Tonight, the park is full of life. Lights show the way towards the swimming pool, where you can find large white tents set up, all connected to each other. Music, loud chatter and laugher come from them, and inside you may find Guests and Natives enjoying the night together, a rare sight after recent events happening in the City. But tonight, all of that is to be forgotten. Maybe.

Welcome to the Summer Gala.

Feel free to leave your coat by the Coat room, listening to music (some songs are even played by Guests such as Karina, Shinji, Nanami, Hamel and John), dance together (don’t forget the Partner’s dance!), enjoy good food and good drinks, and perhaps after take a stroll by the swimming pool and the park.

[But his imagination was having so much fun! In fact, he stops dancing for about three seconds before suddenly remembering himself and staring at her as his feet start to shuffle back into movement.]

I am not at all clear on what Sasha has to do with what we were just talking about. That did just come out of nowhere, right?

He's my partner, so he deserves to know more about my life. It's...If I'm completely honest with him like I intend to be, I don't know how he may act towards you after.

[Takuto's shuffling steps falter to a halt. And then he starts to tug her off the dance floor. It seems like they're due for a conversation that he can't handle while dancing.]

So... exactly how honest do you mean? Because if you're planning on sharing things like the things we just discussed.... does he really need to know? [Won't Yako also be getting weird looks???]

Honest like telling him you confessed to somebody else and explaining why I didn't dump you immediately for doing it. He doesn't need to know about what we do together exactly, but some details about the major events seems fair. After all, he's the one who has to deal with my emotions in high-stakes areas.

[tauborn]

[Remembering how his last conversation on this subject went, he just shakes his head in defeat.]

Fine. Well, don't worry about what he thinks of me in that regard, then. I'm sure he already thinks I'm a cheating jerk who doesn't deserve you anyway. But if telling him keeps you safe, then it keeps you safe and I want you to do it.

[He learned the hard way that openness before you go on the mission is the best policy.]

You've skirted very close a few times, but I don't think you've actually cheated, per se. Sasha's pretty straightforward; he usually only gets upset when people deliberately leave out things. If I'm brutally honest, I don't think he'll be too upset...

[Actually, that hurts. That she she sounds a little like she's guessing, or making changes to the definition of cheating for him.] I have not cheated on you! Ever! And I won't, either!

Well, I've done some reading, and apparently there are some people who think that there's such a thing as emotional cheating. I...don't know if that's actually a thing that exists, but if it is...

E-emotional cheating?

[Stop it, Yako, you're actually freaking him out. His hands are holding hers a little tighter than a moment ago.] B-but I don't even know what that is....

Supposedly it's when you form an emotional bond with somebody else that conflicts with the bond your relationship with your significant other is based on. Like I said, I'm not sure whether it's actually something that happens or a hypothetical thing, but...

L-look, I swear I think I'm totally getting over Kaworu. I've been working really hard at it and despite whatever happened at the party I think things are getting better. So please don't say that I've been cheating on you because I feel like I have been doing the best I possibly can.

[And if she says that he's actually been cheating on her the whole time it might kind of destroy him and his resolve. How does a person not emotionally cheat, anyway?]

I don't think you have! I jut said I've been doing some reading. I'm trying to get...well, better at relationship things. I'm new at this, you know? I don't...I don't know how to react, a lot of the time.

[tauborn]

[He takes a deep breath and tries to relax. She's just talking about some hypothetical thing she read in a book.]

For what it's worth, I think you're very good at being in a relationship. [She seems to be better than him, at any rate, which might not be saying much, but at least he's sincere.] And you should... react how you want. I don't think things like reactions or feelings should be overthought.

[itaidakimasu]

Yeah, I guess you're right.

{She squeezes his hand in hers.}

But you're still my first boyfriend, and I don't want to mess up.

[tauborn]

[There's more than a little guilt in his voice.]

I don't think you're the one that has to worry about messing things up.

[He gives her hand a little squeeze in return, hoping the gesture will cheer him up a little bit. He hasn't lost her yet, after all, so that's something to be happy about. Besides, there's the party, and the dress, and the dessert....]

You, Yako Katsuragi, are a great girlfriend, so don't ever thing you're not.

Thanks. I try pretty hard, actually, so that means a lot.

{She smiles up at him, sweet and warm. He's still so fragile in some ways, and the last thing she wants to do is make that worse.}
