hyuuga: (❛the smallest of gestures❜)

[personal profile] hyuuga 2012-05-12 03:19 am (UTC)(link)
Hinata shook her head. "No, it really doesn't. Killing people, it sometimes doesn't solve anything. Just makes more problems. Or so I-I think. It's easy to kill someone or let go in a fight, but not to...to hold back."

She clasped her hands behind her back, not wanting to fidget while talking about training. She knew that gave off the wrong impression. "It's good to be tired after practice. Whenever I-I feel that way, I feel like I've got in a good one."

[personal profile] ninjainviolet 2012-05-12 06:05 am (UTC)(link)
"You're right," Sheena agreed, sitting on the ground, and gesturing for the other to join her. "I've seen too many people get carried away and almost not be able to stop without someone interfering." She sighed. "I hope I never reach that point."

She looked at the girl, recognizing the nervous gesture for what it was. She used to do the same thing as a child to show her Grandpa and the others that she wasn't scared or anxious. How early the habit of hiding her true feelings began....

"Yeah. There's that kind of exhaustion--like you accomplished something. Then there's the other kind where you felt like you wore yourself out and didn't get anywhere in the process."
hyuuga: (❛maybe is a vicious little word❜)

[personal profile] hyuuga 2012-05-12 07:37 am (UTC)(link)
Uncertain as she has never really been invited to join someone other than her team before, she hesitated for only a second before sitting down as well, legs folded neatly beneath her.

"I-I don't think you'll have that problem," she said. Then blushed because maybe that was just a bit too forward, a little too blunt. "You just... I mean, because you've seen it, you're likely to stop yourself from getting there. And you seem...dedicated, in your training."

She looked at her hands resting on her knees. It was easier to smile. "Mm, right. Hopefully though, we won't feel the latter while here...during training. Training overseen by Gai-sensei, it usually leaves most everyone feeling accomplished.."

Sheena sensed her hesitation, but said nothing as she waited for the girl to make up her mind. Smiling as she eventually joined her, she finally introduced herself. "My name's Sheena Fujibayashi," she said before sighing.

"I hope you're right," she told the girl. "But that doesn't mean I won't give my all to help end this war. People deserve to live the way they want without fearing they'd be oppressed." And Kid deserved to at least try to have a somewhat normal life instead of trying to protect all of them from the Madness mentioned on the tour.

Her brows raised. "You know Gai? He seems very enthusiastic for training, so I guess everyone also feels exhausted?"

[personal profile] hyuuga 2012-05-15 04:03 pm (UTC)(link)
"It's nice to meet you. My name's Hinata." She looked up, still smiling.

Which quickly turned into a nod. Such conviction she could understand. "Right.. And we should do what we can. Just because it isn't our world doesn't mean we should just...let them deal with it on their own." That was why they had been brought here, after all. In her eyes, at least.

"I-I do.. We are from the same world," she said. "Though, um, I-I think if you aren't exhausted after a session under Gai... Something isn't right."
ninjainviolet: ([Knowing Look])

[personal profile] ninjainviolet 2012-05-17 02:18 am (UTC)(link)
"Nice to meet you, too, Hinata," Sheena told the girl with a smile.

She looked at the other girl thoughtfully before nodding. "Exactly. I mean, I'm not too happy about being pulled from my world, but people need help here..." She trailed off, hoping she could actually make a difference.

"I've found a few people from my world, too," Sheena said, laying back on her hands. "I think one of them might benefit from being trained by Gai," she said somewhat impishly. "He should be able to take it."
hyuuga: (❛applying old words to new❜)

[personal profile] hyuuga 2012-05-17 04:19 am (UTC)(link)
"It's not ideal," she agreed, "but...things rarely are in such situations. We just have to make the best of it, an-and put our all into training."

And she almost laughed at that. She could think of many people who could benefit from Gai's training, but they all seemed to avoid it. "Hopefully.. You could always try to get him here by telling him about the free breakfast.."
ninjainviolet: ([Skit!Happy3])

[personal profile] ninjainviolet 2012-05-21 07:44 am (UTC)(link)
"I do that anyway," Sheena said. "Well, I used to. Now, I sometimes do other things to relax." She really didn't have to work so hard to prove herself anymore, and ironically, she found out she was actually a better fighter if she relaxed more.

