Tonight, the park is full of life. Lights show the way towards the swimming pool, where you can find large white tents set up, all connected to each other. Music, loud chatter and laugher come from them, and inside you may find Guests and Natives enjoying the night together, a rare sight after recent events happening in the City. But tonight, all of that is to be forgotten. Maybe.

Welcome to the Summer Gala.

Feel free to leave your coat by the Coat room, listening to music (some songs are even played by Guests such as Karina, Shinji, Nanami, Hamel and John), dance together (don’t forget the Partner’s dance!), enjoy good food and good drinks, and perhaps after take a stroll by the swimming pool and the park.

But please, don’t forget to thank your hosts, Keroro’s and Eve’s Metokkori R and Hikan Café, and thank Cupid, Lily’s Yesterday's Magic, Hyoubu’s World’s End, Condesce’s Betty Crocker Bakery and the Watch for all their help. [Yuugi tries to suppress a smile but the corner of his mouth quirks upwards anyway, and once that happens there's really no point in fighting the small laugh that accompanies it.]

Then you're going to have to teach me how to pronounce all that.

[pregames]

[Truth be told, Atem hadn't expected Yuugi playing along with his teasing. That was something that had adverse effects even with the best intentions. So it may not have sounded like much but to Atem it's huge and he latches right onto it.]

Only after you figure out what it means. [Declared with a defiant grin.]

[Yuugi grins as well, growing more confidence as the banter continues. Atem's arm weighs on his shoulders, but not unpleasantly so.]

Write it down for me and I will.

[pregames]

Hmph. Well look at you.

[Unfortunately for Yuugi, his name was a cakewalk compared to the elaborate ancient titles. Those would require a bit more understanding. But Atem rather relished the opportunity to give Yuugi a chance if he was going to be so insistent.]

Have something to write with? Unfortunately that one does not come pre-inscribed on precious metals.

[Figuring not, he turns them down the next path back towards the tents, tugging gently at Yuugi's shoulders.]

[Wait, what, Yuugi only meant to tease but if Atem's going to take him seriously he'll just have to step up to the challenge.

... It's, uh. It's an awfully long name, though.]

Not with me, no. [He follows his partner's lead with no objection, though a part of him is reluctant to head back to the crowd for some reason. The feeling isn't one he can put to words, however, so he doesn't say anything about it.] You're not going to give me a time limit, are you?

[Just going to try to keep up a bit of that silly banter.]

[pregames]

Oh now that you mention it... [He trails off suggestively. It wouldn't be much of a challenge if there weren't stakes after all.

Leading them to the bar, he solicits a pen from the bartender which they keep around to take stock, as well as a napkin. Unfolding it, he takes a minute to scrawl the name in rough cursive, nowhere near as polished as the cartouche on his ring but still elegant in its natural imperfection.]

[Yuugi watches over his shoulder as the name appears, and when Atem is done he reaches down to take hold of it. His thumb trails across the characters, tracing the indents made in the napkin by the cheap pen. They hold him captivated for a second or two before he looks up, grinning again.]

Alright, I can do it! I'll figure out what it means.

[Time limit or no time limit, he'll solve this puzzle too. He doesn't stop there, though, now taking the pen and a napkin of his own. Yuugi's name is much shorter, of course--only four characters in his native writing--but he scribbles it out with some small measure of pride and presents it to the pharaoh.]

Hm? [He stares down at the offered napkin, taking it slowly, confusion inscribed across his face. It looked like absolute nonsense unless..

That's right. He had had seen characters like this before. They littered the walls and signs around Japan only he had been far to focused on their mission, and far too distracted by their failure to register them earlier. So this is how Yuugi writes?]

But I already know your name?

[Yuugi laughs and scratches the back of his head, Atem's confused reaction stirring up a bit of sheepishness. Now that he thinks about it, there's no doubt the meaning of the pharaoh's name(s) must be quite a bit more interesting than the meanings of the characters that make up his own. And yet Yuugi can't help wanting to give the other a riddle for a change.]

There's more to it than a name. You'll figure it out.

Alright. [If Yuugi was giving him a challenge then he was going to take it seriously, every ounce of conviction coloring his words as well as the wry smirk that follows. He waves the napkin suggestively.]

Now we just have to decide on the stakes.
