Tonight, the park is full of life. Lights show the way towards the swimming pool, where you can find large white tents set up, all connected to each other. Music, loud chatter and laugher come from them, and inside you may find Guests and Natives enjoying the night together, a rare sight after recent events happening in the City. But tonight, all of that is to be forgotten. Maybe.

Welcome to the Summer Gala.

Feel free to leave your coat by the Coat room, listening to music (some songs are even played by Guests such as Karina, Shinji, Nanami, Hamel and John), dance together (don’t forget the Partner’s dance!), enjoy good food and good drinks, and perhaps after take a stroll by the swimming pool and the park.

But please, don’t forget to thank your hosts, Keroro’s and Eve’s Metokkori R and Hikan Café, and thank Cupid, Lily’s Yesterday's Magic, Hyoubu’s World’s End, Condesce’s Betty Crocker Bakery and the Watch for all their help. Sugata wasn't really sure what his deal was and why he was being extra cautious with everything. It's not like he broke his foot, or his leg, or anything. And it's not like his arm can break anymore, because it can't now that it's in a cast. But it still doesn't stop him from walking awkwardly. This has never happened to him before, so it's difficult getting used to it. He should have also made a sign that said he was sorry for bumping into everybody so awkwardly.

So when he accidentally bumped into Shinji he gears up for another apology. "I'm sorry."

It was just Shinji's unfortunate luck, really, that the way Sugata had bumped into him - the angle, speed, and fact that Shinji himself was about to move himself - was enough to throw him off balance enough that he had to stumble a little bit to keep himself from falling flat on his face. Which wouldn't necessarily have been much of a problem, had it not been for the fact that he had been standing awfully close to the pool.

So, with a small, surprised yelp, then a noise of dread at the incoming water, and all the grace one would expect of a socially awkward teenager, Shinji stumbles straight into the pool.

Takuto had followed Sugata outside just to make sure his friend wasn't about to go brood alone over his broken arm or something--despite all their talks, Takuto still feels dreadfully responsible.

And then there's the splash. And the immediate floundering makes it pretty clear that Shinji can't swim. Or, if Takuto gives him the benefit of the doubt, he can't swim in a tux.

About two seconds later, Takuto tosses his jacket to Sugata, drops to the ground to lie flat on the edge of the pool, and reaches out to grab Shinji's flailing arms.

"Shinji! Calm down!"

He was so not going to brood about his arm! He wouldn't do that near the pool anyway, he'd definitely do it in a quieter area, like the park. Sugata was just about to jump in after Shinji as he had tossed his jacket off to the side, but he stops when Takuto rounds the corner and throws his jacket at him. He catches it with ease and then lightly sets it over to the side. He gets on his knees when Takuto pulls Shinji out of the water.

It isn't even so much floundering as it is struggling to keep his head above the surface of the water. He doesn't seem to have any natural buoyancy even in appropriate swimwear, so the fact that he's dressed for the event is certainly not helping. Neither is the fact that he's panicking pretty hard, but, hey.

As soon as he sees that there's an arm reaching out to help pull him back out of the water, he quickly grabs hold. That alone was enough to alleviate a lot of the panic, though it wasn't until he found himself back on solid ground, shaking and soaking wet and unable to stop coughing, that he actually could bring himself to start calming down.

Takuto's arms are wet up to his shoulders, but it's nothing the air dryers in the men's room can't fix. And it's much better than letting Shinji drown, obviously. He pats Shinji's back and waits for the boy to stop choking up water--Takuto's been there, he understands--and glances over to Sugata for a small shrug. He knows Sugata hadn't been so clumsy on purpose.

"You okay, Shinji? I can go look for a towel for you to dry off...." This is a pool, after all, so there should be something.

He places a hand on Shinji's back and pats it gently. "No let me go get it. I was the one who accidentally bumped into you in the first place. It's the least I can do." He interjects. Of course it wasn't on purpose, but it still happened.

It takes a few moments for his senses to stop... well, swimming, as it were. He's aware that the two of them seemed to be trying to comfort him, but he doesn't quite pick up on what they're saying right away. He wants to tell them that he's fine. Well, not injured in any way that he can tell, at least. That's unfortunately pretty difficult to do when he can't stop coughing up water. You don't get drowned nearly daily in breathable liquid for over half a year without skewing your body's natural reaction against breathing in liquid, though the thought doesn't make him feel any less stupid for doing it.

"... -fine, I'm... I'm fine," he manages to finally squeak out between gasping breaths and coughs.

Takuto continues patting Shinji's back in a comforting way and then stands. "I'll be right back." And before Sugata can protest, he shoots a pointed look at his friend's cast. "I can carry more towels. Just don't let him fall back in."

And without further ado, he jogs off in search of some towels.

"Last I checked towels weren't made out of bricks." But he's sure that comment falls on deaf ears. He sighs and then turns his attention to the other teen in front of him.

"Let me know if this hurts." Thankfully he has an idea with what he's doing! Loads of people almost fall victim to drowning back home. Especially those who aren't native to the island. And so with that he starts to (gently) hit his palm over a certain spot on Shinji's back. He's hoping it either alleviates some of the pain or causes the other to cough up more water.

He's more than willing to give Sugata the benefit of the doubt that he knows what he's doing, so there's no protest from Shinji, not that he'd be able to voice one very well in his current state.

He finally felt his breathing calm down a little bit once his lungs were clear, or at least mostly clear, of water, and he draws a few long, shaky breaths to try and steady his nerves a little bit. It... doesn't really help a whole lot, but he does manage to utter a small, "Th-.... thanks."

Takuto returns a moment later with three fluffy towels.

"Well, at least you didn't have to suffer CPR from either of us," Takuto chirps, trying to lighten the mood. Not that most people would consider mouth-to-mouth from either Sugata or Takuto a bad thing, but a little bit of self-depreciating humor can't hurt. He crouches down, spreading one towel across Shinji's shoulders and then holding out another to him. "Here. You'll feel better once you dry off a little."

Sugata can't help but roll his eyes a little at the remark. As soon as he was finished with patting the other teen's back, he stops.

"Of course. I'm sorry for bumping you into the pool."

Takuto's light-hearted remark didn't make much of an effect on Shinji, either, though he accepts the towel offered to him. He takes a moment to dry off his face and run the towel over his hair a tiny bit before responding to Sugata.

"It's alright..." He means it in an, 'I'm fine' sort of way, but it sort of comes out more like he was okay with nearly sinking in the pool. Good job Shinji. "It's not like you did it on purpose."

Takuto snorts a little. "I should hope not." Under different circumstances, he might have joked about how he's not a meister either of them should fight over, but his recent mission with Sugata is still a little bit too fresh in his mind.

"Do you need anything else, Shinji?" Because he might go to the restroom and use the hand driers to dry off his sleeves if you just need a moment.
