[ OPEN ] August 2012 Introduction Log
Characters: OPEN to new arrivals and NPCS.
Where: En route to Casualty Communal
Rating: Gen
Time: March 12 onwards
Description: Welcome to Death City!
It had been a little over a week since the sandstorm, and thus a little over a week since the last batch of newcomers. When the readings indicated that BREW was activating again so quickly, it was a bit of a scramble to get everything prepared. The last time it activated before then was early February, so this really was a small time frame. It had been some time since that happened.
But everyone dutifully prepared just in time for the first arrivals. It was also a relatively good day despite the past few rain showers. At least things were much calmer now.
[ooc: Player characters will also be joining the log. Everything after the sub thread Soul Perception is open to all characters.
Quick navigation: Kishin Chamber | Around/Outside Shibusen | Around Death City | Casualty Communal | Soul Perception | Open Thread]

CASUALTY COMMUNAL
He then starts to lead the group through the residential quarter, making sure to point out things as they go.
"The place we're walking by right now is the Casualty Communal, and the ones over there are called the Creeping Crypts. These are the places you'll be living for your duration here in Death City. Don't worry, you don't have to pay rent or anything. It's completely paid for by Shibusen."
He stops and jerks his thumb towards some buildings in the distance.
"You see those buildings over there? That's called Death City Heights, where you move to once you've been lucky enough to find a partner. It's also free, and the rooms are bigger as well since you'll be living with another person. You don't have to move there if you don't want to though. But it's recommended you do, since living with your partner helps strengthen your bond."
There's a pause and he looks to the sky for a second, looking a bit lost in thought. But once he remembers there were people still there, he laughs a bit nervously and rubs the back of his head.
"It's also a good idea to move when you can because there are always more people coming in, so it would be good to move out and leave more rooms open."
Whistling as he walks, it's time to take them to the SEES reception area where a large table was set up. On the table were baskets containing basic supplies like food or bathroom supplies. They each had a card in them too, welcoming them to their new home; Death City. Manning the table were the SEES members, each person marked with a bright red armband with 'SEES' emblazoned on them.
He turns around to leave, waving a hand out behind them but stops mid step.
"Oh, and before I forget! If you ever get sick or injured, don't worry because we have a clinic here. The doctors are well trained, as well. And if you need to buy anything, we have a shopping district over that way." He points in the direction of the shopping area.
"Shibusen pays for a lot of the basic things you'll need, but if there's something you want that isn't covered, you'll need to get a job and earn your own money. And even if you don't think you'll need to buy anything extra, it would be a good idea to get a job anyway. It's nice to have some pocket money for nice clothes or things like that."
Clapping his hands twice, he offers the group one last smile coupled with a charming wink.
"That's it for my little tour! If you have any further questions, don't be afraid to ask myself or any of the other people here. I hope you enjoy your stay in Death City!"
Bowing like he just finished a play, Hiro turns on his heels and goes to stand by the table, a hand to his chin and a proud smile on his face. Yes, he thinks he pulls off tour guide much better then errand boy.
SEES Table. Get your gift baskets here!
It seemed the armband-adorned individuals at the table were still hard at work making baskets right there at the station to try and make up for your quick arrival. Don't worry; everyone who walks up will get one! Feel free to say hello or ask whatever you like... or even ask where you can get a cool armband of your own.
[ooc: Come one, come all! You'll either be spoken to by Kanji or Chika!]

"And here I was wondering if there was anything of color in this absurd place..."
no subject
Gray eyes looked up at the comment, and he nodded. "Right. S'what I was thinkin' when I said the baskets need ribbons."
Kanji shifted forward in his chair, stacking the spools of ribbon, one atop the other.
"Pissed off by the noise comin' from inside yet? Bastard's a real windbag..."
no subject
"'I'm 'pissed off' at everything," she stated. "Who wouldn't be?"
no subject
"I was you two months ago; mindin' my own damn business before BREW decided I was fit for cavin' witch n' demon skulls in. Tch..."
But save for wrinkling his nose, Kanji didn't think further of his situation. He was stuck here, simple as that, and this girl was too.
"But y'get used to it, I guess. What color y'want?" He nodded to the baskets.

