[Open] Morning Training! - February 16th

Description: Every morning in the city, Morning Training takes place to prepare the guests of the city for the war. It's handwaved most days, but approximately once a month this gets played out in a log. This log takes place on February 16th.

[He lets out a low laugh that would have rung the alarm bells of any sane person who heard it at how easy it was to take her over.

This is easy, far too easy!

Within the realm of their resonance, his soul does the equivalent of pressing hers roughly into the dirt and stepping with his foot on her head as he forcibly dominates the connection between them, leaving only the bare necessary semblance of balance so that it wouldn't break.

Raising the whip slowly, Bakura lets it lash fall to the ground before he sends it flying with a quick, practiced jerk. The motions is a bit off as the spirit miscalculates the abilities of the body that he's in but he only keeps his hand moving, causing the whip to dance through the air above them like an angry snake.

Letting his eyes wander, he muses to himself about who to use as a practice target. Maybe that girl over there.. ?]

{The agressive move at first only gets a sense of exasperated disgruntlement, the type of feeling that conveys that she is entirely too used to putting up with this sort of behavior. She does her best to stabilize their connection, even with the heavy imbalance in control.

She shifts her soul a little before settling almost comfortably in the nearly suffocating bond. There's none of the hesitation that Leo or kanji had shown when he moves, and she accidentally lets a small blip of excitement slip through their connection. It would be nice to see what somebody who knew what they were doing could accomplish with her.

She catches the tail end of one of his thoughts, however, and lets a surprisingly powerful jolt of disapproval lash out at the Meister.}

There are practice targets and trees to use. I'd rather not head down the path of the Kishin, thank you.

[He smirks wildly when he catches her excitement and how easily she adjusts to deal with the new situation. he would have preferred a bit more of a struggle, but on the other hand her readiness to adjust could be used far better than a short-lived thrill.

Her attempts to jolt him out of his plan bounce off of him like a rubber ball would against a wall; he is used to deal with far more intense emotions that simple disapproval.

However, he decides to play nice this once and seconds later the lash comes down on one of the practice targets, strong and fast enough that it would have skinned a being of flesh and blood.]

Che~ That the most useful tools must always have the most noisy backseat drivers.

{She tries to stay irritated with him, but she felt that hit connect and it sends out hums of satisfaction through her wavelength before she can even think to stop it. She wouldn't ever think of being used on a normal person with anything less than revulsion, but being wielded so viciously and effectively against one of the monstrous Kishin Eggs is a very...attractive thought.

Still, if it is possible for a whip to pout through emotions and an energy bond, then Yako is, quite emphatically.}

Wow, rude.

{...still it makes her kind of happy to be called useful, even if he's a jerk about it.}

Rude? [He chuckles, low and sadistically. The voice is Ryou's, but his way of speaking and demeanor have dropped to become fully that of the thief of the sennen items. Even his voice has dropped a note as he continues mockingly.] You liked it, didn't you? So spare us your hypocrisy.

....this is like the closest to tsun she will ever get, haha

{She kind of figured out that this wasn't quite the same fellow she had agreed to trade recipes with earlier around the time their connection formed. This just confirms it.}

I liked the fact that you didn't smack yourself in the face on the first try.

[He just shrugs his shoulders and ignores the small spike of pain from his injured left arm that the move triggers. He'll have to bind it up again later.]

As if that wasn't obvious.

[He pulls the lash of the whip closer and winds it in loose loops around his hand, looking undecided for a moment. They got the whipping, but what about the life-stealing?]

{She feels that something isn't quite right and sends out a probe of concern. A wounded body had made resonation painful for Saleh, after all.}

[He swats the probe away like an annoying fly. His wounds are something that only concerns him and as long as the body can still keep going nothing he is going to display any concerns about. Still, it's good that it's on his non-dominant arm.

He huffs, not really wanting to admit that he has to ask about anything.]

Does the energy-sucking only work with real targets? [There are still people here that he can hit.]

{She mulls that over for a bit.}

Well, it's something I control, and there needs to be some sort of life energy in the target. I think there's a weak sapling off to the left that could work, if you really want to see it.

I do.

[He gives the lash a short tug before he stalks off to find find that sapling. H doesn't really care about the nature of their test victim and if the tree makes her more cooperative and lower her guards... that's fine with him. Unlike that short-sighted idiot Malik he doesn't need instant gratification.

Once they arrive there he makes short process, cracking the whip through the air before lashing it against the plant with ferocious force that startles more than just one nearby bystander.]

