EVENT: Retake the City

Description: There are Kishin eggs in the city. Like, everywhere. They've pretty much taken over and we can't have that, now can we?

Early in the morning, the sandstorm finally began to fade. By noon, it was gone completely, leaving behind far too much sand for comfort. The city is not in the best shape, having taken damage from the elements as well as the Kishin Eggs that are crawling all over the place, who seem to have made this place a new home.

They could move under the sand (and were quite fast when they did) and the fact that apart from their mouth the rest of their orifices was quite small it's clear that they were built to move like that. There's also the pesky fact that the city has buildings and alley ways they can hide in. The fact that Death City is layered like a cake is also a problem as it creates a lot of place for an enemy to jump down and ambush unsuspecting victims.

Of course, it's easy enough to repay in kind.

Either way, the familiar streets of Death City is now a battleground and the objective? Take back the city.

[Akiha had chosen to take the lead into this particular sector of Death City given it was where her business was located. Yes, she was more intent upon securing the Diner than she was pushing through the kishin eggs to make it to Fatality Condominiums.

Dressed in pants because of the lingering sandstorm instead of her usual skirt, hair pulled back into a ponytail with a scarf shielding her mouth and a pair of goggles on, the Two-Star meister knelt on the roof of an abandoned building they had already secured. Taking her goggles off, she wiped her face with a towel before shielding her eyes against the sun to look at the pack of kishin eggs between their position and the Diner a block away.]

I can see four from here, but however many we can see, it's best to assume there are at least that many we can't see given how these kishin eggs are giant sand sharks. There's also two alleys between here and the Diner that we can't see.

[This was Mizuno's first actual battle, and she was pretty sure she was doing a great job! Sure, it's terrifying facing off against these horrible things, but she feels confidant in her ability to handle the stress, and it helps that she has complete trust in her weapon. Well, okay, so they hadn't actually fought yet, but she's been seeing things in the distance and... that's a lot for her already.

But still, even when she spots something out of the corner of her eye and turns towards it, confirming a moment later that it's a Kishin Egg, she doesn't feel scared. Nervous, yes. But scared? Not at all.]

Ryou-kun, Ryou-kun! There's one over there! We're gonna beat it!!

[With that, she makes a beeline for the monster. Hell yeah she's gonna prove that she is a strong woman!!]

[Now that visibility was back, Kanji's spirits lifted. When the call came for all Meister/Weapon pairs to head out and eradicate the threat to retake Death City, it was a call they were more than happy to heed. They were entering the home stretch when it came to their own campaign, and in their eyes, these creepy-crawly bastards didn't look so tough!]

[The sand was soft and powdery, fresh from the storm. With their resonance so tight, he moved over the surface like he hardly weighed anything, tracking a trail of sand that was moving like something was underneath.]

Hah! Either this one's blind or it's runnin' from me! They ain't so tough without the storm to hide 'em!

[Mello is only too happy to get out of the shelter and see some action back in Death City. Between going out to fight and having seen the fragmented, panicked message from those Erinyes dumbasses, his mood verges on jubilant.

Near changes to his Weapon form in the shelter, and Mello solves four sides so they'll have the laser attack ready if they need it.

Once through the mirror, he decides to start working towards his district, Financial & Services, but there's so damn many of the kishin eggs that this plan, in practice, is more like 'face that direction and fight what's in front of you.'

Mello quickly realizes that this variation of kishin is built for the environment the storm left behind, obvious from the surface traces of the things quickly snaking just below the sand. Their resonance attack is perfect for these conditions. He zeroes in on one tunnelling along, takes aim, and speaks to his Weapon through their resonance.]

Got it in your sights?

[Psii stayed in city, mostly because knew she would be at shelter, and those were close quarters he would have done much more to avoid.

Meant to sleep after having mocha with Cupid, but that somehow hasn't happened. Hardware has not been cooperating like should lately, and instead of worrying about that, he dove back into programming project.

