[Open] Morning Training! - February 16th

Time: 5am to 10am

Description: Every morning in the city, Morning Training takes place to prepare the guests of the city for the war. It's handwaved most days, but approximately once a month this gets played out in a log. This log takes place on February 16th.

He'd been avoiding the morning training, for reasons even he couldn't really rationalise just yet-- but he was here, for the sole purpose of figuring out that burning question that everyone seemed to be so keen on knowing the answer to every time he talked about those eggs, and training and a partner.

Didn't mean he knew what he was doing, or who to ask about it.

If Naruto had any survival instincts, he might, upon spotting Stein, know that it could possibly be a Very Bad Idea to approach him. If the weird lab coat and flat expression weren't already a giveaway, the gigantic screw through his head and the stitches on his face might drive the point home.

Still, he was around, and well. Survival instincts, folks.

Survival instinct was something he had to have as a ninja, although at times his stupidity overshadowed any intelligence he possessed especially during a fight-- the sight of a guy with a screw in his head, and a coat like that was certainly enough to switch alarm bells on anywhere.

There are a few moments however, whilst he glances around for other people that he wonders. This is where he was told to go if he wanted to find out what he was-- so surely.

"Er... Who the hell are you?"

"Professor Franken Stein, from Shibusen."

This boy looked vaguely familiar, but he could not, for the life of him, recall who he was. Oh, well.

"Need something?"

"Fran King Stain..." Well, that was a pretty stupid name.

Stupid enough that it keeps the pout well engraved on his face.

"Was lookin' for that soul thingy. You know. Find out if I'm a weapon or a Maestro."

"Franken Stein. Meister."

Patient as ever. Stein adjusted his glasses.

"Stand straight and face me."

"... Yeah, that's what I said."

At first, he does as he's told, sort of reluctantly-- but after a few seconds he's already moving, hand lifting to rub the back of his head.

"Hey-- Wait a minute, what're you gonna do!?"

Stein did not bother answering, because he was already doing what he was supposed to do: that is, looking straight at Naruto, peering past the skin, muscle and bone and at his soul.

"You're a Meister." He adjusted his glasses yet again. "Now you'll need to figure out what your ability is.

The gaze felt more than a little unwelcome, but he endured it, pulling a face and shifting awkwardly on his feet until the guy spoke up again, mouth working wordlessly.

"... I'm a whatnow?" Following the movement of his glasses on the man's face he blinked again - dumbly. "Er--- how do I figure out my ability then?" What he was didn't really matter right now, the important things were finding out how to do whatever it was he needed to do to find a partner.

"Practice. High stress situations also make powers come out faster, as well."

Not the most ideal answer, perhaps, but it was the truth.

"High stress?" Have a few blinks. "Right. Well... guess I better practice and stuff?"

Even if it sounds terribly confusing. He's not sure he gets it at all, honestly.

"So-- how does that help, anyway?"

"If we fight, maybe I can show you."

Is that a different smile on his face now? Yep.

... "Fight?"

He really wasn't so sure about that. He'd only been here a few days, and getting used to not being able to use chakra again was hard.

"Like, you know - hand to hand stuff?"

[dysfunctions]

"Yes, like, hand to hand stuff."

Was he copying your tone a little? Maybe.

Oooooi. WAIT JUST A MINUTE, YOU. He'll just be narrowing his eyes and, well looking exactly like it's a fight he's after.

"You makin' fun a'me?"

"Do you think you deserve to be taken seriously?"

Had Stein's expression changed? Maybe. There was something sharp about his smile now.

[kuramaless]

"You always judge people 'cause of the way they talk?" Because that's what he's seeing right now.

Damn you. Why is he even still here. You told him what he wanted to know, and that's finished now so.

"I've got stuff t'do."

Stein only smiled and shrugged. He was a brilliant man who picked things up with incredible speed. Judging quickly was something he could afford to do, because he was almost always right.

The Meister was also intrigued by the boy backing off. Few people his age did after being provoked, in his experience.

"Take care~"

It's not something that's going to wash with him, and that expression just riles him up even more.

Things have changed though, maybe only a little and there were people he wanted to talk to and being a Meister was news, he could train now...

"... Oi, shut up! 'Course I'm gonna take care."

Stein, however, was already not listening. The Meister had turned his attentions back to the crowd around them, smile gone, eyes focused on their forms.

Maybe he'd remember the blond kid if they saw each other again. Maybe.
