Description: Every morning in the city, Morning Training takes place to prepare the guests of the city for the war. It's handwaved most days, but approximately once a month this gets played out in a log. This log takes place on February 25th.

[Notices the wolf looking at her and can guess why.]

Keep on eating, Ammy. I'll tell you when you're done, okay?

[She tilts her head. What does that mean? Oh well... she goes back to eating.]

[It means Sheena doesn't want to spoil Ammy's meal with a sad trip down memory lane.]

It's okay.

[motherofthesun]

[If she said so, but Ammy wasn't sure. Again, the food was gone momentarily and she was licking the container clean]

[And again, Sheena fills up the bowl with water for her friend.]

Unfortunately, that's it for now. [She says with a small chuckle.]

[motherofthesun]

[She'll gladly lap up some water before raising her head again and licking her lips.]

[Well, that's fine. She feels plenty full for now.]

[Takes the napkin and helps the wolf clean up before drinking from a bottle of water she had saved for herself.]

Guess I should tell you. [Sighs] You reminded me of someone who had been pretty close to me.

[Now Ammy will learn why sentient animals don't frighten Sheena.]

[She sits and tilts her head, her ears turned forward. She's listening intently.]

[Takes a deep breath.] I can't remember if I told you about Corrine... But he was my first summon, and my best friend. [She smiles at Ammy.]

He's also the reason why talking animals don't surprise me. [Okay, so it had been a device Ammy had been wearing. It still counts.]

[motherofthesun]

[Corrine? Summon Spirits? Oh no, you haven't told her a thing at all about this, but do go on.]

[She can tell by the wolf's reaction that she hadn't mentioned those things.]

I'm a Summoner back home, and in order to figure out the Summon Spirits, scientists had somehow created one. His name was Corrine. [Chuckles.] He didn't like me at first.

[motherofthesun]

[Ohhh, she gets it! Kinda! Maybe if she thinks of her as a priestess or something. Well, of course you'll begin with a rocky relationship!]

[ninjainviolet]

[That can work.] They did all sorts of things to him in their research. Things that hurt. I...I let him go. [She turns away then back.]

It wasn't right. Even if I wanted to know about my own power. It wasn't right to do that to him.

[motherofthesun]

[Amaterasu nods slowly. She can understand why Sheena wanted to do that.]

[Sheena scratches behind a wolf ear absently.] He was able to speak and told me his name was Corrine. [She turns to the wolf.]

He was my best friend and would listen to me talk about my problems. He liked my cooking, too!

[motherofthesun]

[Well of course he would love your cooking! A wonderful chef's cooking should be loved!]

[Her smile fades slightly.]

He didn't always have to eat, since he was a Spirit, but I think he hated seeing me eat by myself.

[She had done that a lot in her life.]

[motherofthesun]

[Ah yes... but the thing is, it's still possible to eat and taste things so it's not all bad. Besides, eating with company is nice!]

[Her gaze grows distant.]

I was the first person he liked--after he got used to me, that is. He used to sit on my shoulder when we were walking.

I miss him.

[motherofthesun]

[She whines. He's not simply back in your world... is he?]

[ninjainviolet]

[Sheena understands that whine. Or maybe she just wants to tell Ammy. Either way, she says those words.]

He...died...not too long ago.

[motherofthesun]

[Her ears flatten. That's mighty unfortunate... She gives Sheena a small nudge.]

[She wraps her arm about Ammy's neck and buries her face in the soft fur there.]

[She woofs lightly and nuzzles against Sheena's side. You are most welcome.]

[It's been a long morning--both physically and emotionally--and Sheena can't help relaxing against the wolf. So much so, that she may just fall asleep.]
