Description: Training takes place every morning in the park to prepare the guests of the city for the ongoing war. It's handwaved most days, but approximately once a month this gets played out in a log. This log takes place on May 18th.

[A blink betrays his surprise, but it's Lee, after all. Still, he it sounded like his partner hoped to vent his frustrations through his fists. But they weren't making progress any other way, either.

He nods, stepping forward with sharpened eyes] I suppose we should take this to the field, then.

[Hearing those words, Lee's smile broadens into something genuinely grand. It really has been a while. He misses their old repertoire when it came to training back home.

With a nod of his head, Lee moves with Neji towards the sparring practice area of the field.]

I will have you know, I do not plan on holding back.

Why, isn't it? Did I miss something?

[He gives an odd and confused look in return.]

[It really is easier, to fall back into habit, to repeat words he's repeated and paraphrased hundreds of times back home. With a short huff, he idly flicks hair over his shoulder, eyes on the sparring pairs ahead and gauging distance]

Just because you're capable of winning on occasion doesn't mean you can afford to do something like that, anyway.

And you, my friend, are always over-confident in your abilities.

[And that made for a weakness that Lee could exploit on occassion. He wonders if Neji would be letting his guard down again this time or if it would be a long battle. He almost hopes it's the latter.]

[He's not the friendliest or most approachable looking person ever, but Neji's elected himself to handle this, rather than the alternative. You really don't want Lee answering your questions]

[His confidence is bolstered by a winning streak that while broken, still dwarfs Lee's by miles. But he doesn't say that, just moves a set distance away from his sparring partner and nods, falling into his stance and waiting as usual, for Lee to strike first]

[Steve turns to Aqua and gives her a polite smile.]

Good morning, ma'am. [He's probably seen her a couple times before.] There's been a lot of changes to the roster lately, hasn't there?

[Neji knows Lee all too well. The chuunin is not slow in getting down to business starting with a low kick he knows Neji will easily dodge. It's always like this, had been for years, where their fights started off in a predictable fashion and usually led to a predictable end. But not here, not in Death City where chakra was null and jutsu was nearly void.

It's a harsh battle between two skilled shinobi. One who's strength rely on his strength and speed, and the other who's strength lie in accuracy and intelligence. As different as they are, they have fought for years and know each other's styles so intimately they could probably mirror the other perfectly should they try.

But in the end, it came down to determination.

Lee often wore himself out quickly in battle but today was different. He paced himself, waiting for the perfect opportunity and it came in the very slight distraction that flickered across Neji's face minutely. And with that, Lee dropped, focusing his weight lower and counter-balancing the Hyuuga in a rush to toppled him.]

Sheena and I...I guess we're the perfect match. Do you think it can be told if we knew each other only for about two months?

[He fought, clashing with his teammate, movements changing and redirecting Lee's attacks with fluid shifts of weight to create openings where possible.

But without Byakugan, Lee's attacks could come faster than he could anticipate, and without his chakra, shutting his opponent down took much more precision and concentration than before. On top of that, his energy reserves were nowhere near Lee's, and the longer the spar lasted, the greater the disadvantage he found himself at.

He was managing well up until a point, where Lee smashed through his guard and he swallowed, leaping back, wondering at the strength of Lee's feelings against him. The moment of idle speculation cost him however, and the sky dropped back just as his back hit the ground. And Lee's hold was solid; he wouldn't get out of this with anything less than a burst of Jyuuken]

Just wait... until I've learned Soul Menace, Lee.

[awokentospring]

[Those words were the signal of a match ended. Grinning and chuckling with breathy pants, Lee switched his hold into an awkward hugging movement, then moved to help Neji to stand back up with him.]

Perhaps... you simply need more endurance training.

[He was pleased, to say the least. But also glad that he could finally put all that pent-up frustration behind him. There was no boiling feelings being tapped down now, no need to insist that Neji see things his way or let him have his own selfish way. No, Lee felt content now, and he was ready for things between them to return to normal.]

[Minako is taking a look around, trying to find something that's at least close to a naginata. It was what she was used to after all; if she was going to be fighting here, she didn't want to have to learn how to use a new weapon when she was already comfortable with something.]

Maybe this? No, not quite... [She sets a spear down.] I'm not Ken-kun after all. There has to be something I can work with here.

[Yamazaki's always there to take away your appetite!]

Thanks. Saya-san ant the others made a royal breakfast today, too, right?

[He stuffs his mouth full of mushrooms. Talking about Ryuzaki needs stamina.]

Oh, hey there! [Minako is still walking around idly when she catches sight of Kanji; he's a familiar face, so why not say hi?]

[Neji stood, brushing himself off and sighed heavily as he swept damp hair from his eyes. He glanced over his partner, relieved to see that he appeared loose, more relaxed, less likely to lose his temper]

Endurance training won't simply.. give me your stamina, Lee. That would be like training to have more chakra. As it is, I've gone through enough under Gai-sensei...

[Well, this is surprising. A frond is walking up to you. But what's this? Why, yes... that's a practice sword in her hand.]

[Rooftops are also very inspiring places with the sparrows nesting on you.]

A Zone Leader...Isn't it hard to fight for someone with a soul of a poet?

[Lee chuckled again, oh so much lighter.]

Well, I had been training to grow endurance since before even sensei began training us! [It was the simple, honest truth.

That aside, Lee was content. His nose even crinkled as he smiled at his rival.]

I am in need of more training myself! There is still quite a bit I have yet to master.

One other thing Aranea was doing that day, in addition to practicing and sparring, is looking for new people she hadn't met before. Fon was one of those, and the troll girl approached him, cautiously at first, so that he can become aware of his presence.

"It's a bit of a warm day, isn't it?" She mused.

[Anri relaxes a little at that, though she's still withdrawn.]

I wasn't going to. I was just looking...some of these I haven't seen before.

[Anri didn't have time to grab breakfast before she headed out this morning so while she feels a little guilty for taking advantage of this while she's only really now starting to get involved with training, she's too hungry to deny herself - and she'll need her energy, after all.

Scouting around for somewhere to sit, she notices the only free space appears to be next to...well, she's not sure what he (if it's indeed a he) is, but she has little choice and, well, she's already spoken to a frog-person and is friends with a wolf (not to mention the Dullahan friend she has at home) so this might not be so bad.

Even so, her approach is shy, quiet, poised to be told to leave even as she asks]

Excuse me. Um, is anyone sitting here?

[After a little training herself, Anri comes to watch Amaterasu spar as she said she might. She's still curious to know how a wolf can use a conventional weapon, but she's careful to stay out of the way and just observe]

[Anri looks up with a start, grip tightening on the sword so she doesn't drop it. She's not entirely used to being noticed, or only being noticed for certain things, and she hasn't quite realised she'll draw attention by being here]

Um, not exactly.

[Anri tries not to get into people's personal bubbles on purpose, not when she likes her own too much. But there are a lot of people around and it's inevitable that a lapse of concentration means she almost brushes into someone who clearly doesn't welcome it]

Ah, I'm sorry! I'll be more careful.
