Description: Training takes place every morning in the park to prepare the guests of the city for the ongoing war. It's handwaved most days, but approximately once a month this gets played out in a log. This log takes place on May 18th.

Shooting Range

[Caution: do not walk in front of the things with the targets painted on them]

[Can't keep her down too long. Naoto's already back to instruct and watch the shooting range, pacing and occasionally sitting. Her stomach still aches, but the wound itself is mostly healed over, allowing her to transform for short periods of time.]

[Have any questions? Do not hesitate to ask. Bother her and there might be someone else to answer to instead. As for middle ground, it seems like she can be approached for conversation.]

[He was glad she was taking breaks, at least. During one sitting break, he stops behind and lowers an iced latte courtesy of one C.A. Cupid into the detective's field of vision.]

[At Kanji's voice, her eyes open and she's surprised to see the cold beverage before her. Taking hold of it, she blinks and glances back]

An iced latte?

Yup. I had one earlier; it ain't too sweet.

[He leaned and rest his elbows on the back of the chair and looked down at her after a quick glance left then right. Nobody ogling? Good. He'll sneak a peck to her temple, then glance away with a rather warm face.]

'Bout damn time I'm seein' people hit the grindstone as hard as they should around here... but there's a dude playin' dodgeball with whoever he can bean with a ball.

[A small grin.]

That's a kinda training, right? Dodge a ball, dodge a kishin egg.

[Considering this, she looks back at the iced latte. She had never considered getting one since they were sweet, but if this was semi-sweet, she guessed it wouldn't hurt.]

[Bringing it to her lips, she starts at the kiss, shooting her head in Kanji's direction. They shouldn't do that in public; he knows that... maybe he had looked around already? Glancing herself, it didn't seem like anyone was looking in their direction. Hm... very well; he got off the hook this time.]

[Taking a sip quietly, Naoto nods, eyes trained on her 'students'. It had been a strange period with no morning training. Nothing else could be done though while people had been in an uproar. Curious how it all settled down as soon as they were saved actually...]

... Dodgeball? ... Yes, there's no real harm should someone be hit.

[You are most merciful, Sensei.]

Heheh... you ever played dodgeball, Naoto? It's a damn bloodsport. That ball stings like hell.

Better that it stings and causes superficial injuries.

[She pauses and looks away] No, I haven't.

[A cant of his head and a shrug.]

D-don't worry about it. PE ain't ever all that great anyway. If ya managed to skip it in middle school, you're pretty damn lucky.

I was... I-I was better at Home Ec n' Art, anyway. Always passed those ones.

[ Re-l, as per usual, is quiet and focused as she shoots at the targets, emptying a clip and then reloading. If she and Vincent were going to go on any missions soon, she might as well keep herself sharp. Plus, let's face it, it was a good way to just blow off steam.

Feel free to approach her and talk, if you'd like, or ask her for advice if you ... might not mind a little bit of condescending assumption from time to time. She's not an instructor, but she is an experienced markswoman. ]

[Seeing as how guns were rather bad news for him back home; Dwight was rather out of practice with fire arms. The irony of him actually being a fire arm is going to be ignored for now.

He stood off to the side, watching the others and trying not to run away on instinct. After a moment he let out a breath and ran a hand through his hand.]

So...we've got real weapons around here too?

Why wouldn't we? [ Re-l turns to take in whoever she's talking to after she's finished her clip of bullets, ejecting the magazine and looking to load another one. ]

It would be exhausting for weapons to have to be used at all times.

I don't see too many of 'em out in the street. At least things like swords or...guns.

Most weapons like that are confined to members of the Watch or other 'law enforcement' types. You can talk to Neji, if you'd like that sort of thing. [ She lets the gun drop to her side as she turns to more properly look at him and have a conversation, pushing a stray hair back and away from her face. ]

Or you can get yourself a partner who's a gun, of course.

[His face doesn't give away the displeasure at hearing that bit of news. One group of people wielding fire power makes him uncomfortable.]

Well, see, in this whole meister/weapon business.

[He gestures at himself.]

I'm the gun.

Hm, sounds like my partner. [ Since Vincent had arrived, and had been shown to be in the weapon form of the rifle she liked most in the world they were from, well... it was a no brainer. ]

He's around here, somewhere. If you want to get in some practice shooting, though, they welcome you to use one of the guns available to shoot with.

Oh? Nice to know I'm not the only gun guy around here.

[He hadn't really thought about the likely hood of there being other gunlike weapons. It was...well, it was still weird to even think about being a gun weapon.]

...it's been a while, but, I should take advantage of a few things.

[ Mister Maxwell, reporting for duty! The braided teen has his braid pinned up on his head today, a trick he'd learned while he'd been in the desert with Quatre. Occasionally he'll take to shooting, but for the moment he's more content to stand back and watch, occasionally offering advice when he notices someone struggling or is asked.

Mostly, he likes people to learn for themselves. ]

[Giroro was hardly struggling. In fact, he was doing the opposite, managing to hit the bullseye every time (it was why he volunteered to help). Really this place needed something more challenging.]

They could use some moving targets here, huh? [ Duo had thought that to himself a good many times, shooting at the stationary targets. ]

It's not really efficient training for shooting something moving.

Hn. I thought of trying to set up some. [Using ropes and pulleys.

He fired off the last two shots before lowering the gun.] But then things got really crazy around here.

Then why not do it now that it's calmed down? I can help you work out machinery stuff, in between Black Mesa work! [ Plus, it'd just be fun! ]

Would you be able to get the machine parts? [Because he could totally work with that. It just never factored into his plans because he didn't have the budget for it.]

I was a scrapper back home, I've got this under control. Besides, moving systems like this aren't that hard to do.

[One of your instructors is a two feet tall alien, who has a very sink-or-swim style of teaching.

He is currently standing on the part that acts as a barrier for the people shooting. If you watch him empty a clip you'll notice that he hits his mark every time.
