EVENT: Retake the City
Characters: Every who signed up to retake the city
Location: Death City
Rating: PG
Time: July 4th
Description: There are Kishin eggs in the city. Like, everywhere. They've pretty much taken over and we can't have that, now can we?
Early in the morning, the sandstorm finally began to fade. By noon, it was gone completely, leaving behind far too much sand for comfort. The city is not in the best shape, having taken damage from the elements as well as the Kishin Eggs that are crawling all over the place, who seem to have made this place a new home.
They could move under the sand (and were quite fast when they did) and the fact that apart from their mouth the rest of their orifices was quite small it's clear that they were built to move like that. There's also the pesky fact that the city has buildings and alley ways they can hide in. The fact that Death City is layered like a cake is also a problem as it creates a lot of place for an enemy to jump down and ambush unsuspecting victims.
Of course, it's easy enough to repay in kind.
Either way, the familiar streets of Death City is now a battleground and the objective? Take back the city.

Could they save him in time? Lee wasn't sure but he damned sure was going to try.
Everything happened so quickly that Lee almost wasn't sure if he could believe was happened next. There was a sudden powerful surge, something that went beyond his own power boosts. It was blinding, and for a moment Lee realized he wasn't quite Lee anymore. He was seeing through Neji's eyes, and not the same way as their usual Clairvoyance worked.
He was an extension of Neji's soul and his power, like they had been fused into some ungodly creature of destruction. The Kishin Eggs were swift to turn their attention to the actual threat rushing upon them, but they were much too slow. The one nearest the man, the one that had ripped half-way through his arm, it was pierced by the sharp, whipping hands of his Meister, sending sparks of power akin to Soul Menace through its system.
The creature was downed in that one hit, causing the other two to back away as if wary, but there was little they could do by run as the super-speedy combination of Lee and Neji gave chase to them with a righteous fury.

He surged forward with a speed and strength he'd never known and leaped forward with blinding agility, pinning the tail of one of the Eggs to the ground. He used it to run up the creatures body and stabbed roughly where he guessed the largest concentration of internal organs were to deliver another hard burst of chakra-wavelength into it's body to kill it.
One left, and the wood of his arms and Lee's batons came up bloody. The last remaining Kishin Egg made for a deep dune of sand to escape in, that they couldn't allow it to reach..!
Neji used every bit of their speed to catch up to it and cut it off. It was normally a stupid move to get in front of it, but he was at a higher level than he had been even at home, a little drunk on power as he surged forward to put the end of another arm through the Kishin's, but his strength faded, and the makeshift lance of his arms veered off, scraping across the side of it's pointed face, nowhere deep enough to pull off a useful internal attack.
His hands slid against blood. His actual hands, with fingers wrapped around Lee's baton and a strange emptiness. But the Kishin Egg's mouth opened and he leaped back, feeling exhaustion tug on him that only training kept him from giving into.
We'll need to rest after this, he communicated faintly, then shook and forced himself to focus. They had it's attention at least. It didn't seem interested in running away anymore, and seemed to be able to tell he wasn't as strong as he had been a few moments before.

Jacking up their power and speed, augmenting what energy Neji had lost, Lee turned yellow in Neji's hands as they charged the last Kishin Egg. Its expectations of easy prey were swiftly cut short as Lee managed to keep their speed up a good notch, though he knew what Neji had said was right. They needed to rest or else he was going to start backfiring after this...

It writhed beneath his feet, trying to throw them off and Neji slipped, grasping at the creature's fan-like fin to hold on, grunting as he felt the serrated edges cut through his palm. He let himself fall, unwilling to lose his hand for the effort of staying on, and the creature rolled over completely just as he hit the ground.
A mistake that would cost it, as it exposed its belly. Though it struggled to right itself, Neji placed his bloodied hand on it and concentrated, releasing as strong a burst of wavelength as he could manage.
It wasn't much, but the creature gurgled in pain and Neji moved back around it for the head, calling on as much power as he could muster from Lee, striking hard just before Lee's batons went red, and they watched it still and begin to disintegrate.
Neji dropped to a knee to catch his breath, felt his arms shake and his blood mixing with the Kishin Egg's. He released Lee.
"Go check.. on the civilian."

