Description: Training takes place every morning in the park to prepare the guests of the city for the ongoing war. It's handwaved most days, but approximately once a month this gets played out in a log. This log takes place on May 18th.

Well, I'm willing to try. And I've been on a few more missions since the last time we talked. [She wasn't sure if she wanted to take Kiriha out to fight anything as dangerous as the trolls from a few days earlier though! Those massive beasts had made the ground shake when they were knocked over.]

So, exactly how does your obi form work when you have a partner? [She was sort of picturing holding the obi and swinging the ends around.]

Well... basically, I function as an extension of thine will, taking the form that thou imagines. Perhaps it would be easier to show thee?

[Lily nods in agreement.] I reckon a demonstration would be easier.

[She tucks her pen and notepad into a pocket of her gardening apron and holds a hand out.]

[Kiriha grins and takes that hand, disappearing in a puff of smoke as she transforms into an obi, snaking out and wrapping around her forearm to hang from it loosely]

This tends to be the easiest way to wield me for combat purposes.

[Lily watches curiously as the obi wraps around her arm. It's not the first time she's 'worn' a Weapon—Lezard has used his bookmark to loop over her shoulder and hang like a purse before—but it's somewhat different than what she's used to. And heavier than she would expect from cloth.]

Okay. Now what?

[She tentatively reaches out with her soul's energy, trying to make a connection. There's a strong protectiveness there but also some loneliness and insecurity. And a guarded feeling, that perhaps she's not being completely open.]

[Kiriha's considerably more open about connecting, being used to this sort of connection]

Well, first I suppose get a feel for the obi and try to extend it by thine will. [Well, technically Kiriha could probably do that much by herself, but that wasn't the point]

[After a few more moments, Lily manages to make the link but that guarded feeling is still there.]

Okay. [She moves her arm back and forth slowly, getting used to the weight of the fabric wrapped around it. After a minute or so, she fixes her eyes on one end of the obi and visualizes it rising into the air and it starts to move upwards.]

Like this?

[And then the obi almost hits her in the face, breaking her concentration and causing it to fall again. Oops! This might take a little getting used to...]

[Kiriha does her best not to laugh, but no doubt Lily can tell her amusement]

Try to envision where thou wanteth it to go as much as the act of getting there.

Um, right.

[Trying to get her cheeks to stop burning, Lily makes another attempt, this time sending the fabric away from her. It's a bit wobbly but she gets the end of the obi to stretch out about a yard in front of her.]

How's this?

Good, good. Now keep in mind what this is like. Thou hast to treat me as an extension of thine own will. Of course, I'll be helping thou out as well, but much of moving and directing will be under thine control.

Okay.

[For a witch whose magic was about focusing one's intentions, it isn't too difficult a concept to grasp. But telekinesis hadn't been a skill she practiced regularly back home so the movements are still a little shaky although not as much as she directs the obi to the left and then the right.]

Any other advice? And how does this work for actually fighting a demon? [Was she supposed to just slap targets with the obi? Or did it require forming shapes like the ones Kiriha had shown her last time?]

Well, once thou mastereth manipulating the obi, it can be used to grab or hit by rolling up the end. [Her material was surprisingly strong] But the real strength be in learning the various weaves.

Rolling up the end? Sort of like the equivalent of making a fist?

[Lily tries it, imagining the end of the obi coiling up as if it were one of the vintage neckties she kept neatly rolled up in a basket at the shop. She supposes she should stick with the basics for now.]

Yea, exactly so!

[And the end of the obi rolls up accordingly into a decently sized ball]

Try swinging it.

[Tentatively, Lily swings around the ball of fabric a bit, not too forcefully.]

Doesn't it hurt if you hit something though? [Neither of the Weapons she had used before were meant for physically hitting things so she wasn't sure about this point.]

Not particularly, unless thou hitteth something that damageth the fabric - and I'm sturdier than most.

Though this be the easiest way to wield me, mine power is in the various weaves.

Do you not feel much in this form then? [Maybe because fabric was usually inanimate?]

[And she's still swinging around the obi, getting used to it although she doesn't try to hit anything yet.]

Are the weaves difficult to learn? What's the easiest one?

I do feel, but pain is not as direct as it would be in mine human form - or else I'd hardly make a good weapon, would I?

Probably the Spiral Weave or Shield Weave. They have the widest application anyway.

I guess you have a point. But warn me if I'm accidentally hurting you, okay?

[Shield Weave sounds pretty explanatory but...] What's the Spiral Weave and how does it work?

Believe me, thou wouldst be the first to know if I were being used improperly.

[She waves the end of the obi a bit in a spiraling motion]

It be like a drill - curl the length of the obi into that shape.

Like a drill? Can you actually pierce through things like that? [She sounds uncertain as she tries to imitate that spiraling movement. Even if Kiriha's Weapon form was tougher than ordinary cloth, it still wouldn't be sharp enough to cut through things, right?]

Of course! Well, not things like metal, and stone be a tough one, but against most foes it be dangerous enough.

[Kiriha guides the obi into a drill-shape more or less. She might have to just show Lily what to do first though]

Really? One doesn't generally think of fabric as being sharp.

[In her mind, Lily tries to imitate what Kiriha is doing but the obi starts to resemble a curly noodle more than the intended drill shape.]

[Sheepishly] I think I need some help with this...

Hmm, perhaps I should show thee first...

[With a poof, she disappears from Lily's arm and reappears as a person before her, two lengths of obi coming from her back. She easily curls them into the drill forms]

[Kiriha makes it look easy and it helps to have a visual reference but...]

Is there a trick for the process of curling them like that or do I just imagine how it should look in the end?
