Description: Training takes place every morning in the park to prepare the guests of the city for the ongoing war. It's handwaved most days, but approximately once a month this gets played out in a log. This log takes place on April 24th.

[She nods.] I'm a vintage clothes dealer. I have a shop back in San Francisco and just opened one here. But I sell mainly Western clothes. [Once in a while she might come across an old kimono somewhere but that was about it.]

Oh, I see. That's in America, isn't it? I can't say I know much about tsukumogami there or whether there even are any.

That's right, in California. I'd only been there a few months but never met any of these tsukumogami. Never saw any while I was traveling either. [Her pronunciation of the foreign term is a bit closer this time but still sounds strange with her twang.]

Oh, and my name is Lily, by the way.

Hmm... perhaps it is a difference of worlds, like this one. [Considering they were supposedly in America right now...]

Maybe...[She wondered if there were any other Weapons here which turned into articles of clothing. The possibility hadn't even occurred to her before.]

Nice to meet you, Kiriha. Would you mind showing me what you look like as an obi? [She was a vintage clothes dealer after all and curious.]

[She grins proudly before turning into an obi, nicely folded up]

Just wondering, what's Kiriha's color scheme as an obi?

[So, the girl really did turn into an obi... It looked like an old one, too. Lily was tempted to reach out and touch the fabric—would she sense anything with her sensitivity to the vibrations of old clothes?—but refrained for the moment.]

That's a pretty pattern. What year are you from, anyway? [Knowing nothing about fashions in kimonos, she can't even attempt to guess a decade.]

Ho, hmm... you know, I'm not sure. After all, mine earliest years, I was naught but a normal obi, with no conscious mind at all. But most likely from at least three to four decades ago.... around Showa 50, I suppose?

Three or four decades ago... You mean the 1970s or 1980s? [She's not really sure what Showa 50 translated to.]

It looks like you were well cared for. [She ran a single finger along the fabric's surface, tracing the outline of one of the blue blossoms, wondering if it would give off the same type of vibrations normal clothes did. She had never had a chance to experiment with a garment Weapon so she wasn't sure. Of course, any reading would have been stronger if she picked up the obi and hugged it to her chest for a minute but that would have been rather awkward, considering it was a person! Sort of.]

Can Kiriha tell at all she's being read?

[Actually, considering Kiriha thought of herself as an obi, she would have found being picked up and hugged that way perfectly normal... which was why she didn't see anything wrong with sleeping with her previous partner, since he'd always slept with her as an obi anyway.

There's some sense of her more recent memories; partnering with Kazuya, the young boy, fighting various amasogi like the dream shadow amasogi that had mirrored them or the running shoes amasogi. As well as moments of more mundane ridiculousness.]

Back from hiatus. Sorry this is so overdue! We can handwave the rest if it's been too long for you.

Huh. I would have guessed you were from an earlier era from the way you spoke.

[There seemed to be something but Lily couldn't quite grasp it yet. She carefully picked up the obi with both hands, feeling the weave of the fabric with her fingertips and trying to sense its history. A bit of it seemed like the normal mundane type of vibrations that most most clothes carried after a while but there was something else too...] So, what was the person you belonged to like?

[OOC: Sorry it took so long to get back to this! I've been back a few days but slow to catch up because I'm still getting over a cold. If it's been too long for you, let me know and we can discuss what happened and handwave.

Anyway, it's up to you whether you want Kiriha to realize something odd is going on. When Lily tries to read people's auras or vibrations in canon, they can't tell and the few people whose clothes she has read in game haven't realized either. But she's never encountered sentient clothes before. So, I don't have a precedent for this particular situation and things could turn out differently. (I sort of think it might possibly turn into a resonance attempt instead since Kiriha's a Weapon. And if that's the case, she's free to reject Lily if she doesn't like her trying to pry. Bad resonance can result in the Weapon being too heavy to lift or being hot to the touch with burns possible in extreme cases so she would pull her hands away quickly if that happens.)

