Description: Training takes place every morning in the park to prepare the guests of the city for the ongoing war. It's handwaved most days, but approximately once a month this gets played out in a log. This log takes place on April 24th.

[Lily supposed she should leave the topic of Kiriha's previous owner for now.]

I see. [It sounded like how most people thought of supernatural creatures in her own world.]

But how exactly would you fight these creatures? With chants and things like that? [That was basically what she did for exorcisms—well, that and brewing and magic circles—but she couldn't really picture how an obi would help in the situation.]

Chants? I suppose there might be some who practice onmyoudo but...

We just beat them up. [to put it bluntly]

Onmyoudo? What's that? [Her memory was usually good but she was starting to think she wasn't going to remember all of these foreign terms.]

You physically fight them? In human form or as an obi? [Short of strangling demons with the obi, she wasn't sure how the latter would work.]

Oh, ancient magic rites and such associated with the Shinto. I can't say I personally know any practitioners though.

As an obi, I be wielded by my partner - though I can fight hand-to-hand as well, and wield mineself to an extent.

[Deciding this was as good a reason as any, she slid out of Lily's hands an resumed her human form, executing a little flip before landing on her feet. As she did, two lengths of obi came from behind her back, like arms, hovering over her shoulders]

[Lily leaned back a bit and blinked in surprise at this bit of acrobatics and the new form Kiriha took. A partial transformation by a Weapon was something she hadn't previously seen and she studied the lengths of obi with curiosity.]

Huh. I never knew some Weapons could wield themselves. But exactly how would your partner wield you? Are there magical properties to your fabric that help? [Because she can't really imagine beating a demon into submission with a normal piece of fabric, even if it was the heaviest denim.]

Well, by mine partner's will, I can be moved much like this, but with far greater power and accuracy - well, once we've practiced. [She waved about her obi lengths in example, moving them around, balling up the ends, or scrunching them up.] 'tis much stronger than normal fabric, of course. And I can be used in a variety of weaves.

[Maneuvering the two branches, she demonstrated by twisting them together into a large conical drill shape, then changing that into a perpendicular weave forming a decent-sized barrier.]

Whoa! [Lily scooted back as the obi portions twisted into the drill shape and then the barrier.]

And you can do all of this just by concentrating? Is it difficult? [She watched, fascinated by the moving fabric and wondered if she would be able to wield the obi. She had been able to animate the inanimate back home but usually not in such a controlled manner...]

It be second nature to me by now, but it certainly taketh a bit of practice for those who wield me. And I can't do some of the more complex form by mine own power. A trusted partner is important for that!

You can make even more complicated shapes with a partner? Do you think I could learn? [Maybe, if she could find someone else to work with, she could get away from that annoying sorcerer...]

Thou couldst certainly try. Thou said thou wert familiar with cloth, but dost thou have any experience fighting?

...Um, not really. I try to avoid that kind of thing.

[In a way, it was true. She was no physical fighter. And while she had been out on a few missions, she wasn't sure if she wanted to explain the whole fire magic thing.]

But thou art interested in learning?

Um, maybe? Although if it takes a lot of physical strength, I don't know if I'll have much luck.

Not as much in terms of lifting and hitting, though it doth not hurt, but mobility and stamina still be ideal.

Well, I'm not exactly athletic but I suppose I've gotten better here. Lots of walking because there aren't many cars here.
[Back home, her main exercise was hauling bags of old clothes to and from the shop van and doing laundry.]

[Lily knew she wasn't good at fighting but did wielding a magical obi require that much combat skill?]

Um, well, I did beat a few of those demons with someone else... But their Weapon form didn't take a lot of physical strength.

Mine doth not either, but maneuverability is still key - against a strong opponent, we'd not be able to make much progress if I had to spend the entire time shielding thee.

What sort of weapon were they?

Um... [She considered fibbing and claiming it was some type of gun but she wasn't a fan of firearms and didn't actually know how to handle one.]

A book. It took more of a strong voice than anything... [With a small nervous smile, Lily hoped Kiriha wouldn't ask much more about how it worked.]

A book? How strange. I suppose I could see that... so thou wert using some sort of incantation in conjunction with them?

...Um, I guess you could say that. Sort of like prayers to get rid of the demons. [With help from a few fireballs!]

So an actual exorcism... dost thou know if it be effective against all Kishin eggs, or just those of a demonic nature?

Well, it worked on abominable snowmen. And a weird beast attacking desert caravans.

[Lily just had a tendency to call kishin eggs demons since that was what she was used to back home.]

I see, that sounds versatile. Art they still around, or have they since left the city?

Oh, they're still around. Kind of annoying to work with though.
