OPEN TO EVERYONE: Summer Gala

Characters: Everyone!
Location: By the Park swimming pool
Rating: G to PG (any higher rating, please make a private log)
Time: 20th June (FORWARDED DATE)
Notes: Go ahead and add links as you please under the main threads. If there is anything you need or I forgot, contact me and I will add!

Tonight, the park is full of life. Lights show the way towards the swimming pool, where you can find large white tents set up, all connected to each other. Music, loud chatter and laugher come from them, and inside you may find Guests and Natives enjoying the night together, a rare sight after recent events happening in the City. But tonight, all of that is to be forgotten. Maybe.

Welcome to the Summer Gala.

Feel free to leave your coat by the Coat room, listening to music (some songs are even played by Guests such as Karina, Shinji, Nanami, Hamel and John), dance together (don’t forget the Partner’s dance!), enjoy good food and good drinks, and perhaps after take a stroll by the swimming pool and the park.

But please, don’t forget to thank your hosts, Keroro’s and Eve’s Metokkori R and Hikan Café, and thank Cupid, Lily’s Yesterday's Magic, Hyoubu’s World’s End, Condesce’s Betty Crocker Bakery and the Watch for all their help. And if there is any disaster with your clothing and hair tonight, look for Kanaya and she will give you a hand!

[Lily paused to stare down at what remained of her desert, wondering how much it would have cost in his world. She supposed it was a good thing it wasn't nearly as expensive here!]

It was that expensive where you came from? Is that why you like butterscotch instead?

The cake you consumed costs about three to five Death Dollars here... back home, you would have easily paid in the triple digits for small bite-sized pieces; chocolate was reserved for ceremonies or very special occasions of indulgence. You had to make it count.

In part, yes. It was easier to make, even if the sugar cost something of a pretty OTH, though significantly cheaper than the cacao derivative of confectionery. About half.

I take it that's why your mama didn't let you have many sweets then. At that price, I don't think even I would eat chocolate!

And I guess it wasn't easy to get the ingredients either without modern transportation. [So, the expense would kind of make sense...]

Precisely. The cacao's ideal growing conditions were in a region that could only be accessed by the occasional carriage shipment that could make it through the mountain passes without being destroyed by monsters and the undead.

Great balls of fire! Cacao-destroying monsters, too? Was there anything that went right in your world?

Ha ha ha! Life was never exactly easy for those in Midgard, and with the gods' agenda on top of everything else, humanity was quite oppressed.

It sure doesn't sound like a nice place to live. [So, she had to wonder why he was laughing about it!] Although I guess that means being homesick isn't a problem for you.

Considering I would also be returning to the world's demise, no. Why feel sick for a home that isn't there anymore? To me it seems a waste of perfectly good thought.

[personal profile] vintage_magic 2013-09-05 06:03 am (UTC)(link)
I suppose it is. [She frowned, wondering if she was being insensitive.] I just thought most folks would rather be back home, like me.

[Just a smile, with absolutely nothing behind it.]

Perhaps most do. I would surmise the dead that BREW had brought back to fight in this war feel the same as I.

Did that contraption bring that many people back to life? Someone else mentioned it earlier, too... [And she found the thought somewhat disturbing.]
lezard_valeth: (Default)

[personal profile] lezard_valeth 2013-09-06 03:01 am (UTC)(link)
Not only that, but individuals with what they had sworn were terminal illnesses found their maladies in stasis, if not cured completely.

Perhaps in honoring the young shinigami's wish, BREW saw fit to create the ideal fighting conditions.

[personal profile] vintage_magic 2013-09-06 05:38 am (UTC)(link)
What in the Sam Hill?! It cured sick people? [Did that contraption actually do something helpful for once? But...]

It still seems kind of sadistic to cure them and then throw them into a war.

[personal profile] lezard_valeth 2013-09-12 04:02 am (UTC)(link)
Quite. I wonder where everyone will stand once the war is over and everyone is able to return home. Who will stay in health, but in a world that is not theirs...?
vintage_magic: (frown)

[personal profile] vintage_magic 2013-09-12 05:31 am (UTC)(link)
I reckon that would be a difficult choice. Stay here and be healthy but never see your friends and family again. Or go back to the people you know but possibly be sick again. [Yeah, BREW still seems sadistic...]
lezard_valeth: (Default)

[personal profile] lezard_valeth 2013-09-12 01:49 pm (UTC)(link)
And if you were one of them...? I wonder what choice you'll make?
vintage_magic: (serious)

[personal profile] vintage_magic 2013-09-12 06:01 pm (UTC)(link)
[She considered a moment. She did like some of the people she'd met here but to be in a world there would still be a war on witches in this day and age...]

I think I'd rather go back. I don't know if I'd see my family again even if I did but there's still my friends. And I suppose I don't have to ask what your choice would be. [He'd already made it clear there wasn't really anything left for him back home. But that prompted another thought.] What would happen anyway if someone never returned? Would their world just be stuck at that moment forever?
lezard_valeth: (Default)

[personal profile] lezard_valeth 2013-09-12 06:26 pm (UTC)(link)
Likely. The theory is that that particular thread of time freezes with one of its participants missing, and should someone die here, that thread would be doomed to stagnation.

There is some truth in it, I suppose, when those who have gone home and returned spy nothing unusual about their return, driven right back to where they were when BREW selected them.

So you would, in kind, still have your dilemma involving mirrors and lost souls waiting.
vintage_magic: (serious)

[personal profile] vintage_magic 2013-09-12 07:31 pm (UTC)(link)
That's a depressing thought... And nothing did seem to change when I went back although I couldn't remember this place.

Yet another reason to go back. I can't just leave Miriam there.
