Tonight, the park is full of life. Lights show the way towards the swimming pool, where you can find large white tents set up, all connected to each other. Music, loud chatter and laugher come from them, and inside you may find Guests and Natives enjoying the night together, a rare sight after recent events happening in the City. But tonight, all of that is to be forgotten. Maybe.

Welcome to the Summer Gala.

Feel free to leave your coat by the Coat room, listening to music (some songs are even played by Guests such as Karina, Shinji, Nanami, Hamel and John), dance together (don’t forget the Partner’s dance!), enjoy good food and good drinks, and perhaps after take a stroll by the swimming pool and the park.

But please, don’t forget to thank your hosts, Keroro’s and Eve’s Metokkori R and Hikan Café, and thank Cupid, Lily’s Yesterday's Magic, Hyoubu’s World’s End, Condesce’s Betty Crocker Bakery and the Watch for all their help. [While much too big to go inside the tents, Bumblebee is still attending this shindig. He's just..hanging around outside of the tent. Though not a member of the Watch, he is still keeping an eye on things. While not wearing formal clothes because he is a robot, he does have on a large bowtie.

Feel free to greet him on your way inside.]

[ oh, wow. Bumblebee also came.

The red head comes closer to the robot, to greet him ]

[Bots know how to have fun too! And he'd feel left out if he didn't come.]

Decided to come and party too?

[Bumblebee nods.]

♫ It sounded like fun ♫ [He didn't think he would see Matt here, though.]

♫ What about you ♫

[ matt didn't think he'd be here either, honestly ]

Ah- trying not to regret my decision to come. It's not exactly my cup of tea.

♫ Why did you come here? ♫ [It should have been easy enough for him to stay home if he didn't want to be there, right?]

"Curiosity killed the cat". Or something like that.

[Bumblebee plays a short laugh track sound effect at that.]

♫ Are you alone? ♫

Yeah, I am. I'm not the kind of guy to come with a pair.

And you?

Mello with Near in tow, Near tag coming if that's cool by you!

[Near is obviously never going to take the initiative himself, and Mello obviously would do quite a bit to see his partner interacting with possibly the one guest in Death City who's capable of turning him into a fanboy. The slight acquaintance that comes of Mello knowing Bumblebee's partner is good enough for his purposes.

So after a bit of cajoling, Mello is not quite outright dragging Near over to the robot. He needs to do a perimeter check anyway.]

Hey. This is Near. Fabiola and I have been trying to get him to talk to you. He has about a million toy robots.

[Mello's already in Near's bad graces over making him wear a suit; he can deal with the fallout from embarrassing him.]

[Near reluctantly agrees to do a perimeter check, but as soon as he realizes where they are headed and who they will find on their way there, his reluctance turns into something else entirely, and the only reason he doesn't stop walking and actually has Mello drag him along is because that would be even more embarrassing than what he is already experiencing.

No, not embarrassing: mortifying.

When they finally reach Bumblebee and Mello makes his evil, terrible plan known out loud, Near doesn't say anything to his partner, not even though their resonance, but the death glare he sends him says everything he could ever try to voice out loud. There will be hell to pay after this.

To say Near feels awkward would be a gross understatement, and he reaches up to twirl a strand of hair in embarrassment as he finally looks at Bumblebee and dares to speak out loud:]

[Bumblebee looks in Mello’s direction when he speaks to him. Then he looks over to Near when he mentions his name. So this was him. Bumblebee had heard about him through Matt, but he didn’t know that Fabiola knew the guy as well. He honestly didn’t know why Near couldn’t come and talk to him himself, especially if he really liked robots. Mostly people that found Bumblebee fascinating would approach him on their own, at least in his experience.

Bumblebee drops down to one knee in front of both of the guys and greets them using his radio.]

♫ Hello, Hello ♫

♫ Nice to meet you ♫

And I'm Mello. Nice to meet you, too.

[He's making sure to be polite, even going so far as to mostly-smile, in conscious contrast to Near's social ineptitude.]

You're from the same world Barricade was. Aren't you?

[Near’s eyes widen when senpai notices him Bumblebee drops down to one knee, and he openly stares at the robot when he greets them, remaining silent until he realizes that he’s supposed to say something in return, too.]

Er. It’s nice to meet you, too.

[He tries not to break eye contact-- people are supposed to keep eye contact when having a conversation, and he suspects the same may apply to actual living robots-- but he quickly finds it impossible not to look and observe Bumblebee closely now that he has an opportunity to do so. Oh, he’s seen him on the network before, and he examined him through the surveillance footage far too many times by now, but none of it can compare to having the robot right in front of him, to see the gleam and the color of different robot parts, to try and catch a peek of how he works…

Near blinks when he realizes he’s probably being very rude by staring openly instead of talking, and while he normally wouldn’t give a damn about being rude or not, this is the first time in his life that he’s acting like a fanboy he doesn’t want to make a bad impression, and he has absolutely no idea of how the hell he should act. This is why he never tried to start up a conversation or meet the robot in any way: he doesn’t know what he can say or do in such a situation, and he’ll end up making a fool of himself and feel like crawling into a hole where he can hide in for a very long time.]

[Bumblebee looked to Mello and gave a nodded his head to his question.]

♫ He is my enemy ♫ [Needless to say, he was happy that the jerkbot was gone from this place. That was one less thing he had to worry about. Even if the full array of their abilities were gone, him and Barricade still had superior size and strength to the average human. So they still posed a bigger threat.

He looks back to Near and he holds his hand out and wiggles his fingers so that he can see all his mechanical bits working in his arm. If not for the BREW locking his ability to transform, he would show him some of his other features. Such as changing his arm into a cannon. ]

[Mello's trying to hide a smile at how blatantly (for him) fascinated Near is. He can tell through their resonance that the Weapon is nervous about making a good impression, and though he's probably never thought of him as cute, this? Kind of is.]

Heh, not surprised. He didn't strike me as one to play well with others.

[Much like Mello himself; they had got along fairly well in their few conversations.]

[Lily is on her way in to the party, dressed in a tea dyed silk chiffon flapper dress but stops to stare up at the giant bow tie wearing robot. It kind of reminds her of those strange plastic toys in Keroro's shop. What did he call them? Gundam model kits? She says in a Texas accented voice...]

What in tarnation? Did that alien critter rent this thing as part of the decorations?

[Sorry, Bumblebee! Lily doesn't realize you're not one of Keroro's advertising schemes yet!]

[Well he does look like one of those toys, doesn't he? He'll play along with this for a few moments just to draw her in closer. He holds completely still, like a big giant statue in hopes of actually drawing her in. Bumblebee liked to have fun messing with humans sometimes. And this seemed like the perfect opportunity.]

[Lily walks closer, looking up and down as she circles the statue. It's definitely massive and looks heavy.]

How did they get this huge thing into the park? It wasn't here this morning.

[Bumblebee stays still as she circles around him. He waits until she is in front of him before he finally greets her, his radio booming as he does so.]

♫ Hello, Hello ♫

Aah! [Lily jumps back, a bit startled at the radio suddenly coming on.]

This thing has sound too? [She guesses it's supposed to double as way to greet attendees.]

[His radio plays a laugh track at her reaction. Then it plays another sound to answer that question.]

Affirmative, captain.

[And she's back to staring.]

It answered me? [Maybe, it has some kind of voice recognition thing? Not that a technophobe like Lily knows much about how such a thing works.]

[And then he actually moves this time and gives his head a little nod.]