"Go ahead and laugh," Sheena prompted, doing so herself. "He always looks relaxed when he fights, but he's actually a pretty good fighter. Although, I doubt he's ever had an instructor as devoted to training as Gai, so he just might need that free breakfast."
hyuuga: (pic#3013617)

[personal profile] hyuuga 2012-05-27 03:31 am (UTC)(link)
"There's nothing wrong with relaxing," she agreed. So long as it didn't become all one did, in her opinion. But hers was skewed: relaxing, surprisingly, was one of the things she didn't entirely get.

She chuckled. "An-and that's not...such a bad thing. Being relaxed while fighting. It could throw off opponents... But, um, I-I don't think many people have had an instructor quite like...Gai." Even back in Konoha, the other instructors weren't as enthusiastic as Gai.
ninjainviolet: (✲♐☄ Game - Let a Smile be Your Umbrella)

[personal profile] ninjainviolet 2012-05-29 12:53 am (UTC)(link)
Sheena held the same opinion about relaxing that Hinata did. To her, people who relaxed without working were no better than the nobles she knew who expected everything to be handed to them without question.

"No, looking at ease while fighting is one of the best ways to not only fool your opponent, but you can also take a hit easier." She stopped a moment as she recalled her own training. "I know my Grandpa was proud to teach his techniques, and he could get a little carried away occasionally. I'm not sure I could have handled both that and his goofiness on a constant basis."
hyuuga: (pic#3013606)

[personal profile] hyuuga 2012-05-30 06:34 am (UTC)(link)
"Then I-I think...maybe your grandfather and Gai might have got along very well," Hinata said. She could almost imagine it; Gai and Sheena's grandfather going back and forth about their favorite techniques or training methods. There was nothing wrong with taking pride in things, but sometimes...

She smiled. "But I do think you might have been able to."
ninjainviolet: ([Think])

[personal profile] ninjainviolet 2012-05-31 12:56 am (UTC)(link)
"I don't think. I know," Sheena chuckled. That was probably why she and Gai had hit it off when they met. He reminded her so much of Igaguri. Not the goofiness, but the passion and belief he has in his abilities. A trait it took Sheena a long time to gain herself. But if they ever met.... She doubted she'd be able to make it through the two of them talking "shop", but a part of her wanted to see the meeting of two senseis anyway.

She sighed and gave Hinata a wry look. "I hate to say this, but I think you're right. If I could survive goofy, I could probably survive his enthusiasm, too." She sighed and leaned back on her hands. "I wonder if any if that training I had will help me. I found out I'm a Weapon."
hyuuga: (❛a guise of gentle words❜)

[personal profile] hyuuga 2012-06-03 04:33 am (UTC)(link)
She had to laugh as well. From just the tone she used when talking about her grandfather and things involving him, she could easily believe that Gai and him would have gotten along.

"There's only a thin line separating goofy and enthusiasm...or so I-I think." She smiled a little brighter. "But, um... It should? I-I don't see why it wouldn't."
ninjainviolet: (✲♐☄ Game - Let a Smile be Your Umbrella)

[personal profile] ninjainviolet 2012-06-09 01:11 am (UTC)(link)
Sheena's cheeks turned red and she gave Hinata a small smile at being caught with her feelings about her Grandpa showing. "Kinda obvious, isn't it?" she asked. "Complaints laced with a deeper, fonder emotion. That's family."

She had to think about what Hinata said, finally nodding in agreement. "And I think Grandpa's crossed it so many times that it's blurred now," she chuckled. "And I hope it does. I'm already a weapon, if you think about it. I'm probably going to have to stop thinking like that though if I want it to work."
hyuuga: (❛questions that never breathe❜)

[personal profile] hyuuga 2012-06-09 05:15 am (UTC)(link)
Her laughter died easily, and her smile turned almost softer. "Yes... That is family." She nodded, even if it wasn't quite true on her end. That was one thing she couldn't entirely understand.

She cleared her throat and shook her head minutely. It wasn't the time or place to dwell on such things. "No, I...I think that that isn't bad to think about it that way. If anything, it should mean you have a better chance of working well with anyone. Since...well, since you already have an idea of it?"
ninjainviolet: ([Dejected])

[personal profile] ninjainviolet 2012-06-10 09:11 pm (UTC)(link)
"Hinata, what's wrong?" There was no way even Sheena could miss that change in level of happiness. She turned to her new friend, her eyes filled with concern. "Did I insult you?"

