Description: Every morning in the city, Morning Training takes place to prepare the guests of the city for the war. It's handwaved most days, but approximately once a month this gets played out in a log. This log takes place on February 25th.

How am I supposed to fight with you? Do I throw you at the enemy?

'Not like that,' [[Though Bakura did smile at that idea]] 'You roll the die, and for an attack, 1 or 0 triggers an energy blast. You just aim where you want the blast to go and it I think only hurts the thing that you target. Though it doesn't seem to work well on physical targets, just kishin and things like that.'

Then it is a game of chance?

[Loki turns the die around in his fingers, looking at how high the numbers go. A one out of five chance of an attack? Sounds risky to him.]

[shiromadoushi]

'Not really. I can make the die fall on the number I need. Though sometimes it's a 1 instead of a 0, which isn't as powerful. It's only when I can't focus that it's random.'

[attentionwenches]

[He nods, understanding. That's rather better, then.]

All right. Ready to try?

[Once he feels what it's like, Loki feels sure that he can figure out how it's supposed to go.]

Whenever you are ready, my friend.

'Ready! Roll!'

[Loki flicked his wrist, causing the die to sail gracefully out of his hand. Inwardly, he wondered if this was like magic, where one channeled one's own energy into inanimate matter. He found that if he tried he could do something similar, letting his own energy flow towards the die through the red cord that linked it to his palm.

It was important not to push. Magic couldn't be forced. Its power was a whisper, not a bellow.]

[[That was different... Bakura almost started at the sudden addition, taking just a second to adjust before leaning into it as the die tumbled, somehow managing to land back in Loki's palm, the 0 showing for just a moment before the die began to glow white.]]

'Aim! Think of where you want the shot to go and point to it!'

[Whoa, what was that? His power was returning to him -- no, it was not his but Bakura's. Was that how resonance worked? As if both partners were enchanting each other at once? It was as if the energy were in a cycle --

But wait, he had to figure out where to send the impending blast. Loki's head turned back and forth, looking for somewhere -- anywhere -- that didn't have a person in the line of fire. True, Bakura had said it didn't work well on things that were physical, but Loki had not seen the attack in action yet.

There! He spotted a small stump. It had a person sitting on it, but if Loki aimed right, it should be all right... Loki palmed the die in one hand and pointed the other at the stump's base.]

[shiromadoushi]

[[It was easier when the hand pointing was the one that held the die, but Bakura did his best, the blast of white energy rippling out from the die to try and reach where Loki was pointing. The attack seemed to all but vanish into the stump, leaving no damage or any indication it had been there past a small haze of white that lingered for just a moment before dissipating.]]

[Not bad for a first try. There was room for improvement, sure. But Loki was delighted to have made it work -- and also to see the person who had been sitting on the stump leap up with a startled yelp. He couldn't hold back a laugh before calling out.]

[[Bakura couldn't help but laugh himself]]

'It works better when there's something to actually attack, since the attack works like a really aggressive form of Purify. But you can see how it works with this!'

[The person turns away in a huff. Loki feels a little bad and a lot amused.]

If I were to target a human, would it harm them?

It's just the "..wait. Crap. I can't use italics for both. Uh..."

'I don't think so. I accidentally hit Aoshi-san once with it and it didn't hurt him at all, thankfully!'

[Loki tosses the die up and down in one hand thoughtfully, filing that information away.]

What of the other numbers? Is there anything else you can do?

[[It was always an odd feeling when his Weapon form was being handled, and being repeatedly tossed, but not in a way that was meant to be a roll was even more so. The red thread clung tightly to Loki's palm, keeping Bakura from flying to far with the toss]]

'2 or 3 is a shield, though it's a pretty quick one, not very high level, and 4 or 5 is a heal. Only for recent things, though. Still pretty useful! Haven't figured out 6 through 9 yet, they might be fumbles, since in Monster World and in D&D, really, you need to roll over or under a specific number to be successful.'

[Loki stopped his idle playing, instead examining the red thread that was attached painlessly to his palm. Really, Loki could barely feel it. It would be creepy were it not so fascinating.]

All would prove quite useful in battle. You're a talented Weapon.

[[There was a clear feeling of mild embarrassment at the praise]]

'Aaaa... thank you. It helps make up for the fact that I'm really no good on my own, thankfully! And I still need a lot more practice...

[[Because he so rarely could take a compliment without deflecting it]]

[It's okay, Bakura, that boils down to a cultural misunderstanding: Bakura is from a culture where implying you agree with a compliment is rude, while where Loki's from, it's a sign of weakness. There's no helping it.]

Your voice, in my head -- can I hear it because we are resonating?

[He's pretty sure he felt Bakura's embarrassment a moment ago, too, and wonders if emotions are shared through this strange magic as well.]

[[No helping it at all]]

'Un! Since I can't really talk as a die! It wouldn't be very good if we couldn't communicate at all. It's also really helpful if you need to be stealthy, being able to talk without speaking aloud.'

[attentionwenches]

Really! So if I were to --

--'think hard in your direction, you would be able to hear it?'

[shiromadoushi]

'Yup!' [[utterly cheerful]]

[attentionwenches]

'Remarkable! I had no idea establishing a telepathic connection was so simple here!'

[Loki is thrilled. Magic in his world was commonplace, but psychic abilities? Those were weird.

Suddenly, though, there's a flash of curiosity, mingled with slight concern.]

'I'm also sensing what I believe to be some of your emotions. What exactly can you sense from me?'

[shiromadoushi]

'The stronger a bond between a Weapon and Meister, the more things that can be done, it's really neat! I've heard that if you really resonate perfectly, you even get an extra super attack, just like in the video games!' [[So much nerdy glee. So much...]]

'And mostly it's just emotions. With Vash, after we'd started doing missions and really worked on things, I could feel a lot of things like how tense he was and how fast he heart was beating, it was really neat! Oh! And I can see what you're seeing too, which was really helpful with Vash, since there was a hollow part in his arm that he said used to have a gun in it, that I could be in when transformed that was really handy, so I could still see what was going on that way.'

[attentionwenches]

[That did sound cool. And as Bakura explained about emotions, Loki nodded in understanding -- then the hollow arm was mentioned. Loki couldn't conceal a sense of horror.]

'I-inside his arm?'
