[ OPEN ] August 2012 Introduction Log
Characters: OPEN to new arrivals and NPCS.
Where: En route to Casualty Communal
Rating: Gen
Time: March 12 onwards
Description: Welcome to Death City!
It had been a little over a week since the sandstorm, and thus a little over a week since the last batch of newcomers. When the readings indicated that BREW was activating again so quickly, it was a bit of a scramble to get everything prepared. The last time it activated before then was early February, so this really was a small time frame. It had been some time since that happened.
But everyone dutifully prepared just in time for the first arrivals. It was also a relatively good day despite the past few rain showers. At least things were much calmer now.
[ooc: Player characters will also be joining the log. Everything after the sub thread Soul Perception is open to all characters.
Quick navigation: Kishin Chamber | Around/Outside Shibusen | Around Death City | Casualty Communal | Soul Perception | Open Thread]

SOUL PERCEPTION
Just kidding.
Well it wasn't like the room wasn't neat and orderly. It was just . . . well, different. Pictures of Excalibur were lined up in very neat, perfect rows on either side of the room, volunteers standing at their side possibly wearing this expression. They were all standing next to white top hats for some strange reason? But instead of the usual greeting from Death the Kid, there was a wonderful golden toilet in the center, almost as as if it was waiting for the guests to arrive.
Oh and there's a sword that's sticking out of that bowl. Perhaps you should try to take that out?

Who the fuck would stick a sword in a load gaper? The sheer stupidity and ridiculousness of it is enough to ebb the paranoia he had been holding onto tightly since he woke up in this place. Imagined(?) flashes of jade green on the edges of his vision are forgotten as he finally worms himself out of the middle of the crowd where he had been hiding to approach the thing.
Of course he's not going to try to grab it, it basically seemed to scream lame stupid joke, but that doesn't stop him from looking mildly confused and glaring at it like it's mere existence is a personal insult to him.
But curiosity does get the best out of him and while not wanting to get his hands dirty by touching it full on, he at least reaches out to flick it with a claw. Because seriously. What the fuck?]

I'd advise against bothering him unless you're prepared to have your ears talked off.

Each second that passes by, Matt has the feeling this is all pain induced insanity or some kind of Limbo or maybe he is dreaming, even though this dream has been going on for a while now.
Yeah, okay, let's just go along with it.]
Okay. So, this is the cult room?

You again? Nice timing, dumbass, I think everyone was just about getting over their grief-stained feelings jam!

[ yeap. that is Sora's big concern when entering the room and in line, waiting. he just can't figure it out. all of the photos on the wall aren't too crazy, but gosh. people sure don't seem happy! ]

This setup - well, it didn't shake him at all. It was eccentric, but very possibly harmlessly so. But it did not conduct any sort of sense that he was getting closer to something. He hadn't raised any personal expectations on how simple the Meister-Weapon determination process would be. From what he'd gathered, it did entail reading souls, after all. But if any of this was relevant to the process, if pressed to fill in blanks on his own, he would expect it was the beginning of some kind of ritual.
A ritual with a toilet and a sword, apparently, assuming it was indeed a toilet.
His attention found itself narrowing to the toilet. The curious centerpiece to the quirky room. If he needed to guess what he was expected to do, it would involve touching the sword. But much better, more logical and more proper, to await directions.

Re: SOUL PERCEPTION
Forgive her, she has to stop and stare at this atrocious display of interior design. The skulls she could deal with. The people were...alright. But this...!! Ew. ]
I believe you misplaced your sword. It is sitting in the load gaper.
[ Those are the nicest words you will get out of her about this room. ]

"No. Just no."
Turning on her heel, the girl started to briskly stride out of the room. She didn't care that this was where she was supposed to get evaluated by this absurd place's standard so she could figure out the best way to get home. What kind of place that expected to have any kind of reputation other than pathetic had a golden toilet with a sword in it?
...someone better stop her before she goes back to the Kishin Chamber to yell at Death the Kid.

And, frankly, he should have known better.
"I'm... not certain I understand."
Or, more accurately, he was hoping he was wrong. Ramza had already been briefed on the dichotomy of weapons and meisters, and here before him was a weapon quite clearly caught in a rather... human position. He could put two and two together, but he prayed he was wrong in his sum.
"This isn't an... inopportune time, is it?"

Why.
"WHY ARE YOU HERE!?" Kid shouted as he pointed at the thing that just made everything inside him want to cry in disgust.
He couldn't believe it. Even when he had received several reports he still couldn't.
Just. Why. Had he known he would have just done this himself and—what did he do to this room?!?!

I assume there's an explanation for this sword being in such a strange mount.

Surely, that golden thing was a throne. Why a throne would be a bowl of water was anyone's guess, but for the first time in quite a while, he couldn't quite make sense of it all. This disturbed him far more than he revealed, his expression carefully neutral as he broke away from the group to do a little examination on his own.
The others could prattle all they wished until their bottom jaws fell out.

Data is what he needs, and cannot reach out to find it anymore; must process with thinkpan that feels sluggish, and still aches. Rosa made him more visually presentable, though was little to be done for clotted and dried yellow on flight suit. One thing he knows is that those brought here gain abilities to replace ones lost. Learning about that is a priority.

Finally. Something that made a little sense. Dirk immediately recognized the ironic artistic expression for what it was, and he regarded the hell out of it. The pictures of the weird bird thing (or...whatever that is) were a little blatant for his taste, but, he got it, just the same. Really, he was pretty sure this belonged in a museum somewhere.
He wasted no time, once the first opportunity arose. The only thing to do with something like this was take it to its logical conclusion. He rubbed his hands together a few times. Then, without even a whit of hesitation, Dirk grabbed the hilt of the sword and pulled with all his might.

Her anticipation walking into the soul perception room was only met with the sheer absurdity of the room.
It was obviously a shrine-like edifice... but what was the reason for the toilet in the middle of the room?]