And Lily's ability to read clothes is more for things like personality traits and moods than specific memories. Like she might sense a lot of grief from a garment and surmise that the owner had gone though a lot of sorrow but she wouldn't know exactly what happened to cause those emotions. So, she wouldn't pick up on the exact memories but might sense the associated moods.]

Kazuya is an honest boy, a bit too much sometimes. Truly a fool. [It's far too clear though just how fond she is of him. For all she might berate and abuse him, she does truly like him and feels grateful to be his.

For now she doesn't notice anything amiss, reminiscing about Kazuya - she has no secrets about him. If the subject turned to Kanaka before him though...]

I take it he's a bit naive then. [She sounded like she liked him though.]

[Closing her eyes and concentrating on the obi, Lily tried to probe a bit deeper. She thought she felt something although she couldn't quite name it yet.]

But if your owner is still young and you're from a few decades ago, does that mean you belonged to someone else before?

[That question though makes her pause, and likely she can feel her mind starting to shut her out. Those memories were...]

[It was strange. Clothes were normally an easy read for Lily but she felt like she was starting to come up against a wall. And was it just her imagination or did the fabric feel a bit heavier in her hands?]

[Her eyes opened and she blinked in surprise.] An exorcist? ...As in some kind of priest who casts out spirits and demons? [Lily had found herself doing a bit of that back in San Francisco.]

Mm, more or less. It be the job Kazuya and I have now. Mostly it be facing off amasogi - those evil tsukumogami I mentioned before.

[Her emotions lighten as the conversation heads in a more general direction]

[She gave up on trying to sense the obi's vibrations for the moment and noticed it seemed lighter now. Was the heaviness before only in her mind?]

So, you regularly work exorcising these amasogi things? But isn't your owner a bit young for that? [Kiriha called him a boy so presumably he was a teenager at most.]

And how does that work exactly? [Fighting demons with an obi?]

Mm, it not be a burden I would have chosen to thrust upon him at such an age, but there was little choice. And he has risen to the cause admirably. [Not that she'd ever admit it to his face]

Hmm, well first we have to find irregularities in the world caused by them. Sometimes they be obvious incidents, like disappearing people, but other times they art more subtle, so tracking down things like rumors or urban legends can lead to such oddities. Then it be a matter of finding out what sort of amasogi it be, its powers, and its true form.

Ideally, the amasogi's owner shouldst be the one to put an end to it, but if it cometh down to it, we may have to destroy it ourselves. In that case though, the owner suffereth the curse backlash of the broken item.

But wasn't there anyone else who could do it? You said your previous owner was an exorcist, too.

So, you're kind of like paranormal detectives? [In a way, it didn't sound too different from investigating demons back home.]

[And she grimaced at the end of Kiriha's explanation.] That doesn't sound pleasant. But you mean that regular folks can destroy these amasogi too? Then, do they just not realize that those things have come come to life?

She passed away.

[A surprisingly short answer.]

Something to that effect, yes.

Hmm, it be a bit harder for normal folk to fight them, though the owner usually hath a special connection to it and control over it, and thus the ability to put an end to it. Incidents art rare in this day and age, or at least they should be, so most people never hear about them.

Oh. I'm sorry. [Now she felt a bit insensitive for asking.]

I see. Do they take on human forms like you do? I take it that there are more of these critters around than you'd like. Do most people not believe in amasogi then, think that they're just fairy tales?

Mm, it was years ago. [Though if she tries to probe Kiriha's feelings on the matter, she will encounter a brick wall]

Hmm, amasogi art more liken unto animals, taking bestial or monstrous form if they manifest beyond their actual body at all. Often they art not more than the item, given special powers, with little intelligence. Tsugumomo however, take human form like I.

For the most part, they do regard them to be but fairy tales.

[Lily supposed she should leave the topic of Kiriha's previous owner for now.]

I see. [It sounded like how most people thought of supernatural creatures in her own world.]

But how exactly would you fight these creatures? With chants and things like that? [That was basically what she did for exorcisms—well, that and brewing and magic circles—but she couldn't really picture how an obi would help in the situation.]

Chants? I suppose there might be some who practice onmyoudo but...

We just beat them up. [to put it bluntly]
