Description: Every morning in the city, Morning Training takes place to prepare the guests of the city for the war. It's handwaved most days, but approximately once a month this gets played out in a log. This log takes place on February March 4th.

[Matthew smiles politely as he takes a seat, crossing his legs.]

Ah, this reminds me of my youth in my homeland, the kingdom of Ostia! Nothing beat being out in the fields, learning to hunt and survive off of nothing more than beautiful mother nature herself.

[He shuts his eyes in a moment of reminiscence, then looks back to his instructor.]

How shall we begin?

[He wanted to ask more questions, but felt that it was better for another time. Well... at least until after he's tried to help him transform! So Yuuri kept his question locked within for now, and instead focused on the task at hand.]

Alright! First I want you to close your eyes and think of the one thing that's most important to you. It can be a person in your life, an object, or even a place.

[He shuts his eyes and begins to think deeply.]

[The one thing that is most important...lord hector, no, all of Ostia...wait, Leila...how I miss her so...if only I didn't wait that one last mission, perhaps she would still be here, by my side...to hear her voice would bring me more joy than angels...]

I believe I have the one most important thing, or in this case, person, in mind.

That's good to hear.

[He had to remind himself to keep his voice soft and quiet, and did just that when he spoke up next.]

Try and focus your mind on the feelings you have for that person, and let those feelings begin to soak through your body.

[My feelings for her...what feelings do I NOT have for her? Such a beautiful, young woman...from the moment I first laid my eyes on her in Ostia I knew she was special...how I was fortunate enough to say we had such a relationship leaves me baffled to this day...it pains me so that she is gone, though...to the hands of that murderous cur...if only I stopped her...]

[He twitches for a second, shedding a single tear.]

[But so is life...not fair to all by any stretch of the mind...but why her of all...why not me instead...Leila.]

I feel every ounce of this person coursing through my veins.

[Yuuri blinked when he saw the tear. He wanted to ask if something was wrong, but given what he'd asked the other male to do, the young Maou kept his silence for now. It was something personal, and he didn't want to intrude even if he felt his heart clench lightly at the sight.]

That's good... keep your mind focused on those feelings until you start feeling a warmth in your chest.

[He went quiet again, waiting for that to happen.]

When you feel it, reach out to gently take hold of it with your mind.

[If he manages to do it, then he'll be able to begin transforming.]

[He takes a few deep breaths, lowering his head.]

[Will I ever meet her again...here...It could be possible, but...best not get my hopes up...but...her innocent, quiet life...why must it end...how I wish I could have taken her place...Such passion in my heart still lingers...for a future...in which we take care of each other...no matter the cost...for our souls' sake...]

[His eyes tighten up, shedding a few more tears.]

[I promised...to keep her alive, no matter the cost...and...here I am...not her...why must, not only life, but love as well, be a piercing spear to those who live on...I am such a naive fool...to let her venture out, without so much as a goodbye...when I should have never allowed her to go in the first place...]

[He raises his head back up slowly, stretching his right arm forward. The words that come forth from his lips are broken and shaky.]

Leila...I am still here...awaiting your return...I will never let you go...so long as I hold breath in my lungs, hope in my mind, and love in my soul...

[One more single tear falls from his closed left eye, leaving his head raised, right arm still stretched forward, as if waiting for someone to step forward to meet him.]

[Yuuri's expression softened when he heard those quiet words. He didn't say anything, and felt almost as if he was intruding on a private moment.

Who was Leila?

That question circled his mind while he sat there quietly to see if the strong emotion that he felt for whoever she was was enough to give him the desire to protect something and transform.]

[He lowers his head, wipes away the tears, and lowers his arm.]

She...we met in the military back in Ostia at a young age...we grew up quickly after meeting, always striving to best the other in any way we could...but soon we slowly began building an astoundingly strong relationship...She was the love of my life...

[One more single years slowly falls from his left eye.]

I was informed that she was going to resign from the military after one last infiltration mission...but...she was...found out, and killed by a man named Jaffar...I knew before she started her mission that she needed to resign...I should have stopped her, but I did not wish to impede her desires...but now, she is gone...I was told to allow her to live no matter the cost...even by my own life...but, I failed...

[He glanced down at the admittance to a question that he hadn't even asked. Was this man psychic? Yuuri never liked to hear of anyone dying, especially not in such a way, and he felt his heart sadden at the thought.]

...I'm sorry...

[Memories begin to flood through the mind of Matthew, leading to another few tears to fall from his eyes. He slowly open his eyes, still looking down.]

She was more than my love...she was my best friend...

[Slowly, he raises his head, wiping away his tears with his left arm.]

It is okay, I must learn to finally accept what has happened and move on, just as I always have...no matter how painful it may be...

She would be upset if she saw me shed tears like this...I must stop, if not for myself, for her.

[He gradually brings forth his cheery grin once again, looking straight into Yurri's eyes.]

I hope I did not worry you too severely. It is just a bit difficult, at least for a spell, to live your every day life without the most important piece of your soul...

[He closes his eyes, keeping his slim smile, yet appearing very deep in thought.]

She will never come back...this is the cold, hard truth...but I will never give up or give in and will always fight...for her...