She sat up and began picking at the grass in front of her. "Yeah, it should be easier, but from what they tell me, this is going to be different. I won't be the one deciding what to do. Someone else will." And that really didn't sit well with the young ninja.
hyuuga: (pic#3013606)

[personal profile] hyuuga 2012-06-13 04:48 pm (UTC)(link)
She shakes her head immediately. "No! No...nothing like that." Family issues were family issues, even if she would always envy those who had good relations with their family.

"Um, anyway.. I-I do know what you mean there. It will be strange to have someone else deciding how and when to attack. I suppose we will just have to hope we find a good Meister, then." She smiled.
ninjainviolet: ([Concerned])

[personal profile] ninjainviolet 2012-06-15 09:49 am (UTC)(link)
"Then what's wrong? You look upset." Sheena's eyes grew even more concerned. Hinata's mood changed when she mentioned her Grandpa. Oh, maybe she didn't have a family, and here Sheena was talking about hers. No wonder she was upset.

Sheena let her gaze wander briefly over to where others were meeting prospective partners before traveling over to where established partnerships were training. It wasn't the appearance of the couples that surprised her, but how easy they made the whole thing looked. Nodding in that direction, she said over her shoulder, "I guess if I can learn to fight with others as myself, I should be able to do that. Especially if I find a good Meister." She hoped.
hyuuga: (pic#3788744)

[personal profile] hyuuga 2012-06-23 06:30 am (UTC)(link)
"Oh, it's nothing, really." She waves her concerns off. Her family issues are well...complicated. Even in Death City.

And she follows Sheena's gaze. It really looked so easy, finding someone and working with them. Or maybe they simply weren't trained ninja who had issues working in such ways with others. "A good Meister will help, I think. It'll make all the difference. And it...it really can't be all that different."
ninjainviolet: ([Think])

[personal profile] ninjainviolet 2012-06-25 09:51 am (UTC)(link)
"If you're sure," she says, although she doesn't believe it. "But if you ever need to talk, Hinata, I'll be more than happy to listen."

That was where Sheena's problem lay. She was trained to fight on her own and not to rely on others, but she had swallowed that training and pride in order to fight in a group, using their skills of each other as each saw fit. Now, she was going to have to rely on someone else to tell her what to do. But she had to agree with the other girl. "Yeah, maybe a good Meister is like a sensei who focuses on a student's skill and works with it, and not against it." That would definitely make all the difference.
hyuuga: (pic#3013606)

[personal profile] hyuuga 2012-07-08 02:04 am (UTC)(link)
Hinata nods, smiling. She likely won't give words to how grateful she is for Sheena's kindness, but it's there. "I will. Thank you."

She nods again, this time listening to her words. "Maybe... Or it could be like a teammate you know very well..." Someone easy to work with together and separately. That's the closest and best analogy she could think of.
ninjainviolet: ([Think])

[personal profile] ninjainviolet 2012-07-09 10:01 pm (UTC)(link)
Sheena returns the smile. She's the same way when it comes to asking for help or dealing with her own problems, so she can understand Hinata's reluctance.

Now it's Sheena's turn to listen and nod. "I didn't think about that, but yeah, that can work, too." In fact, it sounds that it can work better than the sensei idea--since she tends to adapt her moves when she fights with others.
hyuuga: (Fidget | My fingers are interesting)

[personal profile] hyuuga 2012-07-24 03:40 am (UTC)(link)
"Ah, it... It was just something I thought of. Teamwork, it's something I know better than partnerships." She blushed, fiddling with the cuffs of her jacket. It was still new to her having people agree with her ideas, when she did mention them.
ninjainviolet: ([Think])

[personal profile] ninjainviolet 2012-07-25 12:44 am (UTC)(link)
"A partnership has a lot of teamwork, too," she told her. "I had a partner--no, he was my friend--for a long time, and we worked together pretty well." She began tapping her boot. "He...ummm...he's no longer around." Her tone should convey so much more than her words did.

"Maybe that's why I'm hesitating to do this..." she mused. The loss of one partner was enough.
hyuuga: (Quiet | So happy I could cry..)

[personal profile] hyuuga 2012-07-25 04:34 am (UTC)(link)
She nodded. "It really does." But when Sheena spoke of her old partner, she was quiet and listening for what wasn't said.

In a way, it reminded her of her sensei, right after her lover died and even to when she last saw her. To lose a partner...it happened. It wasn't good, it wasn't the end of the world, but it was the end of something.

"It's OK...to hesitate. It's not easy to find someone new to partner with. But at the same time...I-I can't quite see them, or anyone, wanting you to not find another one."
