Description: Every morning in the city, Morning Training takes place to prepare the guests of the city for the war. It's handwaved most days, but approximately once a month this gets played out in a log. This log takes place on February 25th.

[There's a short pause. Last time he pursued something he wound up disappointed. And sometimes it's frustrating to have to pursue an answer instead of his student trusting him and opening up. But Gai doesn't take out his frustration on his loved ones; it's not fair. And so he'll pursue.]

And...?

[His tongue pressed against the roof of his mouth, not sure whether or not he wanted to elaborate on something else he was half-considering]

As the Witch has made clear several times in addition to my own personal experience, all of my skill up to this point is worth very little against our real enemies.

[Gai frowns, releasing Neji's shoulders.]

She has made very clear that she does not think any of us stand any sort of chance.

[And years of training and honing skills suddenly felt utterly worthless. He might not have given in to it if he'd been able to do anything against the one he'd found himself pitted against]

And she's apparently content to say so without offering any countermeasures. Why Shibusen even thought to let her wander when she's proving herself counterproductive-

[And that's a line of thought getting hotter by the second. Neji cuts it off and turns away sharply]

Nevermind.

And why she is at Morning Training makes no sense either when she is barely helping. I am beginning to wonder if she is not on our side, if she is here to shake up morale. But do not let her get under your skin, Neji. We cannot defeat the Witches as we are, but we can take on Kishin, and Spirit at the least is a Deathscythe. The guests are not the key to the battle. But we do not need to be. This war can be won.

[She was doing a good job of it, if that was her intention]

..Lain and I aren't striving for the goal of making her into a Deathscythe. We'll collect souls at our own pace, slow as it is, and intend to apply ourselves working in intelligence in the meantime.

[Gai nods.]

That is what your abilities here are suited for. I would expect nothing else. And the Witches, unless Cybele is on their side, do not have anyone to gather information as we do.

[That was certainly something to consider, but if Cybele truly thought all of them incapable, she wouldn't think much of any of them in a report. But perhaps a few had caught her eye and she intended to keep an eye on them]

I don't suppose you could see about having her removed from the field on the grounds of her apparent unwillingness to assist in training.

I do not even know who assigned her to teach. I was informed that she was going to teach at morning training from now on when they went over my head.

[There's displeasure in his voice. He's not part of Shibusen, but this is his responsibility and he doesn't like having someone go over his head. He doesn't like Cybele, either.]

I do what I can to minimize the damage she does. But sometimes I worry that it is not enough.

[Shibusen seemed remarkably stupid sometimes]

Then I'm going to find out what she's doing here.

[He knows he doesn't need to tell Neji that, and it might actually annoy the younger man, but Gai must say it anyway. He cares too much about Neji to not remind him that the Witch is dangerous.]

[He knows, and waves off the warning because he doesn't intend to approach her again at all]

I doubt speaking with her any further would yield any answers anyway.
