Morning Training!

Description: Training takes place every morning in the park to prepare the guests of the city for the ongoing war. It's handwaved most days, but approximately once a month this gets played out in a log. This log takes place on July 8th.

I'm fine.

[ From her tone - aside from its curtness, even - it's pretty obvious that she's not. She's exhausted by now, both mentally and physically. Back home she had her will to save certain people to drive her, but being stuck in this place and exactly being unable to do that makes her pained. ]

[Lily frowns a tad because it's obvious she's not despite her words.]

Are you sure? You look like you should at least have some water and sit for a while. ['Ridden hard and put up wet' was what they would have said back in Texas, an expression referring to horses that hadn't been properly cooled down after a ride.]

[ She knows Lily is right. It is what she needs, it's only logical, but she doesn't want to give in to it. If she has rest and water that quickly, she won't get stronger. She has to keep training, keep working, it's the only way.. it's the only thing she can do. ]

.. I have better things to do. [ She's obviously avoiding meeting the woman's gaze though. ]

[Lily notices the way the girl is avoiding her eyes, as if she doesn't want to admit there's truth to what she's saying.]

I reckon you do. But you're not going to get anything done if you pass out from the heat. Stay here and I'll get you some water, okay?

[huntressing]

[ Even that takes a moment of hesitation, but-- ] .. Fine.

[ But it's more of an "if you insist" kind of thing than anything else. Masako isn't the kind of person who likes getting help from others, after all-- it just feels like she's being pitied, and she hates that. ]

[She nods and makes her way over to the breakfast table, thinking that the shade of this girl's reminds her of Ange. Lily hoped the other witch was okay; it'd sounded like her situation back home hadn't been good so she had been concerned when she disappeared. But bringing her mind back to the task at hand, she grabs a plastic cup and pours some water from a pitcher before returning to offer it to Masako.]

Are you new around here? I don't think I've seen you before.

It depends on what you'd call "new". I've been here for a few weeks now. [ So not too long, it's probably only been about two weeks.. but to Masako it now already feels like too long when she has things waiting for her back home that aren't supposed to wait, that can't wait. ]

But I can't say I've actually brought forth the effort to socialise with people, so I don't know a lot of people.

[ Her tone implies she doesn't really care about that fact. ]

So, relatively new... [How long had it been since she first arrived? Had it really been half a year already? And that contraption always seemed to interrupt when she had supernatural trouble to take care of back home!]

I reckon I should introduce myself then. My name is Lily Ivory and I work here as the gardener.

[It sounds a bit like she might be one of those anti-social people like Lezard but it doesn't hurt to try to be friendly, right?]

.. My name is Masako Natsume. [ A little colder.. but Masako seriously has zero idea how to be social to begin with, so she's just naturally like this, more or less. ]

I work in one of the cafes here, although it's not my main priority.

[ Not mentioning it's the maid cafe for sure...... ]

Nice to meet you, Masako. [Lily hasn't had the most practice being social herself but running a shop has helped.]

Not your main priority... I take it you're particularly interested in this demon hunting business then? [Since she's here, wearing herself out at training...]

Not exactly either. .. Well, not directly, either way. I just want to somehow find a way to end this war so BREW will no longer have any reason to keep us around in this place.

[ So in other words, it's that her priority is with going home over everything else. ]

[Lily can understand that. She'd much rather not be stuck here in this anti-witch place either. And with a woman she had to rescue back in San Francisco.]

I see. Were you also in the middle of something important back home? That cotton-pickin' thing does seem to like dragging people here at the most inconvenient moments.

[huntressing]

.. That's exactly why I don't get it. [ Her tone is a little more on edge than it usually would be. Masako is good at controlling her emotions, it's why she often seems calm, but.. when it comes to this, she just really can't hold back. ]

Why aren't more people angry at being dragged into this place?! Why do they grow complacent?

I can't say exactly. But that contraption has sent me back and forth a few times and time seems to stop back home when I'm not there. It could be folks don't feel it's as urgent to get back in that case.

It's also fickle and seems to send people back randomly at times without them coming back. Maybe, some think if they wait long enough, it'll just send them back anyway.

[huntressing]

Sitting around and waiting is a risk I'm not able to take. Especially not if it's fond of sending us home only to pull us back again.. I need longer than that. [ Probably. She hopes to have her task done soon and efficiently, but honestly, she doesn't want to leave Mario's side anymore. Not now. The boy needs her now and way into the future, she doesn't have time to get in this place. ]

And I especially do not want to take the risk that my world is the only one in which time continues while we are here.

I take it you were working on something especially time sensitive then?

[She sighs as she continues. Other than needing to get Miriam's soul out of the mirror, she misses her friends.] I'd much rather be home myself but the chances don't seem that good. Some folks claim this war has been going on for hundreds of years. And I don't know if many actually have experience fighting demons.

[huntressing]

I have heard as much as well.

[ About the hunderds of years, that is - and it annoys her more than anything else. Because it makes her think about what if she's stuck here for that long, what if she grows old without being able to do the things she wants and needs to do? ]

But I don't have time to wait that long. After all, all goals might as well be time-sensitive. You'd want to complete them as soon as possible.

That's understandable but you still need to be careful. Even experienced folks have gotten badly hurt fighting those demons before and if that happened to you, it'd delay things more. Have you tried to fight any of them yet?

[huntressing]

Along with my partner I have, yes. [ Not too often since it's taking Heisuke a while to get used to the kind of Weapon she is, but still.. ] I can't say it is an easy task, but I shall deal with it if I have to. As long as I don't die, I can still fight.