Which is probably why sense of caution has completely fled his thinkpan, and it doesn't even occur to him that Death City standing mostly-empty after sandstorm will attract unwelcome visitors. Food has run out, and Psii doesn't have much processing power to spare for anything but being hungry.

Until, that is, finds himself in streets so sand-strewn, are almost unrecognizable, with desert-adapted kishin eggs crisscrossing beneath the sand between him and communal hivestem.]

[Well, this certainly was another thing new to Fujino. Having to be evacuated to a shelter, going through a sandstorm to rescue someone, and now coming back to kishin eggs roaming about?

Thankfully, it was a lot less gruesome then what happened in Tegucigalpa, but she was still somewhat disgusted.]

...how terrible...

[No time to waste, though. With a nod towards her mentor, she immediately transformed.]

Guess we'll have to clean up this mess, so let's not leave any spots behind!

[ Masako certainly wasn't feeling like getting sand all over her clothes and in her hair, so she made sure to already transform as they left the sheloter to go back to the city. It's still fairly strange, being in her Weapon form, but she's willing to get over that - it's time to actually do something for once, after all. If they destroy enough of the Kishin eggs here right now, then maybe there will finally be some progress in that stupid war.

But as they're leaving to go outside and find one, she at least wants to make sure-- ]

You're ready, right?

While it was her duty to calm citizens down in the moments of hysteria, her job was also to make sure they were protected. As much as she had a dislike for the Erinyes for their misuse of the Network and attacks on Guests, they were still people who required help. It's why she snatched up her Weapon the moment the sand had cleared and bolted into the city.

It was a mess plain and simple, made worse by the Kishin eggs still lingering around, exposed now the storm subsided. Easily, the Meister and Weapon duo were cutting through the opposition as they made their way through Death City, Amaterasu's mind on checking Residential Quarter Three. It wasn't just where they lived, but that's where the park was. She wanted to check on the animals there.

Being able to go out was a relief to Rosalia, but she took the freedom to take off for Outer Residential Quarter One again. Problem was, she didn't actually know that the city was filled by Kishin eggs. It was a bigger problem when she ran into one of those eggs and had to run. She wasn't an athletic girl either, but ducking behind walls and small spaces worked to her advantage.

"A-Ah..." Rosalia trembled slightly, peering out from behind the wall when the egg passed, stepping out only once she was sure it was clear. This wasn't good. The clinic would have to be open soon to handle the fights that were going to come. People would need to be treated for injuries since these guys looked pretty bad. "... I should've waited for Disciple. How am I going to get to the clinic now?"

Landing on the roof, she rose to her feet, placing a hand on her hip. Yesterday was a bust... two fools in the storm impeding her from finishing off that Kishin egg. It got away, bleeding, but she doubted it was gone completely. Now with the sand down, there were plenty of eggs exposed crawling through the city. Well, they couldn't have that now.

Head turning, she blinked, spotting the trail of black-red blood. Springing down, Valentine moved swiftly, darting after it. She wouldn't let it out of her sight and any egg in her way would suffer. Unless she came across a Weapon, she would find a way to make it die.

[As difficult as things had been so far, it seemed it was mostly cleaned up in this area. Yes, Akiha was a little selfish in choosing what area of the town to fight in but everyone had their interests and it wasn't like she was shirking their duty.

That said, there may be one or two creatures still around but, for the moment, Sion felt they were safe. She stuck by Akiha's side just in case something else were to happen.]

Allow me to guess, you wish to check and make sure things inside are not all that damaged?

[It was a good thing that cotton-pickin’ storm finally died down, especially with the demons roaming around the city. Strong winds and fire magic would have been a disastrous combination!]

[But even with the storm’s end, it seemed wise to hang on to the goggles and dust mask from the day before with all the grit around. Lily hurried through the streets of the shopping district, leaving puffs of dust in her wake where her Keds disturbed the thick layer of sand that coated the ground. They were still a few blocks from Yesterday’s Magic but she slowed as she spotted a suspiciously large sand drift down the street.]

Sense anything yet?

[Finally! It was about time that storm finally ended! Morgan leaned against one of the lobby doors of Casualty Communal, pushed to dislodge the drift of sand that had gathered outside, and walked out into the street. It was good to be outside again!]

