Description: Every morning in the city, Morning Training takes place to prepare the guests of the city for the war. It's handwaved most days, but approximately once a month this gets played out in a log. This log takes place on February 25th.

I can. I dunno about Ma... [He snorted. She did seem to be really good at trolling him pissing him off.]

[Gray eyes lifted from his work, and his face stung a little more. An elbow shoved down his shirt a little more. Self-conscious? After that mild interruption, he finished down the line and worked to tie it off.]

[He leans back only a little to give Kanji some space, considering the other boy's skill. It's hard to tell there was ever any tear in the shirt at all.]

Was it just you and your mom?

[And actually, his voice gets a little hesitant. He doesn't really know if it's okay to ask Kanji about his family, but... he's curious.]

[And he left it at that, biting off the end of the thread and putting everything back in the box.]

[When he looked back, inspecting Takuto's clothing for anything that needed mending, he hadn't noticed he was sort of glaring like a hawk.]

[Takuto scooted just a little bit further away, cringing.]

S-sorry for asking!

[He looked up again.]

Huh? S'up with you?

[He didn't like that cringe.]

I... guess you don't like talking about your family?

[The words come out gingerly. Kanji is capable of some scary-looking glares!]

[He slowly lowered a brow.]

What's there to talk about? Ain't like they're here, and it ain't like they're interesting... just weird.

[He shook his head and clicked the sewing kit closed, pocketing it.]

Answerin' yer question again, yeah. I can make stuff. Y'want somethin'?

[Kanji has a point. And Takuto realizes he shouldn't be asking questions without being able to answer reciprocal ones.]

Well... [He hasn't thought of anything in particular, except... now that Kanji mentions it.... He can't help but think of how Sai said he'd wanted to see.... He brushes a hand unconsciously through his dazzling blond.]

I mean, I used to have this coat, back home... but it'd be pretty complicated to make and... [And he doesn't want to ask Kanji to go through the trouble of making it.]

['Complicated'? All Kanji heard was 'a challenge'. He sat up straighter.]

What'd this coat look like?

It was white. With some gold on it. [He looks at Kanji for a moment, and, given the boy's interested expression, decides to go into more detail.]

It had golden epaulets with blue orbs on top, and a high collar. It was doublebreasted and the buttons were blue, and instead of just white, parts of it were a kind of off-white. On the inside, it was bright red. The coat tails were huge, and hung down to my ankles when they weren't

[He didn't realize how much he missed wearing it until he started describing it. The whole outfit had been, in some ways, kind of like a part of him.]

And I wore a golden star, right here. [He presses his hand over his heart, eyes shining.]

[He listened, and noticed that change of tone in Takuto's voice as he described that coat in detail. Kanji slowly nodded, trying to paint a picture of it in his head, and by the time the other boy described the star, his mind was set.]

I'll do it.

[He nodded again, and looked the other boy over.]

...You doin' anything later? You could come by, get this thing drawn, get some measurements done. I needed a project.

[He'd finished that other project of his a while back. He just... needed to give it to her, now that he thought about it.]
