Description: Every morning in the city, Morning Training takes place to prepare the guests of the city for the war. It's handwaved most days, but approximately once a month this gets played out in a log. This log takes place on February 16th.

Hm...

[So it was not only the Meister, but the Weapons that had to get along. That made sense... she knew the Shinigami had two weapons (one who was a nutcase sending ice cream cake on a mission). There was someone else with two weapons. Both cases, the Weapons were related though which made all the more reason why they could resonate well.]

[Naoto withdrew from her thoughts, watching the gauze go around. He really needed to wait until his mouth was clear to speak]

... Who would the other Weapon be then? [Megumi or Tifa?]

[He thought about that a moment. He'd been told that personalities had to be considered for any resonance, but was doubly important for dual. Having too similar personalities caused feedback, and too wildly different would only cause problems. They had to balance, compliment one another, but at the core they had to relate to one another.]

Megumi. [All three of them fought to prove something to people, to society as a whole at the very core, right? Naoto was cool and professional, while Megumi was fiery yet professional, too. That... that'd actually work. All he needed to do was shoulder the weight and hold everything together as the Meister!]

[As the last of the gauze was in place, he placed the clips, securing the ends so the bandages stay firm and in place. Kanji worked to unroll the pant leg, drawing it down over the calf to cover the limb.]

A'right... think that does it. Feels okay?

[Naoto hasn't met Megumi. She believes that Tifa might've been a better choice in this case, but they would have to see through trial and error.]

[She stared at her leg, watching as he set the clips and rolled down her pant leg. Placing a hand carefully on it, she nodded]

Yes, that's much better. Thank you...

[He nodded his reply, briefly glancing away as he went a little pink and shifted to sit beside her once more.]

Yeah. No problem.

[And that's when he noticed a very familiar kunai, picking it up. He had to wonder how many times he'd seen Yosuke-senpai drop these and play it off like it was on purpose.]

I remember these. You try fighting with 'em?

[And just to test, he poked the tip with his finger, withdrew the hand quickly. Sh-shit, that was sharp!]

[Naoto withdraws her hand from her leg and looks at him as he returns to her side. When he picks up the kunai, she raises her hand]

Don't touch--!

[Ah, too late. Well, he realized she keeps it well-maintained despite all the old scratches still on it...]

During the invasion I used it.

I thought the stuff on your belt looked familiar. [Jeez, there's well-maintained and then there's... that! He broke the skin a little, but it was nothing big.]

How's your throw?

[Uh... you did throw them, right? He always saw Yosuke using them like daggers, but he might have his very minimal 'ninja knowledge' completely backward.]

[pishirogane]

Yes... I figured I would learn. [Naoto notices him staring intently at his finger] Are you bleeding?

Ah, this kunai is too big to be thrown. You're thinking about the smaller version.

Oh, okay.

[As soon as she made mention of it, he folded his hands in his lap, curling that finger inward. He watched as, off in the distance, Tifa made clean work of another spar opponent, and he shook his head.]

...'f you had the same person comin' up to fight you every day and you beat 'em every time, would you get bored eventually?

[pishirogane]

[Way to avoid answering her question, but if he wants to be that way, she won't press. He can take care of himself.]

Is this a hypothetical question or are you having trouble with your sparring partner?

[Dah, damn it, busted. Kanji sighed and rubbed the back of his neck, shrugging.]

S'not like I got problems with 'er, no. She's good. Really good. I put everything I got into whatever spar we do, and we had some pretty close matches, but... I dunno, she reads me good?

Doesn't help that I blew the mission yesterday, spent half the night shakin' sand outta my hair, my shoes, s-singin' all that stuff.

[He pushed aside a really distracting thought about that that popped up just then.]

I don't want her gettin' sick of it, y'know?

[It didn't help that he still had resonance issues, to boot. That sphinx was none-too-impressed when he and Tifa pushed their resonance like he did with Naoto during the invasion, tiring himself out in the process.]

[pishirogane]

Hm...

[She tapped her chin, thinking about this.]

... I doubt she's getting tired of you. If your matches are beginning to get close, you are improving. Just keep at it as you are and surprise her with something unexpected. She'll have to change her tactics especially when you manage to beat her.

