[ OPEN ] August 2012 Introduction Log
Characters: OPEN to new arrivals and NPCS.
Where: En route to Casualty Communal
Rating: Gen
Time: March 12 onwards
Description: Welcome to Death City!
It had been a little over a week since the sandstorm, and thus a little over a week since the last batch of newcomers. When the readings indicated that BREW was activating again so quickly, it was a bit of a scramble to get everything prepared. The last time it activated before then was early February, so this really was a small time frame. It had been some time since that happened.
But everyone dutifully prepared just in time for the first arrivals. It was also a relatively good day despite the past few rain showers. At least things were much calmer now.
[ooc: Player characters will also be joining the log. Everything after the sub thread Soul Perception is open to all characters.

AROUND DEATH CITY
“I’m Blair!” The cat cheerfully spoke and waved a paw hello. "I'm Death City's one and only magical cat!" "Listen up, okay! I got a hot bath waiting for me! That’away is the mall. . ." Blair pointed to one direction and then another. “. . . over there is the school and other boring stuff.” The talking cat jumped off the stone wall. A sudden swirl of purple smoke surrounded her. When it cleared, the cat was gone and in its place stood a beautiful woman. She winked at the crowd. "Any questions?”
Okay, so it wasn’t the best way to greet the guest. The only reason she had agreed to this task was to scope out any good looking boys. Other than that, it was a chore. Bright yellow eyes scanned over the newcomers, looking for any new potential “prey” that she might be able to take home and share a hot bubbly bath with. A magical cat girl had to have her priorities after all!

Akiha glared at Blair. This place was getting more and more ridiculous with each passing moment. She just wanted to go home, not deal with an inadequate tour guide that was also a cat.
She hated cats.

"Far from it. If you're the kind of creature this place deems to be worthy, I'm not sure I want to associate with it. You're a lazy, pathetic tour guide that's not even doing whatever job you were given," Akiha snapped. "If you're a good example of what we're going to be forced to deal with here, perhaps this war will be easier to end than I originally assumed and I can be back home sooner rather than later."

She whispered softly, "Pum-pumpkin-pumpkin~". As her index finger swayed several miniature jack-o-lantern pumpkins appeared heading straight towards the jealous girl's face. Oh, relax! Blair wasn't going really hurt the guest. Maybe just startle her. But only a little! Otherwise Maka might be upset with the magical cat for scaring off new students. Then she'd never hear the end of it!

She didn't know what the little pumpkins were for, but having them appearing out of nowhere and then launched at her face did not improve her mood any. She'd had far more dangerous things sent at her like black keys. Without hesitation, her hand came up to quickly deflect the things, not knowing that they might explode...

Still, he couldn't help but stare as that cat took a human form. And, perhaps surprisingly, his gaze wasn't fixed solely upon her... assets.
He soon became aware of his own gaze; one way or another, it was rude to stare. "Beg pardons, madam; I was unaware there were witches in the employ of Death city."

"Hello there, sir! I am Rock Lee! I would like to help as Blaire-san is currently taking care of another's needs." He nodded to the shape-shifter and Akiha, then cringed. Threatening them with pumpkin attacks could hardly be seen as "taking care" of them. The green-clad ninja scratched at his head, turning back to the young man with a chuckle. "She is not a witch, though! Do not be fooled by her fashion sense or magical prowess! She is simply... a cat!"
He cleared his throat, then made a sweeping gesture to the city streets. "Is there anything or anywhere you may have questions about? I will gladly be of service to you!"
((ooc: If you'd rather have Blaire respond, just shoot me a pm and I can delete my response! ^-^b))

"...You would call it that?" Ramza, of course, was no more convinced that pumpkin-bombardment was any sort of... behavior for a tour guide. By now, he was willing to simply accept it as another fluke of Death City. "...It would make as much sense as calling her a cat," he muttered. Nonetheless, this spritely youth's good will was enough to return Ramza's thoughts to his offer.
"Oh, you have my thanks." Ramza extended his hand. "I'm Ramza. And... start with whatever you wish; I wouldn't know where to begin."

Well, suffice to say, 'chilling' wasn't a word he could use to describe her. She really did have the demeanor of a c--
"...Wait, 'the cute ones'?"
This was starting to hurt his neck. Ramza peeled Blair from his head, holding her in front of himself as he regarded her. "Very well, where would you have us go?"

He rolled his eyes at Blaire's "cute ones" comment but was primarily amused. Sure, Ramza wasn't necessarily hard to look at, but Lee had more eclectic tastes when it came to what was cute. Or handsome. But that was beside the point. Lee allowed Blaire to show the young man what he meant about a cat, and gave her free reign to explain what she wished. He moved on to the important areas. What he considered important, anyway.
"Then we should start with the Watch office!" Lee gave a general sweep of his arms towards the giant staircase. "At the foot of Shibusen lies the office headquarters of the Watch, the general patrol force of the city run by the many guest current residing here! I myself am a patrolman for the Red Light District."
no subject
A Watch-house was a straightforward enough place to start, as well. Even if Ramza wasn't quite certain what Lee had meant by 'Red Light District,' he gave a thoughtful nod and a hum of consideration; someone would need to play overseer to city full of weapons and warriors. Though, admittedly, this brought about a follow-up question of his own...
"Are kishin so bold as to attack the city...?"

He made a grand gesture to the sprawling city that surrounded Shibusen, then spun on his heel to face Zero. "What would you like to see first? Is there anything about the city itself you would like to know?"
no subject
"So anyone can room at the places for newcomers? You don't try to divide out humans and non-humans?" Zero had already faced more humans today than he'd had to in years.

Now that Lee thought about it, he wasn't sure how things had worked out for Temeraire in the beginning. The dragon was hardly apartment-sized.

Aranea smiled quietly, not having a question to ask except perhaps if Blair could become any other forms.

Not that the attention was unwelcome.
"Yes, I know." Aranea smiled. "I met one of them in the Kinshin chamber."
Oh, but that wouldn't do. She started a conversation with her, so that's nice. "It's nice to meet you, Blair. My name is Aranea."
She paused a bit before adding. "It was very nice of you to us around the city."

Of course, the appearance of Blair certainly helps derail every single train of thought.
The first thing that comes to mind is cute. It's a cat! A cat in a giant over sized witch's hat. You really can't get more adorable than that and he loves cats. Of course, the minute she starts talking he practically jumps. The directions go completely over his head and then when she changes into a girl the first word that comes to mind is quickly said in the form of a question out loud from the very back of the crowd.]
Are you a chimera?
no subject
"Huh?" She cast the metal guy a confused look. "What's one of those?"
no subject
[He just doesn't understand the concept behind talking magical cat.]
