Description: Training takes place every morning in the park to prepare the guests of the city for the ongoing war. It's handwaved most days, but approximately once a month this gets played out in a log. This log takes place on May 18th.

There might be shops looking for salespeople, too. I sort of wanted to hire another clerk but with slow sales at the shop lately I doubt I can afford it right now. Nothing seems to pay nearly as well as demon hunting though. [She had been stuck going out on missions sometimes to meet her expenses at the shop.]

And certainly, it seemeth to be the most productive and interesting job. [The idea of the danger involved doesn't really cross her mind]

But those demons are dangerous. You might end up fighting something over two or three times taller than you!

[Even if Kiriha said she had fought demon-like creatures back home, Lily wasn't sure if she should encourage her when she looked so young in human form.]

Hmhm, I'm used to taking down such monsters! Their size meaneth little to me!

Still, it's not something to charge into recklessly! And those folks at the school wouldn't let you go without a partner.

I know; it's a real pain... but I wouldn't plan on taking on anything too dangerous without a partner anyway...

[Just another reason she needed to find one. Amaterasu was great to work with, but the goddess was helpful and popular... she wanted someone she could monopolize.]

[Despite last night, she was having second thoughts about Lezard and contemplating finding some way to get out of their agreement.]

No one on a particularly permanent basis yet.

Ah, no, we get along quite well actually! But, hmm... I would feel bad to take all of her time. [Monopolizing the goddess Amaterasu herself was...] And... hmm, it be hard to describe, but it doesn't quite fit.

Oh, why is that? Is she usually busy with other work? [Lily wonders if it's anyone she knows.]

Doesn't quite fit... Like the resonance seems weaker than it should be? [That had happened when she tried a mission with Bakura. They still got the zombies but it was harder than it should have been for relatively easy targets.]

Yea, and partnering with or helping out others. [Something Kiriha would be a lot more twisted up about if it weren't, well, Amaterasu]

Not exactly? We actually work well together, but... it's not the same as when I am with Kazuya. So I'm still looking for someone with whom I get that same feeling.

So, she doesn't have a regular partner either? Who is it, if you don't mind my asking?

Maybe, you just need more time? I reckon not many have fought with an obi before. [Actually, she doubts anyone had before.]

The goddess, Amaterasu.

[She thinks it over. It's true, they haven't been in real combat before but it's not really the fighting that concerns her]

Goddess? You don't mean that wolf, do you? [She gapes a bit and there's a few surprised blinks. Lezard had told her the wolf's name was Amaterasu but... a goddess?]

Then what is it?

Mm, that's right. She's quite nice! [And fluffy]

Hmm, I suppose it be this "resonance" they talk about here. We connect well enough to get along, but I'm not sure we really resonate strongly. I suppose, in part, it's still a bit intimidating to work with the divine goddess Amaterasu herself.

[And more gaping.] That white wolf with the strange markings? The one I was trying to chase out of the flowerbeds? It's really a goddess?!

[Lily knew there was something unusual about that wolf but this was unexpected!]

Yea, that be her. She's the great goddess Amaterasu-sama, divinity of the sun and one of the most powerful deities in all of Japan.

So, she's a Japanese sun goddess? But why is she a wolf?

[Lily knew the Ancient Egyptians were fond of representing their gods as animals but she little inkling of what Japanese gods were supposed to be like.]

That... I can't say I have any idea.

[Yeah, she doesn't know either]

Then, a wolf isn't how she's normally represented? Are you sure she's really that goddess then?

[Although if that wolf really is a sun goddess, it would kind of make sense how Lezard said she was able to use his light magic.]

Ah, well... [Kiriha hadn't much considered it before] She seemeth to be so?

Hmm. Did she tell you she's a goddess or did you just make the connection because of the name? Lez—um, someone else that worked with her before never mentioned the goddess part to me.

[But napping wolves aside...] Is there anyone else you've tried working with so far?

I concluded as much from her name, and she confirmed it.

Not any that I've partnered with quite yet, at least for any length of time.

I see. [She'd have to try asking about it next time she saw that wolf.]

Well, if you haven't found many folks you can work with yet, do you think we could try? [She'd brought up the idea the previous time they talked but then they'd gotten sidetracked by that annoying book and what the heck tsundere meant! And she was still sort of intrigued by the idea that someone here could turn into an obi.]
