Description: Every morning in the city, Morning Training takes place to prepare the guests of the city for the war. It's handwaved most days, but approximately once a month this gets played out in a log. This log takes place on February 16th.

[He took the offered napkins and felt like a real champ as he went to clean off what he could. First Egypt, now this... but that train of thought helped him form something of a lifeline to change the subject inconspicuously!]

So Egypt went bad. All that singin' I did wasn't completely gone. Ended up serenading a damn kishin egg, pissed it off pretty good.

[Pat pat, dry dry... Kanji leaned to get a closer look. Shit, he hoped that stain remover he has at home would take care of this.]

...Did Arisato-san talk to you about two-pair missions?

You're welcome.

[She lowers her hand and looks away as he dabs at his pants. Oh, now that he brought that subject forward, she had been meaning to ask how the mission went. She frowns]

That's unfortunate. I'm sure next time you'll both be able to defeat the Kishin Egg.

[She glances at the stain, but then give him a confused look]

No, he has not. Why?

That's what we're gonna do, beat the hell out of it twice as hard to make up for it!

[Though, where that kishin egg was now, who the hell knew. It flew off into the night sky without any real sign of it ever coming back down. As much as he hated leaving a thread untied, he might have to just let the bastard go.]

[He brushed off napkin bits from the pant material.]

Four heads're better than two. That zombie in New York, lettin' that sphinx get away in Egypt... we figured we'll do a lot more damage against those assholes out there as a bigger team, watch each other's backs, not come back with a chunk taken outta some part of any of us, y'know?

[...Or come back with sand in every place one can imagine. Kanji officially hated sand until further notice.]

[Tifa appeared to be the capable type. Hm... though, she had never asked what kind of weapon the older woman turned into. At his statement, she nodded firmly, her hand coming to rest on her leg where the bandage was hidden beneath her pants]

Yes. There are a number of two-pair missions on the board. It's supposed to be possible for a team to pull off a group resonance, but perhaps that's the reason why so few of those missions are taken.

[He spotted the movement, was still a moment, looked tense. Did it hurt all of a sudden? Kanji could have her over in the first-aid area in thirty seconds, the clinic in less than five minutes if something opened...]

Never heard of people resonating in a group, but I know tryin' to resonate with two Weapons is pretty hard alone... still gonna try it, though.

[Was worth a shot, but, he sounded a little distracted.]

...'s not botherin' you, is it?

Stein-sensei mentioned it in class, but we haven't had any demonstrations. He believes in learning through trial and error really.

[She clenches her pant leg gently, shaking her head in answer to his question]

No... just some minor phantom pains when you mentioned the zombie.

So let's try it sometime. Doesn't even need to be in the park. We could just meet up n' try, right?

[His expression faltered a little with the mention of phantom pains.]

Shit... Sorry. The First-Aid station should have somethin' for the pain if it starts up. I-I could go get some in case it does!

[He balled up the napkins to prepare them for a handy trash bin, shifting in preparation to get up from his spot.]

Of course. I'll just have to inform Arisato-san and make sure he's prepared.

[Prepared being not over his usual state of half asleep and fed.]

No, it's quite alright. It's going away now.

[She doubted that would keep him from getting some though for some reason.]

[He'll have you two over for dinner after if he absolutely has to, but the eating comes after training.]

[He nodded, believing her... but if she wanted to train some more, it wouldn't be a bad idea to have some on hand. Kanji pushed himself to his feet.]

...Uh, th-then I'll get more napkins!

[And off he goes for a moment at top speed in the opposite direction of where the breakfast table was set up. Kanji Tatsumi, master of subtlety!]

[For Minato, it comes before and after training which is worrying almost. Still, it's not her problem if he gets ill because of that one day.]

[Naoto raises her eyebrow, but nods, aware that his excuse to get napkins is off topic and a poor disguise on what he might actually be doing (especially when the breakfast table is in the other direction). Still, she isn't ready to leave her spot, choosing instead to look over the other guests that are still training.]

[...Where does all the food go? Kid's a twig!]

[Kanji was set to grab just about two of every one of the painkillers they had on hand in case he got the wrong one, but all he got was a look of alarm, then suspicion. He was sent away with a paper bag of two ibuprofen, ointment, and extra bandages. Hopefully, he wasn't put on some list as an addict.]