Then it was over and Neji was kneeling on the ground, letting him return to himself. Worried about leaving Neji on the sands when the Kishin Eggs were still running loose, Lee hesitated a moment before reaching for his medicine pouch. He tossed a roll of bandaging to Neji then made his way to their civilian charge, who was crying and thanking them with his every breath. So sad to see, but at least he was safe even if his arm would have difficulty healing, if it healed at all.
Lee used his leftover medical tape to create a make-shift tourniquet, then offered to carry the man on his back while they rushed him to a medical building, whatever they could find nearby.
"Neji, can you stand?" If he had to leave Neji here, Lee wanted to be reassured he wasn't anywhere near the sand at least until he could come back for him. "Or should we move you to the rooftop?"

He reactivated Clairvoyance and moved toward Lee, glancing to the injured civilian with a nod.
"I'll escort you to Rosalia-san and she'll help you."
Less for the civilian's welfare and more for Lee's, but the same, more or less. Lee's hands would be full with the civilian and he didn't have Neji's vision. Although he could've given Lee the ability through distance resonance, he wasn't very good at keeping track of a lot at once, and might need to be prepared to counter a surprise attack.
Glancing around, Neji assured no Kishin Eggs were in the immediate vicinity, he rifled through his bag of supplies and poured a bottle of water over his injured palm to clear it of blood, then took the bandages and began to wrap it as they moved.
"We can rest at the the medical ward for awhile, and be ready to defend it if necessary."

Hefting his charge on his back, Lee took a deep breath and began to job along with Neji towards the medic's. Neji's Clairvoyance was a great boon through their short trek, managing to keep them away from several enemies as they headed into the ward. The problem was worse than Lee had first imagined. He wondered if there was a way to possibly use Neji's ability to scout out the area and for them to send teams, one by one, after the groups of Kishin. It would be effective, but in this turmoil who knew if anyone could be assembled beyond a few of their Watchmen.
They delivered their charge into Rosalia's capable hands, and managed to escape her worried looks by assuring her Neji's injury was not nearly so bad. But she would likely come looking for them, so they made their way to the rooftop, both to give themselves some privacy as well as to act as sentinels for the ward. It was there that Lee had Neji sit down and he pulled back the bandaging, intent on applying some anticeptic balm and then reapplying the bandages with a steadier hand than Neji could have on his own.
"So..." Lee began as he carefully peeled away the bloody mess from Neji's palm. "... What do you think that was back there?"

On the roof, he let Lee take his hand and reduced the range of his vision to the immediate area surrounding the clinic.
He didn't need to ask what Lee meant, and mulled it over.
"We've been working on it," he said after a minute. "That was probably.. our Soul Resonance attack."

"That was... intense," Lee said, careful as he slathered the balm over the cut. It was a little deep and Lee worried, even though he knew there was a way for Rosalia to heal it faster along with the other medics here in Death City. Neji needed his hands.
"Do you think we could do it again soon?"

"I can't say. Once it was over, it felt like my body was recovering from the effects of Jyuuken. Relying on your strength to compensate turned you red rather quickly. It's risky, and seems like something that may be most suited for desperate situations."
He was a little disappointed that it had been so short-lived.

"Perhaps we will just need more training? I am certain we can master its usage if we keep at it!" But even Lee would agree that it could be dangerous if they weren't careful.
Gently, he secured a bandage around Neji's injury, then packed up the rest of the balm and bandaging to return to Rosalia later. "There. It should be fine to fight with this way... for a bit. If necessary."

"We'll set up a special course at training," he said. "If it's going to combine your speed and strength with Jyuuken or Soul Menace, I want to recreate 64 palms so we can utilize that time most effectively."
He flexed his newly bandaged hand, feeling only minimal pain. It would be worse after he fought for awhile with Lee in hand, but that was why he had two. He wasn't quite ambidextrous, but very close.
"Thank you, Lee. We'll see Rosalia about it before we leave."

And even though they were technically out in the open, Lee still reached for Neji's hand again and brought it to his lips for a tender kiss. "Thank you, Neji."
He wouldn't be able to rest if they went home without the injury being seen to. But for now, they still had a job to do. Returning to business, Lee gazed over the buildings surrounding them. "Can you get into contact with Auron-san? Perhaps we can organize a better sweep of the city."

He cleared his throat and nodded shortly, fishing out his communicator. He searched through his contacts for Auron and pressed it down to call.
"We'll see about leaving when you're green again."
