Description: Training takes place every morning in the park to prepare the guests of the city for the ongoing war. It's handwaved most days, but approximately once a month this gets played out in a log. This log takes place on May 18th.

"Mm, right. Well, thou shouldst have confidence in thy control! Those kinds of doubts art the kind that can create that weakness to such loss of control in the first place, so thou shouldst take the quiet now to heart," she said with an encouraging grin.

"Perhaps." Of course, she knew Kiriha had a point, but she still couldn't be quite as confident in matters as might be necessary. "I guess it's just strange...I got used to hearing her, you know?"

And even if she hadn't exactly enjoyed hearing Saika's thoughts, it was still a little jarring now she no longer could.

"Even things that one hates can become familiar... well, hopefully thou wilst not end up missing her for long," said the tsukumogami with a shrug. "And thou canst get more used to hearing the thoughts of thine partner! Thou shouldst look for one, now that thou knoweth thou art safe."

She nodded a little at that. "Yes, I thought about that too. I've been practicing with Amaterasu-san, though I'm still not sure how involved I want to become. But...if nothing else, I need to be able to defend myself and the people I come to care for."

And anyone else from home who might show up after her, of course.

"Ah, thou has been working with her? She's nice, isn't she?" Kiriha said with a grin, quite happy to hear the wolf was helping others as well.

She nodded in agreement with that sentiment. "Especially with the latest events, it showeth that even those not actively participating need be able to defend themselves."

"Yes, she is." And Anri was becoming more and more convinced that she'd got lucky in having the wolf find her when she first arrived in the city, even if she hadn't felt that way at the time.

She gave another nod of agreement at Kiriha's mention of recent events. "Mm...I don't want to become a burden to anyone here. That's why I need to be able to fight a little better."

"Of course. Thou shouldst try practicing partial transformation, so thou canst fight alone as well," said the tsukumogami, manifesting a length of obi up from behind her back in example. "It's not as strong as fighting with a partner, but it be better than being defenseless if thou art caught alone."

"Partial transformation?" She perked up a little at that. Even if it would be better having a partner, she had been missing the reassurance of being able to defend herself if it came down to it. "I didn't realise we could do that."

"Yea, it be a bit trickier to do well," said Kiriha with a nod. "Though I hear some students here can only partially transform before learning to fully do so, that be more of an accident. Thou must learn to control it for it to be useful - after all, I doubt turning thine head into a blade or thine foot into a handle would be much use."

"Yes, you're right." Though she couldn't help but wonder if Saika having been part of her before would help - given that she was used to producing the sword from within her own arm anyway, would that be enough to somehow make it easier? "Maybe I'll look into that sometime."

"Especially if thou art a katana, the difference between being able to do that and going unarmed is quite large," the tsukumogami noted.

"Hast thou had any other worries since then?"

"Yes, I suppose it would be." And she was all the more resolved, now, to go through with it.

"Not really...things seem to be settling down now, at least. Compared to what they were, I mean."

[obimycommands]

"Certainly true, with that situation resolved... though it bothereth me that the ones behind it are still at large," she grumbled, the length of obi she had out idly rolling up at the end and waving like a fist. Kiriha obviously had some opinions on what to do with such people.

"I suppose it would have been too easy for them to be caught now." She was used enough to gang culture in Ikebukuro to know that just because there was a lull, didn't mean tension wouldn't rise - and that the ones truly holding the strings tended to conceal themselves all the better.

"I wouldn't mind easy," Kiriha grumbled. "At the least, if we could know their motives..."

"They seemed clear enough to me." Granted, there was a lot of background information Anri still wasn't party to, but the fact they'd seen fit to target her on her first day still played at the back of her mind. "They don't want us here and they think if they show it enough, somehow we'll be sent away."

"But is that really just it?" wondered the tsukumogami aloud. She couldn't help but wonder if there wasn't some further motive...

"What else could it be?" She was all set to be corrected by someone who'd been around longer, after all.

[obimycommands]

"Helping to turn the citizens against us and further worsen relationships would be of great help to our enemies, would it not?" Kiriha suggested, a suspicion she'd had from the start of the whole thing.

"I suppose it would, yes." And it wasn't like she didn't know of someone back home who would take delight in turning factions against each other for his own entertainment, let alone to gain some form of advantage in such a large-scale war.

[obimycommands]

"So I can't help but suspect that they might have goaded them to go to such extremes," concluded the tsukumogami. "Well, perhaps I just do not wish to believe we are truly so hated here."

"They? You mean the...Witches, right?" At least that was what she could recall of what she'd been told of the war before.

"Yes, the ones we're fighting... though honestly, since coming here I've yet to hear much activity from them," she said with a shrug.

"How long have you been here?" Anri hadn't seen much sign of them herself either, but she was also quite aware of just how very new she was to the place.

"I arrived last month," she replied. Almost exactly a month ago, now that she thought of it. "So I suppose it not be too strange that I've not seen them yet, but still..."
