[Open] Morning Training! - February 16th

Time: 5am to 10am

Description: Every morning in the city, Morning Training takes place to prepare the guests of the city for the war. It's handwaved most days, but approximately once a month this gets played out in a log. This log takes place on February 16th.

I train with them. Before I was handling the Watch, I used to be one of the instructors during these morning sessions.

Ah... Y'know, it'd be nice to spar with you again. It's been...what, years?

[Blinks, a little surprised by the offer.]

Are you really up for it right now?

[comradery]

[Though he was still recovering, a good stretch and some exercise would probably help considering he had been sitting around the last few days.]

Hehe. Probably not a full one, but if we pace it out, basic grabs, throws, and dodges should be fine—no strikes or rushes of course.

[Hum. Then straightening up.]

I guess it can't hurt.

Don't worry, if it's too much, I'll let you know.

[He sits forward and then rises to his feet.]

[Watching Hughes a moment, and then jerking his head towards one of the clearer spots.]

Don't cry on me when I'm done thoroughly beating you up.

[His old war instincts are back, and more than eight months in Death City have only made him stronger since he has not had alchemy to fall back on.]

[He grins.]

You sure you're not going to be the one crying?

[He had continued to keep up his training despite not being in active combat, after all. Desk work was boring!]

I'm very sure.

[Mildly, as he's putting some space between them.]

[He chuckles and stands at a good distance himself, getting in a defense stance with his arms raised and hands open. He grins playfully at Roy.]

All right then, Roy. Show me what you've got.

[A snort, as he's shifting weight from foot to foot --

-- and then he's charging right for you. He's gotten fast. He'll feint to the left, then aim for a good solid straight to the gut.]

[He sees it coming and pivots back on his foot, throwing down a hand to redirect the blow.]

Hehe. You've gotten faster, huh...

[He stays in a defensive stance and waits to see what Roy does next before attempting anything.]

Comes with the territory, running from monsters and all.

[Shifting to the side, trying to get around Hughes' guard and poke for a weak spot. Now for two kicks in quick succession.]

Hehehe. I suppose it would.

[Hughes' defenses are completely up, so it would be hard to crack past at the moment.

He throws off the first kick and blocks the second, taking the hit so he can gauge Roy's strength...and grab onto Roy's leg by grappling it.]

Hmm... Now, if I was shorter then that might have worked, but...hehehe.

[He tugs lightly at Roy's leg to emphasize his point before dropping it and jumping back a couple paces again for distance.]

It was worth a shot.

[Moving in again, then, to poke at that defense more. Hughes isn't the only one testing things out.]

[He merely grins and starts circling to the side. All his attention is set on Roy, and he waits for a chance to strike.]

This feels nostalgic, huh?

Just a bit, yeah.

[Circling as well, then coming at Hughes again, a little faster, a little stronger.]

[Roy's improved speed catches him slightly off guard, and Hughes narrowly dodges the lunge. He quickly jumps back a good distance to keep from being in Roy's direct range.

He whistles in amazement.]

Nimble littler bugger now, aren't you?

[He has seen enough though and switches to a more stabilized stance, the distance between his arms widening a little.]
