Tonight, the park is full of life. Lights show the way towards the swimming pool, where you can find large white tents set up, all connected to each other. Music, loud chatter and laugher come from them, and inside you may find Guests and Natives enjoying the night together, a rare sight after recent events happening in the City. But tonight, all of that is to be forgotten. Maybe.

Welcome to the Summer Gala.

Feel free to leave your coat by the Coat room, listening to music (some songs are even played by Guests such as Karina, Shinji, Nanami, Hamel and John), dance together (don’t forget the Partner’s dance!), enjoy good food and good drinks, and perhaps after take a stroll by the swimming pool and the park.

But please, don’t forget to thank your hosts, Keroro’s and Eve’s Metokkori R and Hikan Café, and thank Cupid, Lily’s Yesterday's Magic, Hyoubu’s World’s End, Condesce’s Betty Crocker Bakery and the Watch for all their help. [ Wallflower, perhaps, but for how long with so many wandering around? Or with a friendly face coming to greet her. While literally his words meant one thing, there was a subtle implication behind them that she caught. How to respond, though, how to respond.. ]

It would be strange of me to dance alone, would it not?

No, not at all. It is simply that I would not restrict another to exclusively my presence for the entire event.

...Gotcha.

[He sheepishly scratched the back of his head.]

You, uh... you up for a dance or two? My legs ain't givin' out yet!

[ So bashful. But she holds out a hand with a smile, offering it. She wasn't going to pry as to where his date was. ]

I have no reason not to be, and a dance would be most welcome, I admit.

[ To the dance floor? She wondered if he would take the lead, or leave it to her. ]

[Couldn't hog his girlfriend all night when she had a bunch of friends here, could he? He reached out and took Kanaya's hand, and with a few steps back made way for the dance floor before turning to continue the march.]

I start stompin' on yer feet, you're gonna tell me, right?

[ She feels much the same, which is why she'd drifted from her date. Dancing with a friend was always welcome and worth it, and now here they were. ]

I suspect that you will dance as well as you've dressed. [ A grin. ] My feet are in no danger.

[ In other words: Kanji is well dressed and even if his feet do near hers, she'll dodge. Nothing bad is going to happen. ]

A little faith! I like that.

[Really, votes of confidence? Big plus. You get a little tired of being the butt of jokes after a while. But once on the floor he instinctively moved his arms and... stopped. Hesitated.]

Uhm- sorry-

[Come on, it was just a dance. His hands settled and his eyes averted. He'd done well at this before, but he wondered if he was somehow being forward just by assuming the stance and hand positions.]

[ The moment he hesitates, she confidently, gently, moves her hands to his to reassure and ensure his hands are in exactly the correct places. Not that she didn't trust that he'd done so, but to reassure him that it was alright. Then, of course, she settled her hands on him and- well, she had already placed her feet right where they needed to be. ]

Do not worry.

[ Her words are kind and polite, wanting him to relax. She was in his hands now, and leading the dance was up to him. Unless he hesitated at all, then she'd help him along, but she would rather he feel confident from the start. ]

[And this was why Kanaya was just plain cool. With a nod of appreciation, he kept an ear out for the music and found his rhythm. With a bold step outward, he guided them into that crowd on the floor and let himself sink a little bit into the routine. It wasn't his first time dancing like this tonight, and muscle memory was a strong thing indeed.]

...You guys ever do stuff like this?

[He asked quietly. He didn't ask too often about troll stuff, but that might be because he hears plenty from Miss Aranea Serket.]

[ If he offered the compliment, she would be quite flattered to be considered 'cool'. Considering her understanding of 'cool' from Dave, it was something she wouldn't mind being. Admittedly, she was caught up in being impressed with Kanji's skill at dancing. It was a little baffling to her, because he'd had no reason at all to be nervous with how he danced. It was easy to move along with him, and she couldn't stop the smile that remained on her features. ]

We did, though not as often as I would have liked.

[ Aranea was one who was willing to talk off any ear that would listen, and it made sense for anyone to know just about anything with her around. She'd yet to get an opportunity to sit and talk for hours though- though dancing for hours? That was something she was enjoying, right here, right now. ]