Akiha wanted to hear more about that given she was half-demon. She didn't care for that aspect of her heritage, but it would help her know exactly how much more she needed to not let that be known than usual.
"And I'll take the red one."
no subject
"Both are. Y'got witches, who go around actin' like assholes, but then there's the kishin eggs; humans who turned into monsters after eating the soul of another person. Reason why they're called 'eggs' is if they eat enough of 'em, they turn full-on Kishin... demon gods."
He took the red-ribboned basket and passed it to Akiha's side of the table.
"So y'go on missions to take out kishin eggs. The Weapon eats their soul, gets a little stronger, then down the line they turn into Weapons the current Shinigami-sama can use."
no subject
"Thank you," she said, accepting the basket and looking its contents over. "It sounds as if those kishin eggs aren't directly related to the war. Do you know why missions are focused on them instead of witches?"
no subject
"I'm sick as shit of runnin' from 'em... but y'need a strong Weapon. Kishin egg souls make weapons stronger. 99'a those n' 1 witch soul turns a Weapon into a Deathscythe, more than enough to deal with 'em. My partner n' I got a hell of a lotta work to do..." He ran a hand over his face, careful to avoid the piercing on his nose.

His internal motors whirred and clicked quietly as he approached the table. Zero looked over the basket. He could probably process the food as efficiently as his systems would allow.

She shoved a few more things into the gift basket, before handing it over to the new arrival. "Sorry we're not as prepared as usual, but well, you guys kinda showed up a little early, so we didn't have enough of these made for everyone in time."
no subject
Zero looked over his basket. He hadn't been expecting any kind of direction upon arriving in the city. Just another pleasant surprise as he found himself alive and functioning.
no subject
"Anyway, my name is Chika. What's yours?"
no subject
"Zero. Does the program recruit just anyone or does it stick mostly to humans?"

Well this'll make Junpei do a double take.
[Man, how fail was that for him? Losing track of Fuuka during the tour... He was hoping she had moved on ahead to meet them at some point, but no such luck.]
[He was about to turn around and head into the city to look for her, screw the whole tour thing or whatever... but something caught his eye before he got very far. The gift baskets were bright enough, for sure, but it was the armband he saw the people at the table wearing that really caught his attention.]
What the...SEES?!
[If that's what he thought it was... but then, why wasn't one of his team mates at the table? Why were they sitting there announcing what they were? He approached the table carefully, clearing his throat.]
Uh, hey! So... this is for SEES, right?
[Ugh, he felt like an idiot... but how else was he supposed to ask?]
sup homie.
Yup. What color ribbon y'want on your basket?
Come on can you blame him for looking a bit freaked out
[He glanced around, before leaning in just a tad, his voice lowering.]
Is this, like... Iwatodai SEES? With the Shadows and... you know?
[He leaned back again, rubbing the back of his head.]
Just, I don't remember us letting college kids in, is all~
[Seriously, this guy looked like he was in his twenties at least...]
Not in the least.
Sorta-- wait, y'know about Shadows?!
[His eyes hardened. Ohhh, he'll let that college bit go. Kanji didn't even know what the hell the dude was talking about anyway. He didn't look THAT old.]
Awesome cause he's totally freaked out.
[He paused for a moment, remembering the conversation between him and Fuuka. Let's go the subtle approach, then... if he can.]
Ever since ya got here, someone's been missin' inside of you, right? Someone who used to help ya fight shit like these Kishin Eggs or whatever back home.
[His expression got a bit flat.]
Which is why it's messed up that BREW or whatever would suppress them. Uh--
[Junpei then became a bit sheepish, rubbing the back of his neck.]
Yo, wait, sorry... I didn't introduce myself. I'm Junpei Iori, I was... am, a member of SEES back home. I'm from Tatsumi Port, go to Gekkoukan High School... any of those things ring a bell?
[Please let someone else be from his world...]
no subject
Yeah... so I'm guessin' you got a Persona, but BREW locked it down, huh?
[He must be from that other group Minako-san talked about, the one with Minato and Fuuka.]
[But that hardened look faded when he started slapping down familiar terms.]
Only been to Tatsumi Port once to visit that Gekkoukan school for a class trip. Shit, if you were a member'a the real SEES, why don'tcha sign up for this one?
[He started decorating the handle of the basket with the ribbon. Gotta finish it.]
I knew Arisato-san should'a taken up runnin' the table this time around. You're one'a his teammates, right?
no subject
[He glanced at his bandaged palm, shaking his head.]
I can't feel Trismegistus at all. Same for you, right?
[Junpei watched as Kanji put together the ribbon for the basket as he spoke. Huh, the guy seemed pretty nimble when it came to his hands.]
Like you gotta ask twice dude! Though uh, if we're not fighting shadows what are we--
[But that last question... that name]
D-did... uh, did you just say... A-arisato? Like... Minato, Arisato.
[The expression on Junpei's face would be hard to read, but it certainly had a mix pain and shock on it. H-how... how is that possible?!]
