Tonight, the park is full of life. Lights show the way towards the swimming pool, where you can find large white tents set up, all connected to each other. Music, loud chatter and laugher come from them, and inside you may find Guests and Natives enjoying the night together, a rare sight after recent events happening in the City. But tonight, all of that is to be forgotten. Maybe.

Welcome to the Summer Gala.

Feel free to leave your coat by the Coat room, listening to music (some songs are even played by Guests such as Karina, Shinji, Nanami, Hamel and John), dance together (don’t forget the Partner’s dance!), enjoy good food and good drinks, and perhaps after take a stroll by the swimming pool and the park.

[One or two steps, she would let pass. She couldn't fault him on his nerves getting the best of him tonight. Her own were rather scattered, but she was maintaining her cool. The song and chatter seemed very quiet around them]

You don't need to thank me for this, Kanji. I was... interested in seeing what it would be like. If you hadn't asked first, I would've talked to you about it.

[This was going to be an attempt to change, and so far, she was alright with it.]

[The color at his face was not going anywhere soon. He worried she might be too wrapped up in work to spend an evening like this; knowing the contrary was pretty nice to hear.]

W-well, between all the missions, work n' Watson, I figured I was pretty overdue to just... s-spend some time with ya, y'know?

[She's getting better at recognizing when she needs a break away from it all.]

... Yes. It's... been some time since we've had time like this. [She's not exactly affectionate when they're on missions either.]

[To be fair, they're a little busy hunting and staying alive to really think about... affections.]

I, uh, wouldn't mind hittin' that rooftop again, or doin' some d-date stuff more often. But we're gonna go big after soul 99, before or after we get our witch!

[Very true.]

Hm... I wouldn't object to dates, but let's save the rooftop for whenever we get the Erinyes sorted out.

When I do become a Deathscythe, perhaps we should take another trip. [One more before they seek Adachi and an end to this war...]

You're right about that. [That's right- they only caught two of 'em... there was apparently five from the reports.]

And a trip sounds good t'me.

[The song was wrapping up, and with two steps, three, it was a simple matter to give her a gentle dip.]

Where'd ya feel like goin'? ...S'crazy to think about how we could go anywhere on the planet; sky's the limit. But if there's someplace that you got your eye on...

[She'd like the streets to be safe... safer. It wouldn't stop some idiots from looking for trouble while others attempted to sleep.]

[Naoto follows him in the dip, her hold a little tighter for the moment]

Probably not Japan. We should avoid visiting there for a while really... [As she was pulled back up, she still seemed to be thinking] We haven't really gone somewhere you want to go. [Yes, London was her birthday, but Sapporo was for both of them.]

T'be honest I ain't ever thought about places around the world I'd wanna go. S'always Okina or Inaba for me, and train tickets always cost an arm n' a leg, y'know?

I could think of somethin', but... shouldn't we think of where we'd both wanna go?

[She nods. The prices were a bit outrageous...]

We can... but one of us has to start naming locations.

Uhm... [A pause. What was a place that just screamed 'stop and take a look at me'?]

...What about Venice? That's the city that's on water, right?

Italy? [She hadn't gone there since... that was certainly some time ago. And shortly after Kanji had arrived.]

... Sure, let's go there.

[It had been sometime. He remembered going there with Tifa on his first big mission. Since then the place had no doubt cleaned up and restored itself to its former glory.]

...R-really? Shit, that just popped into my head since I thought of gondolas for some reason, but... I think it'd be fun. 'Specially the gondolas.

[pishirogane]

I'm sure they will be.

[From now until then, they could take the time to prepare and learn some basic Italian to get around. The advantage of their trip to Sapporo was already knowing Japanese.]

[He lifted his head. Grinned.]

A'right. Look intense. Music's winding up and we're gonna dance the hell outta this thing!

[She smiled under her breath. This trip would be exciting.]

So it is. [She seem bewildered at the thought of dancing in another way] You can keep the lead.

[Outside of a few dances, she never got... freestyle? Was that right? It seemed... foolish.]

[Waltz turned into a little bit of freestyle indeed; His arms repositioned and he spun with her in a very salsa-styled move, but the twirl was slower. When he finished, she was supported by the rear as her feet left the ground and didn't seem to be coming down. ...No, he was content to hold her like this. Widening the stance of his feet, he held out an arm and held there as the song entered its last notes.

...Oh. They'd sort of gotten themselves quite an audience.]

[With Kanji at the led, she could follow and do her best to flow. Up, she blushed darkly at the way he held her, her hands pressing against his shoulders. She gazed down at him, leaning him nearly to kiss him... but she unfortunately noticed they were being watched.]

[He won't lie, it's kind of a big thrill: Just being out with her and not because some monster was looking to chew off their faces was something they didn't do often, though he wanted to make a point of changing that. It was enough that, despite being in public, he seemed receptive to her gesture. She was moving in, and in the next moment he was leaning in too.

But then there's that mutual spacial awareness kicking in, and after a glance out into the crowds he cleared his throat quietly, setting her down.]

Uh- h-heh... 'nother dance?

[pishirogane]

[She kept her back towards the audience while her head was low and her face burning as she stared down at his feet.]

Sure... though, perhaps we should allow the crowd to dissipate somewhat. [Or at least turn their attention elsewhere.]

S-sure. Let's go grab a drink and camp out a little bit. They'll get bored and make room sooner or later.

Y-Yes... this way then.

[She grabbed his hand and ducked somewhat, turning to lead him off the dance floor.]
