Description: Every morning in the city, Morning Training takes place to prepare the guests of the city for the war. It's handwaved most days, but approximately once a month this gets played out in a log. This log takes place on February 16th.

[[There we go!]] The dice are just used to keep things from being too predicable, so like if you're at the Dark Lord's castle and you trigger a trap, the DM rolls the dice to see if you've alerted the Dark Lord, or if you're safe another round, or if you're trying to sneak past a sleeping dragon, you have a roll to see if you make it properly or if you wake the dragon and have to fight it or hide.

[Fight a dragon? Now why in Heavenly Plain would she want to do that? The Dark Lord is another story.]

And you also use it for character creation, so you don't have a character who's just perfect at everything, because that wouldn't be much fun and there'd be no point to having a team then. So everyone can place the numbers their roll where they'd like in the sheet to start creating their character, so if you have a character who gets a really high intelligence roll, you can make them a magician, or if they get a high strength roll, they can be a fighter.

[Oh, so the dice determines a... character using a sheet. Huh.]

And once you have the characters all set up, then the game can start, with the DM explaining the story so far before the party starts out on the quest, exploring the map and finding out the hidden secrets to lead them along their journey.

It really is a lot of fun! We've had one session here so far that really went well. Some day when there aren't so many things happening, I should start the game properly, since dungeon crawls are pretty fun, but not as fun as the full game.

Aaa-- sorry, sorry! It's actually a family of games called RPGs, or Role Playing Games.

'Role Play'? So like a human performance?

Sort of! Only it's done with miniatures, or for some variations, just by dictating actions, but it's a lot easier to follow what's going on with the miniatures.

Back home, my favorite RPG, Monster World, had an entire game board that you could arrange with the villages and forests and castle that opened up so you could even have scenes there.

I've been thinking of trying to recreate it here, but mostly I've been just creating maps and the figures for it, since I'm not even sure if there'd be the room to build the whole board. [[And there were lots of distractions too, ranging from so many video games to catch up on to the more... distressing occurrences]]

Or if I really have the skill level to build something quite that complex. [[adds in a bit sheepishly. Never mind that the scale of the Egypt diorama and the detail that had already been going into that back home was far greater than he'd need for Monster World 2.0.]]

But if I could find Monster World here, even a variation of it, really, I'd love to be able to play it with everyone.... [[so wistful an expression there]]

I've asked a few people already. [[assures with a smile]] I'm starting to think it's another game that only exists back home, like Duel Monsters.
