Description: Every morning in the city, Morning Training takes place to prepare the guests of the city for the war. It's handwaved most days, but approximately once a month this gets played out in a log. This log takes place on February March 4th.

Clare sat quietly in the area, wearing a little name tag on the beat up denim jacket she was wearing. It said "Weapon" in green, with a little drawing of a silver shield in the corner. Of course while she was actively seeking a partner, or just to practice resonance. She was in a bit of a mood, looking rather lonely.

Aqua wasn't entirely sure she was ready to find another permanent partner yet. Things were still a little too raw, hurt a little too much for her to really consider it.

Still, it would do her good to find people to go out on missions with and, besides, she'd promised Clare she'd try to work with her.

So when Aqua spotted Clare, she walked over with a smile.

"So that's where you were."

Clare looked up at Aqua, smiling a little too coyly to just be the usual level of discomfort Clare carried in the city. Her incident on the field trip was... illuminating and jarring. Clare has a habit of lying to herself, and madness takes away that buffer. When Aqua arrived Clare was lost in the negative half of the events, once she stood up she tried to focus on the positive.

"Hi Aqua, here I am," She needed to go on missions, it was about the only good to come from her chat with Cloud was that there isn't any way to properly test yourself than a mission. But to do that she needed a partner, and to get a partner she needed to attempt resonance with people. "I need to work on finding a partner, this seemed like the place."

She did cast Clare a brief, worried look, though she didn't comment. Things that made people sad, was one thing, she'd found that it was usually better not to ask about things that made people uncomfortable.

For now, she'll just focus on the question on hand unless it seems like it's affecting her more than this.

"Have you found anyone to try with yet?"

"Not that'll work for missions," Clare answered, which wasn't exactly the whole story, but true enough for the time being. It was fortunate Aqua was staying on task, because Clare didn't have a good answer to what was bothering her. Not... one she could share. "Most people aren't comfortable going into a fight with a shield."

Or they didn't want her, that was the other thought in Clare's mind.

"So..." Clare tucked a bit of wavy hair behind her ear, not touching the fringe obscuring one of her eyebrows. ...It popped right back into place hiding her ear again in a mass of brunette, "Have you found anyone to work with right now?"

"Not really." She knew Mickey probably would if she asked, but she couldn't keep bothering him like that.

"I think a shield could be really useful though." She held out a hand because, why not? It never hurt to try right and after all, "I said I'd try to help, right?"

"Maybe I should find a partner in the Watch," there was a certain elegance to the logic. She wasn't reliable on her offensive powers, but her defensive powers would work very well when defending the city. Even if her form was useful, most missions were hunting... at least, she assumed. "I'm sure my form is useful, but I don't make for the mission ending quickly."

Clare took Aqua's hand with only the slightest of awkwardness, a calming breath bringing her back to the matter at hand. She hoped Aqua didn't notice she looked away as they took hands. It wasn't like it took long for Clare's wavelength to twist to match Aqua's. Clare worked a little harder to get a slightly stronger resonance than she normally found, but it was still like Clare's was too tense to relax into a stronger resonance.

"That could work. With the kind of work we do, a Weapon with an ability like yours could be useful." She let out a thoughtful hum, "You could even try one of those investigation missions. Not every mission is about killing Kishin Eggs, and those are just as important."

If she did notice Clare looking away, Aqua made no mention of it. The tenseness, however, needed to be addressed.

"Relax."

Clare wasn't so sure she liked the idea of investigation missions... right now anyway. The idea of looking for information seemed safe enough, unless she wandered into a high-madness area, or a Kishin egg chamber, or any other manner of 'bad things' out there. "I'll stick with simple until I'm a bit better at all this."

"I am?" Yeah, that was believable. A wave of sadness emanated from the girl. "This is pretty much how I always am during resonance. Unless I'm crazy, and you really don't want that. I don't know how to be more relaxed than this."

"I see." Well, in that case, they might want to try something else.

She closed her eyes, taking slow even breaths.

"Try to follow my lead." She imagined the sound of water, of waves hitting the shore, a sound she loved and tried to focus the feeling it brought her and project it. She wasn't sure if this would work (she'd never really tried something like this) but if Clare was matching her soul wavelength maybe Aqua could lead her a little by relaxing herself.

Clare was very good at following, she had some leadership qualities, but not enough to actually lead without a proper direction in place. But following, letting someone else set the pace? That's something she can do.

She couldn't tell what Aqua meant, at first. The layers of Clare's baggage and pain between them made subtle things harder to notice. Walls hiding her heart. Eventually she noticed Aqua's feelings, just a little, and tried to focus on that. It... helped, but there was a lot in the way.

"Sorry..." Clare wasn't... she was still damaged.

"You don't need to apologize. These things don't come easily to everyone."

There was something in the way of the way. Not enough that they couldn't resonate at all, but enough that it was noticeable.

"Clare, do you trust me?"

It wasn't that this didn't come easily, she could match wavelengths as easily as she could write a brief fiction. She wasn't sure which part of the neurotic mess of her mind made this work. She figured it was how dependant she was on the approval of others, but it was.

Her past got in the way of it working. And a lot of that past were her choices, so she did feel it was her fault, she just wasn't good enough. Which is where Aqua's question has her a bit undecided. Consciously yes, she trusted her. Clare trusted anyone provided they hadn't burned her in the past. She believed people were good, until she saw reason not to.

But there was that doubt in her head, just below the surface. Whispering about how people aren't what they seem. Which she ignored, but it was still there, a part of her as much as her mad side was.

"Yes... but, I don't trust myself."

"Clare..." She said out loud, forgetting for a moment that she could speak using their connection.

She didn't personally know this feeling, but she's seen it in other people before. Seen it in Terra, and in Ven. She hadn't known how to fix it then and she didn't know how to fix it now.

Connected like this, it shouldn't be hard for Clare to pick up on a brief flare of sadness from Aqua.

"I trust you." Couldn't that be enough?

Clare looked up, her eyes filled with guilt. She knew what she should say, but she couldn't find the words. So she went with the next truth down, still there but less specific. Aqua's words should have helped but they just weren't enough, and fanned flames they were meant to put out.

Her resonance was what she could work with, maybe sharing this would make the gap smaller. She didn't think it would fix it, "I took advantage of a previous partner... during the black blood incident. I wasn't me, but it's still a part of me I can see, feel. She isn't another person, or any sort of delusion... she's what I want, if I didn't care."

"Trusting me doesn't help if you don't know that side, and I don't want you to meet it yet. Not till I feel comfortable explaining it." Clare could sense that sadness, but she didn't know how to ask about it. Not with that in the air... well, in their resonance. Suddenly feeling the eyes of the grounds on her, even if they were phantoms. People were far too busy training to watch her break down, but she felt it.

"The part of you that cares is what matters, Clare." She knows this. After the Moral Manipulation Machine incident she knows this better than anyone.

"Whatever the black blood turned you into, even if it is a part of you, it's missing the most important part...and even though I don't know the other side of you, I know this one." She looked off in the distance, "I think, everyone has a part of themselves they're not proud of, but that part of them doesn't define who they are."

Clare's resonance grew a little stronger, but... not by much. She was still holding back, and it seemed she'd keep holding back till she felt really comfortable baring herself completely. Which... if her madness side had it's way, would be literal. A thought Clare didn't feel like sharing, so she buried it deep within herself for the moment.

"Thanks, but..." Clare sighed, "I won't really be able to believe that completely until you meet that side of me and don't run away. ...Sorry."

"I understand." she wished it wasn't so, but there's no helping it. It might be best to change the subject.

"You said something about your emotions affecting your abilities over e network?"