Somethin' unexpected, huh...? Just gotta figure out what'll catch her off-guard, then.

[He appeared thoughtful for a moment, then all that uncertainty slowly began to melt away. Eventually, with a fist pounding into an open palm, he got an idea and nodded firmly.]

Think I know just the thing! Next time's definitely gonna be different. The mission, too.

[He looked ahead. Someone else looked like they were challenging Tifa. Did they just assume that because she was pretty she'd be a pushover or something? They'll learn, too.]

Then maybe we'll knock one out sometime. Shit's always rainin' down on our heads whenever we resonate... I'm down for takin' the fight to 'em for once!

[pishirogane]

[Naoto gives Kanji his thinking time while she looks over at Tifa. If only her Meister could bother trying to wake up and come more often. They still manage on the field oddly enough. She jolted slightly when Kanji pounded his palm and turned back to him.]

I'm sure you two will succeed on your next mission.

[topgun_textiles]

You shoulda seen it, Naoto-kun. It gave us a riddle, waited for the answer... I started singin' some stuff, and it just gave us this look; this 'are you high?' kinda look. It attacked after that, but thinkin' back on it, I guess it might've looked funny.

[He blinked, paused.]

...So what 'walks on four legs in the morning, two at noon, then three at night', anyway?

A riddle? Where was your mission to again?

[She blinks at the sudden riddle, but thinks.]

... It's man, isn't it? Or human now.

Egypt. I forget what town we went to, but they had this big temple in the middle of it, and a kishin egg shaped like a sphinx was hangin' around inside.

[...Wait, was that the answer?]

'Man'? I don't get it.

[pishirogane]

I see. Ironic.

[She nods and then goes into detail]

When it comes to a riddle, you can't take the words literally. Besides, this is the Sphinx's riddle from literature. Morning, noon, and night are stages in a human's life: infancy, adulthood, and elderly. First, babies crawl on their hands and knees so that's four legs; second, from childhood to adulthood, a person walks on two legs; and finally, when your bones begin to weaken, it's typical to imagine a senior citizen using a crane to assist them with walking, equaling three.

[He took a moment to file that away in his head. God, he was so bad at riddles. It's a wonder the sphinx didn't just eat him like the others, but perhaps bursting into song distracted it enough to forget its appetite.]

Ohhh! When you put it like that, that makes a little sense.

So what about 'what is greater than the Witches, more evil than Shibusen; the wealthy need it, the poor have it, and if you eat it you die'?

[He simply needs more practice with them, that's all. She nods, but then, raises an eyebrow]

Was this another riddle from the Sphinx?

Yeah. I got stumped on the first n' went to fight it, and then it laid that one on me.

['I don't really know what love is, I want you to show me' didn't appear to be the correct answer to that one, it seemed.]

[pishirogane]

[That... that is far from the answer.]

I see. Well, the answer is 'nothing'.

[More than a little off.]

Nothing? --Ohhhh, I get it.

...The hell, those're hard! Think I'm gonna leave the riddle-spittin' kishin eggs to other people from here on out. You made short work of 'em.

[pishirogane]

[She nods]

Riddles aren't meant to be simple. Besides, I've heard those two before.

Well, don't avoid them entirely. Just request for someone who is proficient in answering riddles otherwise, you miss an opportunity to fight against a Kishin egg.

Yeah, I guess you're right.

[And the new guy is practically flipped out of the ring, and he watched as Tifa dusted off her hands and nodded in satisfaction. Kanji had to grin a little bit. Called it.]

[He looked her way. He felt a little lazy today and wanted to call it a day, maybe do some damage on the breakfast table and head for home, but maybe he should track down a makeshift crutch for her. You know, just in case. Hmmm, but what...?]

[pishirogane]

[Naoto falls into silence as well, staring ahead. She too watches the fight and raises her eyebrows a bit. That move would make Chie envious, though, that guy didn't look like he stood a chance.]

[Slowly, she laid back again, not minding the fact her hat toppled from her head. Perhaps she had been around Minato for too long; she was feeling less energetic than usual. Or maybe it was just the leg inhibiting her normal routine. That sounded much more accurate.]
