[ OPEN ] August 2012 Introduction Log
Characters: OPEN to new arrivals and NPCS.
Where: En route to Casualty Communal
Rating: Gen
Time: March 12 onwards
Description: Welcome to Death City!
It had been a little over a week since the sandstorm, and thus a little over a week since the last batch of newcomers. When the readings indicated that BREW was activating again so quickly, it was a bit of a scramble to get everything prepared. The last time it activated before then was early February, so this really was a small time frame. It had been some time since that happened.
But everyone dutifully prepared just in time for the first arrivals. It was also a relatively good day despite the past few rain showers. At least things were much calmer now.
[ooc: Player characters will also be joining the log. Everything after the sub thread Soul Perception is open to all characters.
Quick navigation: Kishin Chamber | Around/Outside Shibusen | Around Death City | Casualty Communal | Soul Perception | Open Thread]

AROUND/OUTSIDE SHIBUSEN
Nevertheless, Hiro greets the newcomers with a friendly smile and a wave. He might look a bit....flashy to the newcomers, definitely not what you would be expecting after meeting the others. With his multiple earrings, soft blonde hair, sparkling sky blue eyes, almost completely exposed chest and pink plaid pants, he looks like he belonged in a J-Pop band or something.
Your first thought is probably 'this kid must be one of the most popular students here', isn't it? Well... he sure acts like he is.
"My name is Hiro, a Meister here at Shibusen. I'm the one who's going to be introducing you all to our lovely school and I'll try to cover as much information as I can. However my schedule is kind of tight so this tour is going to be short. It's a pleasure to meet you, and welcome to Death City, by the way."
He turns around then, and points to the large building. "This is Shibusen, our school. There's a lot of things for you to learn there, so I would advise going to the classes. I'm not going to take you inside though, I can trust that you'll be able to find your way around. Just don't go into the dungeon, okay?"
He turns back around and faces the group, his arms crossed.
"Now, there's morning training that you all can join in on. You can practice wielding a weapon or working on your abilities or learning how to change into your form. And if you think you're good enough, you can even challenge other Meisters to duels. Fight fairly and nicely though, we don't want any bad accidents to happen."
Hiro starts walking, motioning for the group to follow. He stops a few feet from the large staircase and smiles, giving the group a moment to take in the beautiful scenery of the city. It really was quite a sight from up here.
"All of those buildings down there is our city, it's one of the safest places to go to. There's a surveillance system too, run by the Kuzonoha Agency."
Placing a hand to his chin, he thinks about what else he should cover.
"Ah, right! You might have met him earlier in the Kishin Chamber, Death the Kid. He's the reigning Shinigami and he runs this entire city. He might seem a bit young and inexperienced, but he really does a great job. In fact, we're protected by a barrier made by him right now, though it only keeps the madness wavelength out. But that right there is a huge help."
And then he frowns just slightly. "I know you must be thinking that it's his fault you're here but it really isn't. He doesn't have any hand in the people who arrive here, so don't even think about taking any frustrations out on him. He's trying his hardest to keep everyone safe and happy, and his job is the most stressful one anyone could have. So before you decide to get pissed at him, try to think of what it would like to be in his shoes."
His smile is back and he points down the stairs. "Alright, go down those stairs and there should be someone waiting to show you around our city. It was great meeting you all!"
And he hurries down the stairs himself, running as fast as his legs could take him while making sure not to trip (wouldn't that be professional).

Eridan actually let's his guard down a bit to look over the place, still carefully on the look out and a bit too tense, but not nearly as bad as he had been before. He even lets himself loiter a bit, not right out ready to follow the entire group down the stairs. He's got a thing for being up higher than others, and this place might just be a good place to hide out if he can manage to climb on the building sometime without too much notice.]

of course he isn't going to go without noticing the small troll hanging back. fins would mean that this young one is a sea dweller, not that the adult really believes it to mean much at this point. still, there's little harm in slowly approaching. the group is moving on and the boy seems so tense.
at this point, his hood is still drawn and even the Signless is still careful. who knows if this one knows Karkat and his friends, after all. besides, he knows now how the typical reactions go for some young one meeting an adult. ]
I think you best keep with the group for the duration of the tour, lest you be lost.

Wwho giwes a fuck? They'we already gone ower the basics so I don't see any fuckin' reason to-SHIT!
[The glare that had been intended for whatever asshole felt the need to boss him around immediately melts into a look of mild horror and panic, it's only by just barely catching himself that he doesn't trip over his own feet and fall right down that flight of stairs he's dangerously close to. If he had been any slower at catching his balance, it probably would have hurt like a bitch and quite possibly broke his glasses.
Of course. Of fucking course the universe is still punishing him for something so insignificant and stupid that a fucking adult troll has to find him. It's only the fact that there's something weirdly safe about this stranger that he doesn't say fuck it and just let himself fall down the stairs to escape, but his body is still strung like a bow ready to bolt at any second. For now at least, he stands his ground and tries to regain at least a fraction of his composure.
He doesn't do a very good job though and anything he wants to say is automatically lost in his mind as he tries to figure out the likely hood of doctors here knowing how to treat a troll with a heart attack.]

Calm down, young one. I'm not here to harm you. Quite the contrary, really.
[ he is really wanting to be more helpful than harmful after all. ]

Eridan relaxes, just a fraction, and gives that arm a side glance before turning his confused glare up to this odd adult. Even by troll standards.]
...So, wwho the fuck are you? An' wwhat's fuckin' wwrong wwith you?
no subject
By Alternian standards, there are a multitude of things. It would take days to explain them all properly.
[ the Signless pulls back his arm, assured that the other will not just take flight. ]
As for who I am, I was called the Signless back in my time.
no subject
...Think I'we heard a you. Not much, most a the shit I found wwas off a the records. Just somethin' about the execution dealin' wwith a-
[Mutant blood. The realization of something is clear on his face, and he's not quite sure how to feel about that. It's all parts wrong and fucked up and dear fucking god what would Dualscar think of him mingling with the descendant of the first rebellion-
...
Suddenly history and present decide to smack together and connect the dots in his thinkpan and he really wishes at this moment that he wasn't a history buff. He really doesn't know how to feel about this and just barely stops his fidgeting from being noticeable.]

If the account is off of the records, then you were poking into something quite dangerous, weren't you? I doubt that there wouldn't be too many of her followers that would be pleased to know some knowledge of my existence still exists somewhere.
[ the Signless chuckles a little at that, covering his somewhat bitter tone when bringing in the Empress. there is not a single troll he truly hates, but he is genuinely starting to grow a budding resentment to the sea witch. ]
You should be a little bit more careful in the future, when you return to your correct point in time.

I do not believe we have met. But yes, I was observing what seems to be my new home.
;D
Not in person, no. The last time you were here, we only spoke through the mirrors. I am called the Signless.

When she hears his name she's a little distracted -- really? Like the tale told to grubs...well, to her at least. And only once or twice that she can remember. ]
I would tell you my name but I think you already know it, so I'll have to settle for saying that I think I have heard your name before. But I'm uncertain why.
no subject
[ he shakes his head and waves it off. ]
If you have any questions, though, I would be happy to answer what I know. Should you find yourself in need of assistance or even an ear, I will be there if desired.
no subject
[ An ear...that's new. She gives a small smile. ] Usually I am the one offering ears.

Isn't that a bit too early?
no subject
Coming from someone who is naturally nocturnal? I'd say it's quite late.

[Not since his military days.]

[He filed that bit of information away. It said a lot about what kind of, ah, "army" this was that they didn't force the people here to attend morning training.]
How convenient.