{It's a little different, stealing the energy from a tree instead of something semi-sentient and mobile, but Yako tears as much away as she can during the brief contact. It gives her the same jittery hype that the Kishin's energy did, albeit on a much smaller scale.

The tree is noticeably affected; Though it was somewhat wilting before, now its bark is softer, and what little hints of new leaves that had begun to sprout have turned a sickly brown. The poor sapling has also begun to sag to the side a bit.}

It takes more than that to really affect a Kishin Egg, but I think it works well as a demonstration!

[This time he can feel it as well, that something is happening. Seeing the new state of the plant only confirms it and for a moment he looks semi-pleased as he collects the whip once more.

No new energy has reached him yet, but having it taken from his enemies is just as well.]

So it's like that, huh? Well, in this case-

[He suddenly strikes the sapling again, planning to leave nothing but dust and dry dead wood behind.]

{He gets exactly what he wants, since it's basically a mercy kill for the poor sapling at this point. He may be able to feel a pleasant, 'fidgety' sort of buzz coming from Yako's end of the connection, though she's doing her best to keep calm.

She had been positively wired after her first mission.}

[He lowers the whip, eying the now dead plant dispassionately.]

The energy. Are you keeping all of it?

[itaidakimasu]

Yeah! It's not all that much...oh, oh! I have an idea! Go back to the targets, I want to show you something!

{It really isn't much energy at all, but she could at least show him what Backlash was supposed to look like.}

Something? [He sounds doubtful, but does as requested. Looking first at the Weapon and then at the target, he gives her the equivalent of a prompt with a spike of resonance of his soul, it's meaning thinly veiled.

He is doing her a favor by doing as she says, she'll better make it worthwhile.]

What now? Do you want me to attack it again?

[itaidakimasu]

One second.

{Yako latches onto that spike, twining her wavelength around it to strengthen the connection. She doesn't want it to fizzle out, after all. With that done, she starts gathering up the tree energy.}

Okay, now I can show you!

[Ohm. What. Excuse you, but what exactly are you doing there, using his soul like the corner of a blanky?

He tries to ignore afterimage of a wrought up feeling and just grumbles under his breath as he lets the whips soar through the air once more. It goes over his head in a wide arc and comes down far too early just to jerk into an upwards hit at the last moment as he goes along with the motion, putting his own weight and momentum into the move as well.]

{Yako uses that augmented bond to track his movements. She uses the energy at the moment she feels it will be used best. The resulting wave of energy leaves shallow slash, perhaps a couple centimeters deep, in the target.

Combined with the actual blow, the weak attack knocks over the target, sending it tumbling two or three times.}

I call that one Backlash. That one wasn't very strong, since there wasn't much energy to be had in the tree, but it takes quite a few Lashes to really affect a Kishin Egg.

[His eyes widen slightly at the damage they have done. It's - impressing! He's not going to admit it, but that's far better than what he had given her credit for so far. A whip that can get the force of a god's punch behind it is no tool to be underestimated.

... After a second he huffs and crosses his hands in front of his chest to show how 'little impressed' he is.]

So you suck the energy out of one life and use it to blast another one to bits?

[itaidakimasu]

That's the basic concept. Depending on the opponent, either a really strong or multiple Backlashes might be needed to do major damage. I haven't used it outside of practice, though...

{She's a bit disappointed about that, but the brief flash she felt from him before he tried to play it off is...well, satisfying.}

That's all I know right now. Like I said, it's kind of hard to find somebody who knows what to do with a whip to train with me.

[He is slightly disappointed that she isn't bothered by his choice of words, but listens to her explanation attentively.

From what he has seen from this world it seems to be a lot like the modern world he has come from; having trouble finding people who know how to use a whip here would make sense. On the other hand, swords seem to be perfectly normal here which is a huge difference to Domino City.]

How come they have no problems using swords but have no skills with whips?

Well, in worlds with less technology, blades are more common and easier to learn than whips, I guess.

{She can't quite hide how put out that makes her. She actually understands the rationale behind her weapon form, but really.

Couldn't BREW have given her something even slightly more mainstream?}

[He scoffs at that kind of logic.]

Nonsense, learning how to use a weapon has nothing to do with how much technology there is.

[He is about to say more about how swords are just easier to use since the dangerous end can be easier distinguished from the not-pointy one by even idiots, but the comment falls short when he realizes that his hands are shaking and how drained he is feeling all of a sudden. Judging from the wet feeling on his arm his wound is bleeding once again as well.]
