Morning Training!

Time: 6am to 9am
Description: Training takes place every morning in the park to prepare the guests of the city for the ongoing war. It's handwaved most days, but approximately once a month this gets played out in a log. This log takes place on July 8th.

[ Things have been harder than usually for her later. Although she's a Weapon - or maybe exactly because she is one - it's not as easy to fight the way she did back home. Things just don't seem as simple and straightforward anymore, but she still knows she has to return home, and preferably as quickly as possible. Yet she can't find any way for it rather than working and training harder and harder, no matter how much it wears her out.

No matter how harsh she has to be to everything - no matter how much the world and all the people on it rejects her. She'll fight by herself if she has to. She's used to it, isn't she? Of course she doesn't like it even if she's used to it, but..

.. The frustrations and emotions pile up, and today Masako practices until she's ran herself ragged. Normally she never looks weak anywhere where someone can spot her, but when she finally sits down, she looks absolutely miserable with how exhausted she is from both the training and what happened with Heisuke this night, her breathing uneven. ]

[Psii is far from the most outgoing troll, but human girl looks even more tired, and much more unhappy, than he feels. He goes over to her.]

Would ask if you are all right, but is obvious you're not.

[ At least it's not like she freaks out over his appearance or anything. She'd be too tired to do that even if she was the type to do that to begin with, either way. Masako tries to gather whatever dignity she has left right now together so she can at least look a little normal, brushing her hair out of her face. ]

I've just.. been training. [ The pause is there so she can finally take a deep breath inbetween what she's saying. It's pretty obvious that isn't the only thing up here, but she seems to insist. ] It must be the weather..

Is very hot. Am not a fan of human weather.

[It's only 'human' weather when he disapproves of it.

Psii is sure training is not the only problem, but thinks she must have not taken offered opening to topic for a reason.]

Why are you training for physical combat?

What else are we to do in this place? [ Training, going on missions, more training, dealing with weird incidents that happen here.. all for the sake of hoping to progress this war so she can just go home already, so she can save her family without having to live with this fear and insecurity that maybe she failed and maybe she's too late every day.

She avoids meeting his gaze. ]

Fighting is the only way to end this war, but apparently it's already been going on for a really long time.. will it even ever end?

*In Auron's experience, there are two kinds of people who push themselves in practice. One is to test their strengths and endurance and the other is to just try to forget something. He has a feeling this woman might be suffering from the latter.

He doesn't say anything, but as he's walking by, he does hand her a water bottle.*

[ She's probably grateful for the silence either way. Who knows if she's even up to talking while she's like this - in this mood and this exhausted to boot. Instead she wordlessly accepts the bottle, removing the cap and drinking some of it, first trying to catch her breath again.

When Masako finally does speak up from where she's sitting, it's not to say thanks. Instead she starts-- ]

.. This place is infuriating.

*Auron gives a little low chuckle.* That's a pretty broad assessment of this city. Is it everything that's infuriating or just certain parts?

Everything about it.

[ That they're being kept here while she has urgent stuff to attend to back home. That she actually doesn't want to fight just for another person's cause. That she doesn't know why she still almost cares for certain things here. It really is everything piling up at this point. ]

There's not a single good thing about this place.

[Aqua stopped her own practice when someone caught her eye. She watched the girl for a moment after wiping off her own sweat with a towel.

She remembered the times she'd practiced like that. She could count it on one hand, really and every time it had had something to do with a partner being sent back. She looked to the side and called for Lassie who was sitting off to the side, and the rough collie got up to follow Aqua as she walked over to the girl.

She leaned over with a polite smile.]

I have a spare towel if you want to use it.

[huntressing]

[ Her pride almost makes her turn it down, despite being in need of a towel by now. Part of her tells to just say yes too, to take advantage of it, but even that is something she can't really listen to while she's in this state, her thoughts a jumbled up mess. ]

.. If you insist. [ Not that Aqua is insisting at all - not now, at least - but Masako can't word it any other way with her current feelings. ]

[Aqua might have insisted if it was colder out, if leaving things might have ended with this girl catching a cold.

She just nodded though and handed the other girl a clean towel.]

A shower is better, but this helps.

