Description: Training takes place every morning in the park to prepare the guests of the city for the ongoing war. It's handwaved most days, but approximately once a month this gets played out in a log. This log takes place on May 18th.

Ah! That's super good luck! I actually showed up here at the same time as my best friend, how ridiculous is that? [Laughs.]

Is your friend your meister then? [These are good conclusions to leap to, of course.]

[At least this particular topic seems to have softened up Shinji's defenses a little bit!]

It was really lucky... [There's a genuine tone of sincerity in that statement.] He is a Meister, and we've resonated a couple of times.

Wow, that's great! I really think friends are the best ones for... something as weird as this. [Not that he has any right to call anything weird, but...] My friends have always seen me through the worst times! [He's still trying to small-talk, okay? He's just really awful at it.]

[Shinji seems pretty reluctant to pursue that second comment, falling silent for a moment or two before speaking up again.]

It seems like there are a lot of really nice people here, though.

Yeah, most of the people do seem pretty nice... [Long pause.] I'll be honest, though. I haven't been making much effort to make friends with anyone around here. Johan's been pestering me to try harder, so...

That's why I'm talking to you! [That's sure to make him feel good about himself, yep.]

[He can't help but think there are plenty of other people around who would be far more interesting to talk with.]

Johan's your friend from home...?

[Yeah, but you're the one who caught his eye, sorry Shinji.]

Huh? Oh, yeah! He's my best friend. [Grin.] You should say hi to him if you see him around. He's pretty easy to spot. [Gestures to his hair.] His hair's teal. [YEAH, THAT'S RIGHT. HE CAN POINT OUT MORE THAN THAT JOHAN WEARS PURPLE CLOTHES NOW.]

I'll.. be sure to do that. [Maybe. No guarantees, Judai.]

[With a laugh, Judai flops back to lie down in the grass.]

I gotta admit, it's actually pretty nice being here. It's warm, I have food and a bed, and while I miss traveling, it's actually really nice to stay in one place for a little bit.

[He looks over at Shinji.] You ever traveled at all?

[hedgehogsdilemma]

Not really, I never had much of an opportunity.

[What with all the school, training, and tests and whatnot.]

[kuriboh_boy]

Oh, man. Bummer. You really should if you get the chance. Venice is pretty great. [Pause.] Um, when it's not getting destroyed, but whatever. [He waves a hand dismissively.]

[hedgehogsdilemma]

[... Okaayy? That's kind of weird to just mention off-handedly?]

Getting... destroyed?

[kuriboh_boy]

Oh, yeah. There's was this guy, Paradox, from the future. He chased me around Venice with a dragon and it destroyed most of the city. But it's okay because we went back in time and stopped him. [He laughs.] Time travel...

[Haha okay Judai Shinji's officially going to label you 'strange' in his mind. But hey at least you don't seem like a bad person, your world just sounds kind of... odd.]

Is... stuff like that normal in your world?

[Judai makes a face and shakes his head.]

No, not really. I just kind of... attract weird things, I guess! [He won't mention that it's probably because he's the King of the Dark World. Whatever.] But hey, it made it a lot easier for me to handle this whole change than if I hadn't time traveled before!

[hedgehogsdilemma]

[Calling something like that 'weird' seemed to be putting it lightly, but Shinji isn't really in much of a position to argue.]

I guess that's one way of looking at it positively.

[Hey, it's less weird than fusing his soul with a half-dragon, so y'know... perspective, man.]

Hehe. Exactly! Y'gotta take the positive approach or life will just pull you down. That's what I've learned, anyway!

[He doesn't know about that! Just hearing someone so casually talk about time travel is strange enough, okay? :c

As for Judai's statement, Shinji gives a noncommittal hum in response. That philosophy, he feels, is far easier said than done in a lot of cases. Saying as much would probably invite unwanted questions, though, so he isn't about to bring it up.]

Oh, right, because Johan was getting on his case and this was the first person to catch his eye. Got it.]

You really are super quiet, aren't you? [Whoops, there goes his bluntness, sorry.]

[Erg, that kind of comment is enough to make him raise his guard a little.]
