Description: Training takes place every morning in the park to prepare the guests of the city for the ongoing war. It's handwaved most days, but approximately once a month this gets played out in a log. This log takes place on May 18th.

[He nods, and then doesn't even try to hide a smile.]

BREW just brought my best friend here--he's a knife.

Ahh, I see where you're going with this. Thinking about being partners?

[tauborn]

[He backpedals away from that idea. Even though Sugata had mentioned it already, Takuto still isn't sure if partnering up with anyone is something he has in mind. So he shakes his head.]

I just want to be able to wield him properly.

A good idea. Get yourself a practice weapon and let's get started.

[tauborn]

[He searches for a practice weapon that's about the length of a transformed Sugata. It... takes him a little while since most of the available weapons are considerably longer. But when he finds a dulled knife, he takes it immediately and then picks up a longer wooden sword as well. In a moment he's trotting back over to Auron.]

Okay! Ready!

The thing to remember most of all is your range. A knife can beat a sword if you're skilled enough but it sacrifices defense at the same time. So you better be quick.

[He nods. It's a good thing he's quick.]

Alright. So, is it better to try to cut or to try to stab?

You can do both but stabbing is better if you can pull it off. *And there goes Professor Auron, teaching and going on to his wide-eyed student*

[He practices stabbing the air directly in front of him. It just... feels weird. His style with swords doesn't really have stabbing. At all.]

Hm.

[He switches the sword and the knife, trying to see if one hand is perhaps better than the other at stabbing. Unfortunately, no. It's pretty much the same level of not-very-good.]

I feel like I'm doing something wrong.

You can cut but because of the shortness of the blade, you're not going to inflict as much damage.

Hmm. [He mimes slicing, but the movement looks equally silly to him. He gives Auron a wry smile.]

You know, I think I had a feeling that using a knife would be easier than a sword but that's definitely not the case.

It can be an effective weapon but you're going to need the training. *he smiled just a little bit* If you're not up for it...

Oh, I'm definitely up for it!

[He can tell Auron's just trying to make it a challenge but he doesn't care because he likes rising to challenges.]

Then take your practice knife and start practicing high, middle and low slices 100 times each.

[tauborn]

[This can't be any worse than the 500 vertical strikes he had to practice with each hand every day for Kaoru. And getting into a training regimen like this would be good for him, so he grins, and starts slicing high.]
