EVENT: Retake the City
Characters: Every who signed up to retake the city
Location: Death City
Rating: PG
Time: July 4th
Description: There are Kishin eggs in the city. Like, everywhere. They've pretty much taken over and we can't have that, now can we?
Early in the morning, the sandstorm finally began to fade. By noon, it was gone completely, leaving behind far too much sand for comfort. The city is not in the best shape, having taken damage from the elements as well as the Kishin Eggs that are crawling all over the place, who seem to have made this place a new home.
They could move under the sand (and were quite fast when they did) and the fact that apart from their mouth the rest of their orifices was quite small it's clear that they were built to move like that. There's also the pesky fact that the city has buildings and alley ways they can hide in. The fact that Death City is layered like a cake is also a problem as it creates a lot of place for an enemy to jump down and ambush unsuspecting victims.
Of course, it's easy enough to repay in kind.
Either way, the familiar streets of Death City is now a battleground and the objective? Take back the city.

Amaterasu and Ghoulia | Outer Residential Quarter Three | Closed
It was a mess plain and simple, made worse by the Kishin eggs still lingering around, exposed now the storm subsided. Easily, the Meister and Weapon duo were cutting through the opposition as they made their way through Death City, Amaterasu's mind on checking Residential Quarter Three. It wasn't just where they lived, but that's where the park was. She wanted to check on the animals there.

To save people, was the long and short of it.
After the time spent with minimal exertion in the bunker, Ghoulia's performance was top notch. Cleaving through one Kishin egg after the next, it was no wonder that there were individuals in trouble-- and to think she had almost insisted on staying. What an unwise choice that would have been, and it wouldn't be one she would ever risk making again.
But the park wasn't far, and it was obvious what Amaterasu was focused on, and she wasn't going to suggest they go anywhere else until the Goddess' mind was at ease.
"So many of them stayed after the sandstorm left; I can't imagine why they would abandon its safety. ... Unless they are truly that hungry."

Fools, the lot of them, but they had to rescue those who were still alive. They would face punishment by human hand as they rightly deserved. Sliding to a halt on her paws, Amaterasu came to look around at the park. It was mostly what she expected after a storm like this. Covered in sand and a majority of the plants blown over or blasted away.
Her head snapped when she spotted a rock in particular and a sleek, fennec fox-like kishin egg digging at it, growling as it attempted to get at something hiding beneath. Her lip curled and she snarled, grabbing its attention at once.

"They wouldn't endanger their own city, their own people. If they wanted to let Kishin eggs in, they would have sabotaged the sandstorm shelter."
But then they were at the park, and that was certainly a Kishin egg digging its way as if it was trying to get at something. Amaterasu was quick to get its attention, so while she was occupied with it... She would keep her eyes on the surroundings. They had the size advantage, and hopefully the speed advantage, but they were about to find out weren't they?
"I don't see any others nearby just yet."

The Fennec egg's large ears rotated and Amaterasu charged in, paws pounding. She didn't even bother whipping out the chainsaw just yet, fangs grabbing its before it attempted to flee. It yelped and hissed, turning to scratch madly at the wolf, but that was staved off by the flat of the Weapon. A brief tug back and she let go, the egg bolting, but it didn't get too far.
"We'll finish here before moving on..."
A kick of energy to prompt Ghoulia into starting up, she chased down the egg and pounced, bringing the whirring chain down.

The surge of energy, though, spurred Ghoulia on to rev up to full speed. She knew what was coming, cleaving at the Kishin egg, and she was quick to do exactly as she knew Amaterasu wanted her to. Of course, it meant bad news for the little Fennec egg because a chainsaw is an unkind thing to be struck with. It took only a second or two for the Kishin egg to be no more, leaving behind a soul.
A thought crossed her mind, though, as she saw the soul. It wasn't an option yet, but... with this one Kishin egg out of the way, she briefly reverted to her normal form to take the soul in-hand and consume it. Bleh. It still tasted like nothing, like flavorless jello, but it couldn't just be left to roam free. But more time spent as a human was bad, so she reverted to her chainsaw form before asking her question.
"I've heard that some weapons are capable of only partially transforming themselves, but I wonder if the reverse is possible. Reverting just a small part while in weapon form.
Be it an arm to grab something... or more relevantly a mouth to eat a kishin egg soul without putting herself at risk. It was a curious thought. Though the idea of having a chainsaw arm while being a zombie was an amusing notion to her.

The soul left behind, Amaterasu glanced around while Ghoulia briefly changed back to collect it. That had to be the... third soul? Yes, that seemed about right. There were still more Kishin eggs to handle, but the goddess approached the rock the egg had been digging at. In its hungered mind, it hadn't just bothered to flip the rock over as Amaterasu did, revealing a hole leading into a chain of burrows. Poking her head in, she smelled no blood which was good.
"Partially... Well, it might be. If you can partially transform one way, why not the other?"
It made sense to have it both ways, did it not? Turning her head this way and that, she finally smelled a live bunny and waited. It hopped closer and closer until it touched her nose and began sniffing. Her tail wagged, pleased that the rabbits made it through.

"I may have to consider practicing it, then, for my own safety in the field."
And then there was the rabbit, and it was all too obvious that Amaterasu was pleased. Ghoulia, too, shared in the relief that they were okay. They, too, were residents of Death City, and the park would be a lonely, sad place without its residents still around.

"Mmm, when the city is all cleaned up again..."
Giving the rabbit a small nuzzle, the wolf withdrew herself from the burrow and covered it up again. They would only be safe after the last Kishin egg fell. The scent of many others already came to her so she took off to hunt, picking up one too close for her liking.

"Yes. I truly wonder if it will ever be possible to be rid of all of this sand.
It was truly baffling how many Kishin eggs had moved in. The typical missions offered by Shibusen kept them going out, far away from the city. But yet here they were, fighting on their own home turf. In the place where everything was supposed to be safe.
It was unsettling.
