Description: Every morning in the city, Morning Training takes place to prepare the guests of the city for the war. It's handwaved most days, but approximately once a month this gets played out in a log. This log takes place on February 16th.

[Kanji couldn't possibly forget a little thing like having a white-eyed dude paralyze practically every part of your body, now could he? No, of course not.]

[He was beyond asking for an apology, and he didn't even want one in the first place. This was a matter of pride, a matter of proving just what he was capable of when he hadn't been fighting zombies for almost twelve solid hours and was having his soul energy sucked away by a depleted Weapon. There was no greeting, and not so much as a warning before the Meister called up a Soul Descent and fired that shockwave, following it up with a full upper-body heave of a folding chair he had handy from the breakfast table.]

[The impact stole the breath from his lungs, hitting like the repercussive wave of an exploding note. But his training and reflexes kicked in before he hit the ground, body curling into a roll and he came up brandishing kunai between his fingers with an expression set to kill.

Veined eyes took in his quarry, sitting back, and Neji slowly straightened, tucking the kunai away as recognition set in- a brief flash of violent memory that left him feeling like the 'attack' was well-deserved]

[The chair gave a metallic clatter as it folded up in the grass. Kanji ignored it as he pushed forward.]

Don't gimme that guilt-trip shit! Ask me after I rearrange your face!

[He wouldn't let up, swinging a one-two, following with another Soul Descent. All-Offense, Little-Defense seemed to be his style, though there was something about how much lighter the teen was on his feet this time around. Perhaps he had his partner to thank for that. But that didn't matter right now; Kanji had some steam to blow.]

[There was certainly a notable difference. In direct contrast, Neji took an entirely defensive stance, blocking and redirecting. But he didn't try to dodge and took the hits he couldn't mitigate completely, cracking a smile that was just too serene for the circumstances.

He laughed, feeling like he tottered on the edge of instability as he stood up from another burst of soul wavelength]

[The smile just irked him, and when he laughed...? His hackles went right up.]

The hell's so damn funny!?

[Wait. Grateful? What's that supposed to mean? If he was trying to confuse him, it was definitely working. However, his next assault was just that much more unrelenting than the last, his lack of temper flared as he tried to just wipe that smile off his face. It was weird... you're weird, Neji.]

[He didn't really know, only knew that he couldn't seem to stop his lips from widening even as Kanji rained boiling fury in his throws, pain bursting through half-hearted defenses. When he went down this time he stayed there, trying to pull himself together. The smile relented into something smaller- softer and more distant- less crazed in nature]

..Since the day I returned, I expected everyone I knew to treat me like this- worse, considering how I was a few years ago. They forgave me instead. ..It didn't feel real until now. That's all.
