Morning Training

Time: 6am to 9am
Description: Training takes place every morning in the park to prepare the guests of the city for the ongoing war. It's handwaved most days, but approximately once a month this gets played out in a log. This log takes place on April 24th.

Ready? Go! *Auron whips his sword at any and all of the three heights he mentioned. He is not swinging lightly either. Hope Takuto knows how to block well!*

[Takuto is no amateur by any means. His defense is strong, but in a fluid sense. Instead of taking Auron's blows directly, he's turning slightly and angling his swords to turn the strikes and have Auron's sword slide off his own. He's light on his feet and not at all worried about giving up ground. The fast pace has him beaming, too.]

*After a while, they stop. Takuto wasn't kidding when he said he had some skill.*

I don't think I'm ready to use my real sword on you but I think you are good enough that we can fight for real. So get ready.

[Takuto beamed, drinking up the praise. He put both of his swords in one hand so he could wipe his already damp hair from his temples.]

Does this mean I can attack back now?

Come and get me if you think you can, kid.

[tauborn]

[Takuto grinned at the challenge, tossing one of the swords back to his free hand, pausing for just one moment to get ready with swords out to the sides and feet underneath him. And in a flash, he was dashing towards Auron, attacking first with the sword on the right and following right behind with the left.]

*Oh, a double swordsman, hunh? This might be fun. Auron blocked the attack on right and had to pivot quickly to get out of the way of the one on his left. Two swords and being blind on one side? A good challenge.*

[Takuto continued his attack, following as Auron pivoted away, and spinning and bringing both swords towards the man horizontally at the same time.]

*Auron was not the most agile of people but mostly that was due to his huge sword. Not having that, he had enough time to avoid the trap of the two blades by crouching and lashing out with a kick to Takuto's ankles.*

[Slightly alarmed at the sudden attack that didn't come from a blade, Takuto jumped backwards, quick-stepping until his feet were properly underneath himself again (and outside Auron's kicking range).

Almost unconsciously, he was already putting together an appropriate counterattack to the kick, even though he was going immediately back on the offensive, this time positioning himself on Auron's blind side and going for a vertical slash followed by a horizontal one.]

*It was only by the hem of his robe did Auron barely avoid both of those strikes, scrambling away and back on his feet. He took a moment to regain his breath. He honestly hadn't expected Takuto to be this good. Maybe Auron was the one who needed someone really skilled to go toe-to-toe with so he could improve as well.*

Where'd you learn to fight?

[He stepped back to give Auron some breathing room, lowering his swords just a tiny bit.]

From my grandfather, mostly. But I also studied under my best friend in high school--Sugata was the heir to the Shindou Style--and I learned some of Kaoru's Kamiya Style here in Death City.

[His dual-wielding style hadn't been easy to translate into the Shindou or Kamiya styles at first, but he'd really had no other option, considering how difficult it is for him to single-wield.]

I might not be able to teach you a whole lot that you haven't already learned. Or did you just want to test yourself against me? *Auron chuckled.*

[tauborn]

[He's honestly surprised.]

What? Really? You think that? [But... he's doesn't feel ready to stop learning.... He ends up looking kind of crestfallen.]

...Does this mean I can't be your student?

Hmmm. Well...you're probably not -perfect- and I want my students to be as good as they can be. So you'll be one of my more advanced students. One day if you have an actual sword, I'll fight you with my sword and then that'll be a real test.

For now, I better make sure I can beat you with a wooden sword.
