She clasped her hands behind her back, not wanting to fidget while talking about training. She knew that gave off the wrong impression. "It's good to be tired after practice. Whenever I-I feel that way, I feel like I've got in a good one."
no subject
She looked at the girl, recognizing the nervous gesture for what it was. She used to do the same thing as a child to show her Grandpa and the others that she wasn't scared or anxious. How early the habit of hiding her true feelings began....
"Yeah. There's that kind of exhaustion--like you accomplished something. Then there's the other kind where you felt like you wore yourself out and didn't get anywhere in the process."
no subject
"I-I don't think you'll have that problem," she said. Then blushed because maybe that was just a bit too forward, a little too blunt. "You just... I mean, because you've seen it, you're likely to stop yourself from getting there. And you seem...dedicated, in your training."
She looked at her hands resting on her knees. It was easier to smile. "Mm, right. Hopefully though, we won't feel the latter while here...during training. Training overseen by Gai-sensei, it usually leaves most everyone feeling accomplished.."
no subject
"I hope you're right," she told the girl. "But that doesn't mean I won't give my all to help end this war. People deserve to live the way they want without fearing they'd be oppressed." And Kid deserved to at least try to have a somewhat normal life instead of trying to protect all of them from the Madness mentioned on the tour.
Her brows raised. "You know Gai? He seems very enthusiastic for training, so I guess everyone also feels exhausted?"
no subject
Which quickly turned into a nod. Such conviction she could understand. "Right.. And we should do what we can. Just because it isn't our world doesn't mean we should just...let them deal with it on their own." That was why they had been brought here, after all. In her eyes, at least.
"I-I do.. We are from the same world," she said. "Though, um, I-I think if you aren't exhausted after a session under Gai... Something isn't right."
no subject
She looked at the other girl thoughtfully before nodding. "Exactly. I mean, I'm not too happy about being pulled from my world, but people need help here..." She trailed off, hoping she could actually make a difference.
"I've found a few people from my world, too," Sheena said, laying back on her hands. "I think one of them might benefit from being trained by Gai," she said somewhat impishly. "He should be able to take it."
no subject
And she almost laughed at that. She could think of many people who could benefit from Gai's training, but they all seemed to avoid it. "Hopefully.. You could always try to get him here by telling him about the free breakfast.."
no subject
"Go ahead and laugh," Sheena prompted, doing so herself. "He always looks relaxed when he fights, but he's actually a pretty good fighter. Although, I doubt he's ever had an instructor as devoted to training as Gai, so he just might need that free breakfast."
no subject
She chuckled. "An-and that's not...such a bad thing. Being relaxed while fighting. It could throw off opponents... But, um, I-I don't think many people have had an instructor quite like...Gai." Even back in Konoha, the other instructors weren't as enthusiastic as Gai.
no subject
"No, looking at ease while fighting is one of the best ways to not only fool your opponent, but you can also take a hit easier." She stopped a moment as she recalled her own training. "I know my Grandpa was proud to teach his techniques, and he could get a little carried away occasionally. I'm not sure I could have handled both that and his goofiness on a constant basis."
no subject
She smiled. "But I do think you might have been able to."
no subject
She sighed and gave Hinata a wry look. "I hate to say this, but I think you're right. If I could survive goofy, I could probably survive his enthusiasm, too." She sighed and leaned back on her hands. "I wonder if any if that training I had will help me. I found out I'm a Weapon."
no subject
"There's only a thin line separating goofy and enthusiasm...or so I-I think." She smiled a little brighter. "But, um... It should? I-I don't see why it wouldn't."
no subject
She had to think about what Hinata said, finally nodding in agreement. "And I think Grandpa's crossed it so many times that it's blurred now," she chuckled. "And I hope it does. I'm already a weapon, if you think about it. I'm probably going to have to stop thinking like that though if I want it to work."
no subject
She cleared her throat and shook her head minutely. It wasn't the time or place to dwell on such things. "No, I...I think that that isn't bad to think about it that way. If anything, it should mean you have a better chance of working well with anyone. Since...well, since you already have an idea of it?"
no subject
She sat up and began picking at the grass in front of her. "Yeah, it should be easier, but from what they tell me, this is going to be different. I won't be the one deciding what to do. Someone else will." And that really didn't sit well with the young ninja.
no subject
"Um, anyway.. I-I do know what you mean there. It will be strange to have someone else deciding how and when to attack. I suppose we will just have to hope we find a good Meister, then." She smiled.
no subject
Sheena let her gaze wander briefly over to where others were meeting prospective partners before traveling over to where established partnerships were training. It wasn't the appearance of the couples that surprised her, but how easy they made the whole thing looked. Nodding in that direction, she said over her shoulder, "I guess if I can learn to fight with others as myself, I should be able to do that. Especially if I find a good Meister." She hoped.
no subject
And she follows Sheena's gaze. It really looked so easy, finding someone and working with them. Or maybe they simply weren't trained ninja who had issues working in such ways with others. "A good Meister will help, I think. It'll make all the difference. And it...it really can't be all that different."
no subject
That was where Sheena's problem lay. She was trained to fight on her own and not to rely on others, but she had swallowed that training and pride in order to fight in a group, using their skills of each other as each saw fit. Now, she was going to have to rely on someone else to tell her what to do. But she had to agree with the other girl. "Yeah, maybe a good Meister is like a sensei who focuses on a student's skill and works with it, and not against it." That would definitely make all the difference.
no subject
She nods again, this time listening to her words. "Maybe... Or it could be like a teammate you know very well..." Someone easy to work with together and separately. That's the closest and best analogy she could think of.
no subject
Now it's Sheena's turn to listen and nod. "I didn't think about that, but yeah, that can work, too." In fact, it sounds that it can work better than the sensei idea--since she tends to adapt her moves when she fights with others.
no subject
no subject
"Maybe that's why I'm hesitating to do this..." she mused. The loss of one partner was enough.
no subject
In a way, it reminded her of her sensei, right after her lover died and even to when she last saw her. To lose a partner...it happened. It wasn't good, it wasn't the end of the world, but it was the end of something.
"It's OK...to hesitate. It's not easy to find someone new to partner with. But at the same time...I-I can't quite see them, or anyone, wanting you to not find another one."