[This bag was all he'd bring back, and he was slightly out-of-breath.]

...They ran out... so I figured I'd, y'know, get some stuff from the First-Aid Station just in case since the table was there.

[That is a scientific mystery that Naoto will have to solve later]

[When Kanji returns, surprise surprise when he has a bag from the first aid station]

Thank you, Kanji-kun... Though, the next time you want to see what the Breakfast table has, I suggest you head in the direction which it's located. [Still, what he has, she can check her bandages right now.]

Sorry. ...Uh, would any'a this come in handy?

[He settled onto the grass and handed her the bag, then drew a sleeve across a brow.]

[One day, that will be improved upon]

Hm... it should be able to.

[She set the bag beside her as Kanji sits down again, reaching for her pant leg once that was done. Slowly, she rolled it up higher, wincing faintly as she brought the rough fabric back far enough to reveal the bandages wrapped tightly around her calf.]

Yeah?

[He looked down and, when she started to roll up the pant leg, quickly found a spot in the grass to look at instead, swallowed. Maybe he should turn around or something... but he instead looked again, and scooted forward to sit directly across. A hand scooped under her ankle and gently lifted it up a few inches, resting it atop his thigh to elevate the limb.]

H-here, lemme do it...

[He reached for the bag.]

I got a little crash course on stitchin' people up from Megumi. If somethin's up, I-I can fix it.

[The effect is immediate even if it's undesired. Naoto's not a physically intimate being with other people outside of their professional work. She's barely comfortable when it's just a simple hand hold. Him taking hold of her ankle and then placing it on his leg is immediately too much.]

Kanji-kun, that's not necessary...!

[To do this on her own would be difficult do considering the location of the bite being on the back.]

'f you don't bend n' reach for it, your leg's not gonna tense. It'll hurt less if I do it.

...Keep it still a sec, okay?

[He sought where the end of the bandage was tied off and worked it undone, starting to unwrap the calf.]

Where's the bite?

[... Unfortunately, what he said did make sense. She sighed under her breath, not making any attempts to pull her leg away]

It's... underneath. [She makes a gesture, showing him how the bite arcs.]

[He nodded wordlessly, and when his hands passed the end of the bandage from one to the other beneath her leg, the movements were a made a little more gingerly than the rest. Kanji's hands were just a tad clumsy, a knuckle brushing against her knee or the side of the calf now and again as he worked the gauze loose.]

...Okay.

[Once undone he set them aside, and stooped a little to take a look to see how she was healing up as his stomach clenched, tipping the limb a little with a palm. Damn it... this thing got her good.]

[Naoto doesn't say a word when he accidentally brushes her knee or touches her skin directly. It's just going to keep happening once the bandage is off.]

[The bite mark is deep and the stitches are still visible. They're healing over as indicated by the pink around, but some of the scarring looks darker, irritated as though the wound was going to tear open.]

Ah... looks like I rested at the right time.

[It was no secret that he'd had stitches before, so he knew what those darker lines meant.]

Tch... They didn't give you crutches to keep ya from puttin' weight on the leg?

[Oh, he sounded a little grouchy now, reaching into the bag for the cloth and saline before he'd, as gingerly as he could humanly manage, clean the suture areas. His eyebrows furrowed.]

Don't even know what the hell they're doin'.

[Naoto was able to keep herself from making a sound as he cleaned the openings]

It's not that they didn't give me a crutch...

[Still a very terrible patient even when out.]

Naoto-kun... [He adores you, but you really are the worst patient. That's also the pot calling the kettle black, however.]

[There was a little build-up where the lines were darkened. Sorry, this was going to sting a little bit, but it was that or another infection. He quietly sighed, and got to work there, too.]

I didn't want people treating me differently at morning training just because I have an injury. A crutch makes it obvious.

[She winces faintly, swallowing the hiss. She wasn't aware that it had gotten that bad.]

I know, it sucks... but screw 'em. You wanna get better, right?

[He froze when she winced, and continued a moment later, but slower. Almost done.]

Doesn't look like y'did much to it today, though. Wanted to get at least a little more practice in before I, uh, actually stitched on a person.
