It had been a little over a week since the sandstorm, and thus a little over a week since the last batch of newcomers. When the readings indicated that BREW was activating again so quickly, it was a bit of a scramble to get everything prepared. The last time it activated before then was early February, so this really was a small time frame. It had been some time since that happened.

But everyone dutifully prepared just in time for the first arrivals. It was also a relatively good day despite the past few rain showers. At least things were much calmer now.

Lavi raised his head at the shout, looking from Kid to...the thing.

"Wait, so he's not supposed to be here?"

Lavi had privately thought that this was Shibusen's way of pranking all the newcomers. By forcing them to endure Excalbiur's company. Actually, that would be more like torture, wouldn't it? Maybe Excalibur would be thrown out, Lavi hoped.

If only that sword could be thrown out, but he somehow managed to find a way in.

"No, of course not!" No matter how short staffed or ill prepared they were, he would never willingly allow Excalibur to do this.

"Good, because I was going to quit if he turned out to be permanent." Or run out screaming.

He still didn't want to acknowledge that, whatever that thing is, was Excalibur. Way to ruin all of Lavi's expectations.

He just groaned.

"I can't believe this—how long has he been here!?"

"Since the tour started. A couple of hours, give or take."

Lavi paused as he looked back at Excalibur. "I'm kinda curious. Does he help fight in the war at all?"

[perfectorder]

That only earned another groan. To think that stupid, annoying sword had been here—

"He has the potential to," Kid said between clenched teeth as he pinched the bridge of his nose, trying desperately to retain some sense of composure, "but whether he does or not is up to him."

He knew Excalibur was a powerful weapon and that his father had some sort of friendship between the sword, but that was still hard to remember whenever it did something like this.

To be honest, Lavi doubted Excalibur's potential. It didn't look like he was very strong, despite his extraordinary ability to frustrate everyone around him.

"Too bad. He could annoy the Witches to death."

[perfectorder]

"It's been a thought."

Sadly, it was a very true thought.

"But though he may act as he does...Excalibur is the first demon weapon and all of weapons you see now are based off his genetic material."

Lavi stared. He wasn't sure if he heard Kid right.

"Wait so... We all have a little bit of Excalibur inside of us?" Oh gross, why did he have to phrase it that way. "The first human Weapon transformation wasn't natural?"

[perfectorder]

...Ah.

"My apologies, let me rephrase. I did not mean that literally. It was more like the basis of the formula was based off him. No one is directly related to Excalibur."

Thank you Kid, for clearing that up for him. That last bit is certainly easier to swallow.

"Why go through all that effort? Was there a need for more Weapons than just Excalibur?"

kid is such a troll. i mean--

"No, that wasn't it. In fact it was the witch Arachne that created the first Weapon."

And the not most...lovely history to say the least.

"However, despite the fact that they originally created by a witch, most weapons are on our side."
