Description: Every morning in the city, Morning Training takes place to prepare the guests of the city for the war. It's handwaved most days, but approximately once a month this gets played out in a log. This log takes place on February 25th.

[He's obviously out of shape, but his dual-wielding technique is, to say the least, quite dazzling. He warmed up on a practice dummy, and now wants a bit of sparring.]

[Something's off about Neji today. Most may not recognize this as much different from any other day because in fact, most of the past week he's looked pretty much the same- bothered by something. A touch more irritable than usual, his reservoir of patience thinning just that much more quickly, his eyes distract to the far walls of the city more than a few times.

But he's still here for the moment; moving with an apparent restlessness as he stands by ready to assist with forms, spar, or just talk to anyone that might need it. Specializing in hand-to-hand and more specifically, a type of non-lethal combat, that doesn't mean he's at all afraid of taking on armed opponents.

Feel free to find the grumpy overseer wandering, training, meditating, or otherwise preoccupied with the horizon]

[Oh, hey look it's Neji!

Awesome, he'll just be wandering over there toward you, Nej.

He's utterly oblivious to the fact that there's anything wrong, at least for the time being - far too distracted by the fact that it's Neji, and they hadn't really spoken since before he got sent off to train with Kurama. Or at least, that's the last he remembers, it's easy to forget that Neji doesn't have the same memories as he does.

Yeah, he's probably standing a little too close but just be glad that those arms of his arm folded behind his head and not slung over your shoulder.]

[His training keeps him from jumping, but he turns toward Naruto a little too fast to be considered casual. Annoyance flickers over his expression then disappears. He really must not have been paying attention if Naruto managed to approach him without his notice.

And because answering with 'nothing' would probably only serve to stir up more invasive questioning, Neji decides to skip over answering in favor of one of his own inquiries]

Naruto. I assume you've discovered whether you're a Meister or Weapon by this point..

[Fast enough to make him glance over again, where he had been trying to figure out whatever the hell it was you were trying to look at there... nope, nothing apparently.

If you're trying too hard, he's not picking up on it just yet. The question has his arms falling to hang at his sides, pout pressing his lips together.]

Yeah yeah, I'm a Meister yanno? I guess. Dunno what my-- thing is but I guess I'll find out, dattebayo.

[It really isn't much; a distant wall, endless barren landscape beyond that with a blue sky stretched over it. Nothing that appears particularly interesting.

And Naruto hadn't changed much in that respect, at least. Though his old partner had been taken out of the city, he'd have to start over again regardless. As for his Meister ability..

Neji eyes Naruto with a hint of suspicion. With any luck it'd be different]

Meister abilities can be discovered through resonance, meditation, or a critical moment on the field, depending. Most seem to have best results with the first option. ..There's a division devoted to Weapon transformation run by a Shibuya Yuuri where you'd likely have the best luck searching for someone to practice with.

[Trying to get rid of you, Naruto? Never. Just being his helpful self]

[Well, that's just dumb then, isn't it? If there's nothing there to look at but you keep looking back at it. :|

How could Naruto change much, anyway? Only that edge of seriousness, heavily shrouded in-- well, something that was uniquely Naruto.

He knows you're looking at him funny though.]

Hm? Meditatin'? I can do that.

[Although, readying himself for it obviously involves reaching his arms up either side of him and twisting his body repeatedly from side to side.]

Oi, right so you mean like tryin' t'find a partner? Hey, you can just practice though huh? What're you anyway?

[He's strolling around, assisting where he can, but there's... Neji's not himself. Gai frowns and waits for a break, coming over when he sees opportunity.]

My student. Are you well?

[He's felt like this a few times over the course of his stay in Death City- to get out, go, lose himself in something else. During those times the city walls seem to come in closer and he grows restless; the feeling of something holding him back.

But he's not surprised to see Gai coming toward him and manages to keep from pacing. He could avoid the question if he wanted to, but he didn't have the patience to stay a step beyond reach. Instead, the truth- or at least part of it]

Lain and I are being reassigned within the Watch to another district. I wouldn't mind if we didn't need to watch the borders outside the city. My training isn't coming along as fast as I'd prefer..

[Gai nods.]

They do not have a good set-up on the border. Your positioning there was a wise choice. I had not thought of that when Roy was speaking of re-assigning.

[He thinks for a moment.]

What if you asked to step down from leadership of a Zone and take up a position on the walls for Shibusen? You have the position because you deserve it, but sometimes what is needed is not what is deserved. And what training is not progressing?

