Description: Training takes place every morning in the park to prepare the guests of the city for the ongoing war. It's handwaved most days, but approximately once a month this gets played out in a log. This log takes place on May 18th.

[The polite bow was one returned.]

Good morning, Mr. Edgeworth.

[But there was a glint in those glasses when she seized the frames between two fingers. She'd been here all morning, and he chose now to approach. It didn't take a stretch of imagination to work out his intent.]

I've actually been expecting you.

[prosecutory]

I'm not surprised; you would want to check on my progress, would you not?

[His smile is a calm, formal one - not at all like the smile of an eager beaver or a nervous expression. It was almost as if this was standard operating procedure.]

Absolutely. I'd hate to see if you've been taking any steps backward in my absence.

[She knew she wouldn't be disappointed, but what good was simply presuming when she could see for herself? Azusa took but three steps backward and seemingly relaxed her stance, dipping into a bow; what better time to start than now?]

[prosecutory]

I assure you, I have done no such thing. And even if I did, Genesis would be quick to correct me.

[He likewise steps back as well, and bows, mentally bracing himself as the sparring begins with the usual show of respect toward one's opponent. And Edgeworth had a very healthy amount of respect for Azusa.]

[And hers was that of a teacher for a favored student. Azusa's strikes were as relentless as ever; she never truly pulled her punches. Her focus was remaining in close range; even if Edgeworth had a side advantage, she would aim to use that size against him.

Yet despite the relentlessness, she noticed she had to plan her moves a little more than before, play things a little defensively now and again. Miles Edgeworth had been practicing... she wondered how much of it was due to his partner's corrections. Regardless, she needed to offer her gratitude at a later time.]

[Edgeworth moves as soon as Azusa does, blocking, dodging, occasionally countering. He feels faster and stronger than before, and somehow, his mind almost - almost - seems to have been wired to watch for every possibility in this sparring session.

Like Azusa, nowadays Edgeworth finds himself attacking with more precision and strategy. He was a strategic person by nature, true, but it was another story entirely to apply it in a fight. To be able to keep up. To figure out how Azusa would strike next and then figure out a way to counter it in the same breath. However, there is still much he needs to learn, and so occasionally he will get hit or struck when he least expects it, but would keep going.]

[Yet she said nothing quite yet, save for the occasional kiai before her full-strength strikes. She was never one to pull her punches, lest someone here might think she'd gone soft.

But she weaved, impressed that Edgeworth's moves were driving her a little more defensively. With more time and practice, she very well may be on the run for her money. He had size advantage, but it meant there was a lot more to strike. It didn't, however, mean that she couldn't move in for the throw as she did. A right feint, a quick study of the Meister's balance, and she moved in.]

[Edgeworth is mostly quiet; shouting for show or effect or even out of habit during a sparring match was never his style, although he was more likely to yell in a real battle or when he was caught completely off-guard. He preferred to channel all his concentration into moving.

However, size was sometimes also a disadvantage. Edgeworth was taller and had quarterback shoulders, sure, but that meant Azusa could weave past him. When she does move in, he hurriedly prepares to counter, having seen through the feint, but once he does, it's too late.]

[She goes for the throw, bearing the strength of someone who'd had years practicing the technique, even on opponents with quarterback shoulders. Per usual, she wasn't all too gentle with the maneuver either, but she knew he could handle it. Had she a weapon, she would have pointed it toward a vulnerable spot, but as it stood she had all that she needed for her analysis.

Lo and behold, there was a very rare, albeit small smile.]

...Hm. You've improved.

Gnnnrgh - !

[And Edgeworth grits his teeth as he is thrown, and hits the ground. Although by this time it is to be expected, it still hurts and he's sure he won't ever get used to the pain. At least he recovers quickly, and sits up, rubbing the sore spots where he landed and breathing hard. His hair is a bit of a mess, and his clothes are rumpled, but at this point, those aren't important.]

[prosecutory]

[But when Azusa smiles, he can't help but smile - or rather, smirk back as he gets back onto his feet and brushes himself off.]

Thank you, Miss Azusa.

[Edgeworth does feel that he has improved, so that makes two of them.]
