Morning Training!

Time: 6am to 9am
Description: Training takes place every morning in the park to prepare the guests of the city for the ongoing war. It's handwaved most days, but approximately once a month this gets played out in a log. This log takes place on July 8th.

[At some point, Lassie had wandered off. The rough collie did enjoy exploring and meeting new friends and Aqua usually just let her as long as Lassie didn't wander off to somewhere Aqua couldn't see her. Today was no exception.

As Lassie wandered off to greet people she knew and didn't know, Aqua sat off to one side, tying together some pieces of wood. She tightened the ties on the handle and it looked...like a giant wooden key, but without the teeth. Though there are other wooden pieces nearby and more leather cord so maybe she just hasn't gotten there yet.]

((OOC: Feel free to be bothered by the dog or bother Aqua!))

[ Duo didn't usually bring Zero to morning training, at least not when it was forecasted to become so hot later on in the day. He'd learned the first time, out in the desert, that temperatures could shoot up more rapidly than he'd ever thought they could, but the little guy had just been so eager when he'd gone to leave the apartment he couldn't resist. The braided teen lets the pup trot along beside him, and though Zero is young, he tends to listen to commands well enough for his age.

He still doesn't quite expect to be approached by a familiar rough collie, though Zero is fast to alert him to Lassie's presence, barking and rushing up to sniff the other dog, as if making sure she was friendly as Duo reaches down to pet her head. ]

Don't listen to him, he doesn't know what he's doin'.

[Lassie allows the sniffing with all the social grace of a dog that had been brought up well. (Which Aqua had to admit she couldn't take much credit for since it had probably been from Lassie's previous owner).

She greets Duo with a happy bark and a wag of her tail though.

It was the bark that made Aqua look up from her project to check on what was going on.]

Good morning. [She greeted from her spot. She tilted her head with a smile.] Is he yours?

Yeah, he's mine. [ Duo crouches down so that he can pet his jealous only child as he pets Lassie too, knowing that Zero will eventually have to get used to this sort of thing, not monopolizing his time or attention at all possible moments.

... Duo was, and always had been, the spoiling 'dog father.' ]

His name's Zero. How've you been?

Hello, Zero. It's nice to meet you.

[Then to Duo.]

I've been...well enough. [A little homesick though she doesn't want to admit it. So she does her best to smile.]

As well as you can get after the sand storm and all that, huh? [ he smiles, reaching down to pet the space between Zero's ears, a fond motion before he folds his hands back in to his lap, watching the puppy make new friends. ]

The desert makes me miss a friend who lived out in Arabia, in my world. He'd love this weather I think, other than the sand storms.

Yeah.

[It certainly was part of the problem.]

Arabia? Is it also a desert?

Parts of it is. Or at least the part where I was staying with him, while we were waiting on repairs. [ it had been fun, at least. He'd gotten a taste of the lap of luxury, that much was for sure, and it was nice to experience even if he knew he'd get bored with it, if it was his every day life. ]

Had lots of really good food, that's for sure. Spicy stuff.

[She smiled wryly.]

I'll take your word on that...even if I don't really like spicy food.

Lassie!

[He likes dogs. Firecracker chose to stay home from morning training, preferring to sleep in the air-conditioned apartment. And after a light workout, Takuto is more than happy to flop down in a shady patch of grass and scratch the collie behind her ears or try to convince her to roll over so he can rub her belly. She's a pretty dog, so he can't help complimenting her ("Who's the prettiest doggy in Death City~?") as he plays with her for a few minutes before realizing that Aqua must be nearby.

He looks around, spots her, and waves.]

[Lassie's only more than happy to roll over and have someone rub her belly. It was nice! Besides, which her current owner just didn't do it quite often enough. The shade was nice too on such a hot day.

Aqua on her part, had looked up briefly when she heard Takuto's voice, then left her project on her lap to watch them for a moment.

When he waves at her, she waves back. After a short pause, she gathers the wood and the leather ties and makes her way over to where they were and sat down with it. Much easier to talk this way.]

Hey. Having fun?

[He bobs his head up and down in an emphatic yes. He sits up, resting a hand on the collie, and peers at her craft supplies.] It seems you are, too. What have you got there?

[She looks down and fiddles with a small piece of wood.]

Just...soemthing I'm working on. [Something to hep with the homesickness she's been feeling lately.]

[He smiles warmly at her.]

May I see it when you're finished? [He's not particularly good at crafts himself, but he imagines that anything Aqua makes will be amazing.]

Of course. [She returns the smile before going back to her work. Her hands are quick and nimble as she continues to work on it. For someone who had spent so much time learning to fight, she was surprisingly good at this kind of thing.]

You've already seen it though. Or something like it at least. It's the same kind of weapon as my Weapon form. [But the shape is different because it's not her Keyblade she wanted to make.]

...You're making a keyblade?

[He looks at the half-assembled thing, finally recognizing it for what it will become, and wonders if he actually has seen the real one. Riku and Sora had transformed into keyblades, too, after all.]

[She nods.]

Yeah. When we first started learning, before we could summon our own, we'd make one like this to train with.

[She was sure she could do something better than what she'd managed as a child though.]

[ Chika almost didn't know what had hit her. First there was just the simple thing of going through morning training, getting ready to do some practice and stuff, and then she had a dog practically jumping on her.

Oops. At least it wasn't small enough to knock her down, right? ]

Oh, hey there! You're a pretty cute doggy, aren't you?

[ Chika grinned, moving down to pet the dog, hoping that it wouldn't try jumping on her again or anything like that. At least it seemed to be an excited jump instead of a "rawr I hate you go away" jump. But that still brought up a rather important question... ]

So... umm... who do you belong to?

[Aqua was listening for the sound of Lassie bothering greeting someone while she worked. The rough collie wasn't really a danger to anyone, really. So she wasn't too concerned when she heard Lassie bark. She was looking up mostly just to make sure that nothing was out of sorts.

Ah...

She set the project in her hands down on the grass beside her and stood up. To walk closer.]

Her name is Lassie. [She supplied helpfully as Lassie enjoyed the attention thoroughly, even butting her head against Chika's hand.]

[ Chika blinked, smiling even wider when she heard Aqua's voice, petting the dog even more when she butted her head against her hand. ]

Aww. That's a pretty nice name, Aqua. And she's so friendly too.

But when did you get a dog? I don't remember you having one before...

[ Of course, she had been super busy recently, so that probably explained a lot of it. And now she felt bad that she missed something so important going on with one of her friends. ]

She belonged to a friend. [It was easier to say that now without having to force herself to smile.] So I can't really take any credit for the name.

[ Chika blinks, looking over at Aqua for a few moments. Oh. That... that explains why she only found out about the puppy now. ]

I'm sorry to hear that Aqua. Are... are you doing okay?

[ After all, if Aqua was the one taking care of the dog than this friend of hers must've been pretty close to her. ]

[Which isn't bad, all things considerd, actually.]

Really?

[ That... that was news to her. And made her realize just how little she and Aqua had been doing together lately. Chika... well, she knew that she was really going to have to change that. ]

I'm... I'm sorry I didn't realize sooner. I should've been there to at least talk to you about it.

It's fine. I hadn't wanted to make a big deal out of it at the time. [Because so many people had left seemingly all at once and it had been all she could do to square her shoulders and go on as if nothing was wrong.]
