relax in this unfamiliar girl's presence, and soon enough she finds herself holding onto a birch switch. It's almost surprising; Chika seems undeniably skilled in a way he doesn't exactly understand (just what does make a person good at resonating?).

The bond feels a bit forced, still, as though it could break at any moment, but at least that's something that they can work with.]

[scatterflower]

*Chika still smiled a bit, feeling the resonation. Sure, it's a bit shaky, but it's doable.*

Hey, you doing okay?

*If he was still nervous or something, that might effect how the resonation was going.*
