Tonight, the park is full of life. Lights show the way towards the swimming pool, where you can find large white tents set up, all connected to each other. Music, loud chatter and laugher come from them, and inside you may find Guests and Natives enjoying the night together, a rare sight after recent events happening in the City. But tonight, all of that is to be forgotten. Maybe.

Welcome to the Summer Gala.

Feel free to leave your coat by the Coat room, listening to music (some songs are even played by Guests such as Karina, Shinji, Nanami, Hamel and John), dance together (don’t forget the Partner’s dance!), enjoy good food and good drinks, and perhaps after take a stroll by the swimming pool and the park.

[And now that she's actually in the ballroom...she's finding herself quite bored, actually. The music is just about dull, and she's just standing off to the side, picking at her ear and trying to get any gunk out that might be caught in there. But during all of this, she's still snickering at the people who are just aimlessly dancing around. For some reason, she's getting a kick out of all of this.

Then again, she does look rather lonely, and looks as though she might be up for a dance. Except...they'd really have to try to get her to go out there- which might not be happening for a good while.]

_{[Karkat isn't here because he wants to be. He came because of the Watch, and maybe a little to hear John play the piano. Otherwise, he would not have shown up anywhere near here. He doesn't like dancing, or music, or being around large groups of strange people. There is actually a flash of relief showing on his face for a second when he catches site of Mina.]} You're here too, huh? Doesn't seem like your scene.

[Oh, look, it's her favorite troll. Her eyes only glaze over to where he was, herself giving off a shrug. She doesn't look too happy to be here either, but if it beats sitting at home...]

What, can't a girl enjoy herself without having to sit at home? Eeeh, I didn't really wanna come here, in the first place...but then again I'd get too damned bored, and making fun of people is pretty much what I live for. So, why the fuck not?

Yeah. I didn't really want to come either, but the Watch needed me to take a shift, and I'm supposed to dress up to fit in. So, yeah, why the fuck not? _{[He is in fact dressed up, courtesy of a fashionista friend of his. It's obvious he didn't pick it out, but he wears it well, if a little awkwardly.]}

Hah, you got put on Watch duty? Man, that sucks- guess you couldn't have gotten out of this even if you tried, huh? Sorry, Karkat, looks like you got the shit end of the stick. [She's snickering to herself here, before her attention perks up on a little fact.]

...the hell are you doing, walking around here, then? Nice suit, by the way, suits ya, I guess.

Yeah, it fucking sucks. I figured I'd be able to avoid coming no problem, but Neji made a big deal about security here, so here I am.

My shift's not until late. I'll be around when everyone is stumbling home obnoxiously. But a friend of mine insisted I come earlier, so I could have a little "fun" before I had to go on duty. Besides, this way spending all that money on a suit isn't a waste. By the time I go on duty no one will be able to see it, probably.

Oh. Thanks. I don't know anything about clothes, so my friend Kanaya helped me find it. She was practically drooling over all the dresses and suits and shit. She's totally into fashion, and it's a good thing too because otherwise I would have probably shown up in the most hideous suit known to man without even realizing it.

Haha, looks like they got you on tight surveillance. Sorry, I would try some way of getting you out of this, but...nah, I'll let you worry about that on your own.

At least you had a friend that insisted that you come. No one really invited me to one of these things before... [That last part she says quietly to herself, a light blush coming on to her face.] ...a-anyways. Look, you better hope no one you know catches you, either. They might just ask you to dance to one of these retarded songs.

[And the music is really annoying her, but...] So, what you're saying is that you can't find a good suit to match you? Good thing you have some connections, wow. I can't imagine what you'd be like without friends.

_{[He shrugs.]} I'm already here. Besides, there's no way I would be able to stay as long as I'm planning to if I didn't get a break at the end of the night to patrol.

I'm surprised she invited me, honestly. I'm not really cut out for fancy parties. I guess she just wanted to go with someone, and I was going to be here anyway, so why not. There has to be someone that would invite you. Maybe you just haven't met them yet. ...Have you seen me try to dance? They'd have to be insane, or maybe have a death wish.

Still, kinda sucks you got roped into this whole "patrol" bullshit. Guess I better not do anything funny here, huh? [There's a small smile to what she said. She was planning something, but that'd be for much later.]

What, you can't enjoy one of these parties without being such a downer about it? But nah, like anyone would invite me to this thing. I think everyone here either hate my guts, or wishes I could disappear without doing something menacing to them. [Not to mention names, but...] Hey, I'd want to see you dance. I'd get a kick out of it since I know you'd be horrible.

No, I can't. Like I said, I'm not cut out for parties. There are few things I'm good at and none of those things should be done at parties. I don't hate your guts and I don't wish you'd disappear, although I'd prefer if you didn't disembowel me or something. _{[Wow seriously. But he sucks at dancing. [She's holding her hands up, her face suddenly changing into something extremely adorable and innocent.] W-Would you really think that I would do something bad and evil? You're really cruel, Mister...! I just want to have a little fun while I'm here...!

[And while she's at it...] W-Well, I'm a little nervous myself when it comes to parties, I'm afraid I'll end up saying the wrong things most of the time, and...and it's really hard to...shit, I can't keep up this god damn act around you without busting out into laughter. [She sighs, a little bit of a grin coming up on her face.] ...wait, you think I'm gonna dance with you? Hell no, I'm not cut out for that shit.

And I wanted to try out how well I can resonate with other weapons. My partner's a complete jackass so we work out, now I wanna see how I work with other jackasses. [Meaning...]

[Minatsuki's eyes glaze over to where the voice had come from, finding herself the target of a girl she had probably never seen before, but hey, she didn't seem to be too bad. That, or she might have caught her making fun of people. Either way, to her question, Minatsuki merely shrugged it off, her face just not looking amused one bit.]

Dance? Feh, like I'd be half assed to do some bullshit like that. It's better to watch some other assholes do it themselves, it's pretty funny, y'know?

I'm just saying, it seems pretty unlikely that there isn't a single dance that doesn't at least look okay. [And that's the moment that this song starts playing.] Oh, like this one! It's a little old, but it's still popular. Lemme show you how this one looks.

[Minatsuki seems so dumbfounded at the fact that the actual dance goes along with the lyrics of the song- but she can't just...well, leave the other girl hanging like that. She's gritting her teeth though, moving next to Minako, a scoffing.] Feh, this better actually be worth it...