[Or at least that was what she thought until a huge worm-like creature appeared from around the corner of a building, pungent drool dripping from its oversized mouth. She made a face, completely grossed out.]

Eww.

[The worm lunged for her and she leapt up onto the monster’s head, jumping off it like a springboard and somersaulting through the air to land behind it. But the creature turned, moving her way again. Drat! Now, she really wished she had her Blade of Dragotta.]

To say that Chika was unhappy would be a massive understatement. All in all, she was actually pretty pissed. It was bad enough that they had had to deal with the sandstorm like this, but not only that, there were kishin eggs everywhere. Nowhere was safe, and she really, really didn't want to have to deal with these things right now.

At least Asuka was with her, Chika's hands clenching around her as the two of them finished off another one of the Kishin eggs. They were... well, as far as she could tell, they were near her apartment building. But that didn't matter much right now. Not with a battle to fight.

"How are you holding up, Asuka?"

This wasn't anything like the last mission that the two of them went on, after all. These things were a lot harder to deal with. She was definitely going to have to make sure that they didn't over do it here.

[Takuto's supposed to be the Deputy Zone Leader for the shopping district, so that's where he wants to head. He turns to Eren.]

So, this time I'm going to need your help figuring out how to properly wield you. [Actually, he still needs help figuring out how to wear the weapon. But he's imagining their resonance will be better now that he has a better idea of the kind of person Eren is after sparring with him and hanging out with him at the shelter.]

[ the troll left the shelter to look for her partner, but he is no where to be found. She doesn't seem to be able to send any message to his communicator and Winters hasn't tried to contact her either. Frustrated, the Condesce walks through the city with sand getting in her hair, trying to make her way to her apartment and bitch at Winters (or to find him gone, since he left the city without she even realizing due to the sandstorm).

The thing is, there are kishin eggs, so she actually would prefer to be killing them than to bother with Winters, but she doesn't have a weapon.

Hissing, she keeps walking fast through the streets ]

[so it might have taken him a little longer than he wanted, but he managed to find firecracker. of course with the help from valentine, if she didn't help he would have probably died during his search. well, that's exaggerating it a little. but he would have gotten hurt nonetheless. but anyway. now that he had the dog in hand he made his way back to fatality condominiums. this would be so much easier though if he hadn't over done it though. but he'll trek on through, mostly because if he does find a place to rest he'll stay there and pass out. and that would be stupid.]

_{[Karkat had actually had a decent amount of fun stuck in his hive with John, Dave, and Kanaya. Okay, he had a great time. But that had all come crashing to a halt when they realized there were a shit ton of Kishin Eggs outside. There's no way Karkat's going to sit on his ass when a battle's going on, so he slips on the sand-resistant scarf with his symbol on it that Kanaya got for him. Not that it'll be much use for long, considering he needs to transform.]} Alright guys, fun time's over. Now we kick ass.

[It had been with a little coaxing that Johan had managed to get Judai to agree with going out to help clear out the city. He couldn't deny that he was a touch apprehensive about it himself, given how sour their last mission attempt had gone, but with the sheer number of pairs that were out there helping, there was no possible way something that disastrous would happen again. Once out in the open once more, it was a matter of finding a place to shelter for a few moments in order to give them a little time to get a game plan. Or, at least, as much ofa game plan as they would need. Chances were good that they'd just wind up playing this whole thing by ear as much as possible.]

It looks like they're traveling around in the sand more than anything else. [The comment is quiet, not wanting to draw too much unwanted attention from the Kishin eggs.] So let's not wander into pits that are deep with sand. Stay in the shallower areas, right?

Neji surveyed the heaping mounds of sand with a frown, holding Lee loosely in one hand. The sunlight reflecting off of them left him squinting against the glare.

There are Kishin Eggs buried within the dunes. They'll be trouble for anyone and challenging even for us, however...

The world inverted to a mass of greyed-out buildings and blue souls where sand had been.

I can see them.