[Lassie on her part, took a couple of steps closer and looked at this new person curiously.]

I have no time for that.

[ Not now. She has to keep training, keep fighting. She can't quit. Not if she wants to go back home to the things she has to do - otherwise she'll just be left behind all by herself and everything will have been for nothing.

Masako rubs her face with the towel for a moment before just sitting there and staring at it instead, thoughtfully. ]

[ There wasn't a day of the week where Duo went without speaking to someone new, though he tended to gravitate more than usual to people that seemed a little down. Down, or eccentric and interesting. His dog is wandering nearby, sniffing around for a place to go to the bathroom, probably, when he notices her, stepping up casually to strike up conversation. ]

Y'know, the power of wishing to go back home hasn't really worked on BREW just yet..

If only it did. If only it stopped using people who have better things to do..

[ From her hissed kind of tone despite her exhaustion, it's pretty clear just what exactly her issue is, huh. She frowns a little, but doesn't look directly at Duo at all - instead she stares at the ground, her frown almost making it seem like she's blaming that for all this. ]

If you think everyone here has better things to do, then I hope you're not countin' me. [ After all, with the war over, he didn't really have much else to do but live day to day, just like he was doing here. Admittedly, back in his home world he'd more than likely have more people that he implicitly trusted around more, but... he was getting close to that, here. If he could count Matt as someone that he could trust so much.

He squats down as the dog comes back, petting him when he comes over. ]

After all, back home all I have to do is.. pretty much this. Just with more travel options.

.. How lucky for you.

[ It's slightly snappy, but it's not like she's exactly in the best of moods. Sure, there probably are some people who just have an easy life either way, those who are actually chosen.. but since she's feeling bad already it almost feels like she's getting it rubbed in. ]

Unfortunately not all of us are capable of living easily without any worries of falling behind.

[Lily has been cleaning some of the mess left by the storm this morning, rather disheartened by how many of the flowers were crushed by the piles of sand. Those that couldn't be saved she cut away and tossed into a sack to be composted. She's on her way to empty the bag into the bin when she sees Masako and pauses.]

Are you all right? It's not good to overdo it with the training in this heat.

[huntressing]

I'm fine.

[ From her tone - aside from its curtness, even - it's pretty obvious that she's not. She's exhausted by now, both mentally and physically. Back home she had her will to save certain people to drive her, but being stuck in this place and exactly being unable to do that makes her pained. ]

[Lily frowns a tad because it's obvious she's not despite her words.]

Are you sure? You look like you should at least have some water and sit for a while. ['Ridden hard and put up wet' was what they would have said back in Texas, an expression referring to horses that hadn't been properly cooled down after a ride.]

[huntressing]

[ She knows Lily is right. It is what she needs, it's only logical, but she doesn't want to give in to it. If she has rest and water that quickly, she won't get stronger. She has to keep training, keep working, it's the only way.. it's the only thing she can do. ]

.. I have better things to do. [ She's obviously avoiding meeting the woman's gaze though. ]

[It's that pretty girl he met in the shelter! The one with the dismal outlook on life.... He walks up to her and manages to lean over so he's blocking the sun from her face.]

You're probably better off sitting in the shade after a practice session like that, Masako-san. [He hasn't seen her practice at all, but she looks worn out. And he gestures towards the trees at the edge of the park and then holds out a hand towards her to help her to her feet.]

[huntressing]

[ This guy..? She stares up at him, squinting against the harsh sunlight. Sure, she can see the hand he offers, but her pride is too strong - even now - to just plainly grab it and get up that way. ]

.. A.. as if I don't know that myself. [ So instead she's still sitting where she was sitting before, only a little more huffy now. ]

[He takes his hand back, a little miffed. But his level of pride isn't anywhere near hers, so he continues smiling warmly at her.]

Trying to get some sun, then? [He steps out of the way to stop blocking it. The sun doesn't seem to be drooling so much today, which is nice.]

[huntressing]

No. I.. still need to continue.

[ At least now she does get up, even if it's by herself. It happens slowly and she almost looks a little pained so it's probably painfully awkward to watch for most people, but she still goes on until she's fully standing up again. ]

I need to get stronger still. I cannot allow myself to be crushed.
