Description: Every morning in the city, Morning Training takes place to prepare the guests of the city for the war. It's handwaved most days, but approximately once a month this gets played out in a log. This log takes place on February 25th.

[He pulls his hand back to open up the bottle of water again and nods, failing to stifle a yawn.]

Though it's more like dinner to me with my Watch shift.

You're working Graveyard?

{She winces in sympathy.}

That can't be too fun.

[tauborn]

[He shrugs.]

It's kind of interesting? Well, really it's the shift my partner had before I joined, so I knew what I was getting into. But it's still strange to sleep in the middle of the day. It's like I'm nocturnal.

Well, you pretty much are. Or...what's the word...crepuscular? Since I'm assuming you eat most roughly around dawn and dusk.

Either way, considering the Sun here, you must have some heavy-duty curtains.

[tauborn]

I usually wake up at about seven or eight, and I don't know what crep...crepsclar? means.... [He gives her a sheepish shrug.]

And well, my partner's room doesn't have any windows, so sometimes I just sleep in there.

[itaidakimasu]

Ohhh. Are the two of you...?

{It isn't exactly strange, for a partnership to lead to more.}

[tauborn]

[His face turns a shade that matches his hair.]

N-n-no! Not like that! Just--it's dark in there and my dog likes to sleep in there! [His face feels like it's on fire because that is so totally not the impression he had been intending to make.] And yeah! So it's not like that! We're friends, and he's my partner, but we're just friends.

[itaidakimasu]

Oh! Sorry, sorry...I can be a bit too nosy sometimes. The downside of being a detective. I probably shouldn't have pried...

[tauborn]

Ah, no, I mean, it's okay.

[He can't really explain what other reasons he has to a girl he just met, though the dog one is pretty true. Firecracker is an excellent snuggler. But it's definitely time to change the subject.]

A-anyway, being a detective sounds cool, though. I bet you're really smart.

[itaidakimasu]

I like to think so, at least. It's pretty cool, though, getting to work with others for once...

[tauborn]

You worked alone in Tokyo?

[itaidakimasu]

Well, kind of. Me and my partner, mostly. I mean, due to what we were investigating we crossed paths with the police a lot, but...well we were private investigators, so it wasn't really normal for us to collaborate with other agencies.

[tauborn]

[Well, that makes sense.]

That sounds like a movie or something, though. Being a private investigator in a big city....

[itaidakimasu]

Sometimes it barely feels real.

{Like a bizarre dream. Or a nightmare.}

[tauborn]

I guess it's like how the sorts of thing that happened to people like us back home seem strange now that things we'd normally think strange happen every day here.

[People turning into things like whips and swords, for example, were so bizarre you didn't want to believe it unless you saw it. And the sun and the moon seem to be pretty unique to this world.]

[itaidakimasu]

I've gotten used to 'strange', honestly. I mean, anything is possible, right? Witches and demons and magic...

[tauborn]

Anything is possible... I think. [He frowns a little and then shrugs and flops back down onto the grass, staring up at the sky.] It's just a matter of perspective, right?

[itaidakimasu]

Exactly. Your perspective, how broad your horizons are...life is crazy, you know?

{She looks up as well, a soft smile lighting up her face.}

[tauborn]

Yep. [He yawns again.] It's never quite what you expect it to be.

[itaidakimasu]

Very true.

Long night?

[tauborn]

No longer than usual, I guess. But training this morning has really wiped me out.

[He's still struggling with the idea that his sensei and friend Kaoru is absent. Something tells him she didn't decide to just not show up.]

[itaidakimasu]

You should eat, more if you have already, cool down a bit more, then take a nap or something. Best not to push your body too much, right?

{Says the glutton who has actually lost a pound or three over the last few months and functions on about four hours of sleep nightly.}

[tauborn]

[He can't help but grin a little.]

You should have seen me at the breakfast. I'm pretty good friends with one of the cooks. [And he's probably going to head back to his apartment to check on his dog, maybe take the puppy for a short walk, and then go right to sleep.]

[itaidakimasu]

Lucky man. Maybe next time.

[tauborn]

[He laughs a little.] Maybe I'll tell her to set something out as an offering for you~