Then we leave one of two heavily populated zones without direction or coordination. [He shakes his head] Lain and I are among the most experienced pairs in the Watch, and with BREW sending home at least half of Death City's active partnerships every so often, it seems impossible to keep as many Zone Leads as the city needs for any amount of time..

[Which is why he can understand Roy's decisions in that regard]

As for my training, I'm working with Azusa-san to improve Clairvoyance. Eventually, I'll be able to resonate at a distance, but there are a number of steps to take before then.

[Hinata would have been content to go off and do her own training, except she could easily tell something was off with Neji. She honestly didn't think those key chains would have bothered him this much, even her collection, but... The way he still looked bothered her. And she couldn't even tell if it was truly because of that.

She approaches with a tentative smile.]

Is there...something the matter, Neji-niisan?

Hinata-sa-- [Catching himself as he turns and mindful of his promise to Hanabi, he straightens from the reflexive bow his body had tried to follow through with] ..Hinata.

[It's been a week of hit and miss effort since then, but he's trying. Discarding a number of rehearsed lines learned from years of careful words, he wonders what a real brother do in this situation]

I'm just beginning to find that there are some things I should be doing, and others I shouldn't.

[hyuuga]

[Her eyes widen as she watches him stop his body from bowing, and then as he addresses her without the honorific. She had noticed it in private once or twice, but out in public was an entirely different situation. And yet, her smile is the warmest and more genuine than it has been in a while.

She feels like she finally understands what he's been trying to do.]

Mm, better late than never...right? [She's not quite serious about that. She's just happy.] But, um... So long as they are things you also want to do, then I'm glad for you.

[While he'd never thought Hinata as the type to demand deference, she'd grown accustomed to it as a member of the Head family and so it was with relief that he took in her pleased expression. Maybe they could be more than a divided house]

I suppose. And the things I want to do will have to wait for the time being, as there are a number of obstacles to overcome before I reach them.

[When Hanabi approaches Neji, she has a bottle of water in her hand for him. Something is wrong. She can see the little signs in his body language. Although she won't pry about it while others are within earshot, she is curious as to what's troubling him.

In the meantime, she'll just come and talk with him.]

I brought you some water, Neji-niisan.

[Neji accepts the bottle with a blink of surprise, and guesses the gesture might have something to do with what a younger sister might do for her older brother. He smiles a bit with a nod]

Thank you, Hanabi. [There's a question and- concern?- swimming in her eyes, and finds that it's much harder to carry on unnoticed with two other Hyuuga to watch him.

Neji takes a drink of water to give himself a moment to find something else to talk about] How is your training coming along?

It's going well, thank you. Training with Black*Star-sensei is really helping my soul wavelength get stronger, and I'm working on my endurance, too.

[Not that she was a slouch in that department to begin with, but Black*Star took training to a level that was likely reminiscent of Neji's experiences with Gai. Complete with the volume level. Black*Star was thankfully far less inclined to hug than Gai was.]

I'm learning how to use weapons like guns and swords, too.

[She sounded more productive than he felt]

Interesting. Are you fond of wielding either in particular?

[And he briefly wondered if he should really be encouraging his very young cousin into such dangerous practices, but dismissed it just as quickly. She'd had the option of a civilian life, and chose differently. He knew she was capable and more ready than children several years her senior. He'd protect her, but not go so far as to cage her into safety]

[ Mithos has been practicing the past few weeks by himself developing his skills and working on his sword without the ability to perform special techniques like back home. Now that he feels more comfortable with fighting with a sword without mana he's warming up a dummy. Feel free to come along and see about sparring with him. ]

[ Sophie wanders on over from her own practice dummy, having grown a little... bored of training a little too quickly.

She's going to be standing off to the side, quietly watching him practice on a dummy. She'll wait until he's done or until he notices her. ]

[ It doesn't take long for Mithos to notice Sophie standing and watching him. Before noticing her he had rushed forward to attack the dummy, practicing the move that he had been taught from Duke just the day before. One slash to the side, then a quick slash to the side and finishing off with a quick side to the back.

Once he was done it was then he noticed Sophie. He lowered his sword and turned to move back to his standing point and noticed. ]

Oh! Sophie!

[ She patiently waited and watched until he was finished. She had never seen him use that move before, but it looked pretty impressive. When he noticed her, she greeted him with a smile. ]

Good morning, Mithos. Are you done for now?

[ Mithos smiles back at Sophie ]

Morning. [ He then looks back at the dummy ] Hrm.. yeah. I've been practicing for a while. I should take a break soon.
